Kevin Doyle wants Wolves to kick on
Friday 30th September 2011, 4:30PM BST.
Wolves striker Kevin Doyle admits turning around the club’s fortunes will take time but admits they need to start improving results now.
Boss Mick McCarthy has labelled tomorrow’s Molineux visit of Newcastle as the first ‘pressure point’ of the season following three successive Premier League defeats.
And Doyle, who finally ended speculation about his future to sign a new four-year deal on Wednesday, accepts the team needs to start delivering again after a difficult period.
He said: “This squad is only going to get better. This isn’t a quick-fix or a ‘let’s get it done now’ strategy. It’s going to take time, but the core of us here are all reasonably young and getting better.
“In gaining experience at this level, we’re all gaining more confidence. Over the season, people will see we’ve become a stronger, better team.
“That said, it’s important we play well and get something out of it tomorrow.”
