Wolves fan in collapse at Molineux

A Wolves fan died after suffering a heart attack during the team’s home game against Swansea.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, collapsed in the Steve Bull stand at around 2.40pm, near to the end of Saturday’s 2-2 draw.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman John Hawker said CPR was carried out as crews attempted to resuscitate the man but he was confirmed dead shortly after arriving at New Cross Hospital.

I was about three rows behind him when this happened. The medics were on hand very quickly and appeared to do everything possible and the supporters near them were all quick to turn their attention from the game to try and do whatever they could to help. At the point we were leaving, they were attempting CPR, so the situation seemed quite dire. Very sad to hear the outcome.

I really felt for the person with him who I believed might have been his son. If you’re reading this, please accept my deepest condolences.

I worked with Dave for many years and was shocked to hear the news today. He was a lovely guy, a real gentleman, very professional and always a pleasure to work with. He was also far too young to go.

On behalf of all his former Council colleagues, I would like to pass on our heartfelt condolences to his family.

I am a Forest fan, but I knew Dave from working at Severn Trent, Dave was a true gentleman and unfortunately he had only retired recently, we always enjoyed our chats about football and the banter that comes with football rivalry and I am sorry to hear this very sad news. My condolences go to all his family.
