Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Matt Jarvis declared fit for Wolves
Wednesday 14th September 2011, 11:40AM BST.
Matt Jarvis today insisted he is “100 per cent fit” and ready to return to Wolves’ starting line-up against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
The winger had an injection in his ankle last week and forced manager Mick McCarthy to change his starting line-up for the first time in the Premier League this season, when Michael Kightly replaced him in Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat by Tottenham.
The injury had limited Jarvis to just two Friday training sessions in the previous fortnight but the England international, who came off the bench for the last 14 minutes against Spurs, revealed how an injection has now solved the problem.
He said: “It’s been managed well and the injection has sorted it now, so I just want to carry on training and try to get back into the team.
“I’m 100 per cent fit and I want to carry on where I left off after a good start to the season.
“I hadn’t been training fully up until the Spurs game because of the ankle – it wasn’t fair having not trained to then play.”

Great news that Jarvis is fit!
With reference to the photo attached to this story, what the hell was that substitution all about on Saturday against Spurs?
Conner & McCarty always seem so unsure what they are doing when making a substitution,it always seems to drag on and on!
To see Hammill reading a text book that was written by Connor & handed to him before he could go on the pitch was by far the funniest thing I have witnessed at a match.
I for one would love to see Connors match notes!

It will interesting to see if Mick sticks to his comment of “If they have the shirt then it’s up to them to keep it – and it’s up to everyone else to try and take it from them”.
I was away so unfortuantely missed the Spurs game on Saturday so dont really know how well Kightly played – but it WILL be interesting to see if he keeps his starting place or if Jarvis automatically comes straight back in.

Lets be rational ward is our best player and immune to injury so that’s a plus have I always liked Ward as a full back.
This is great news as we looked pretty clueless without him against Spurs.
What on earth is Hammill reading in this picture – the rules of football?? Just about sums up Clueless Clipboard and our inability to make a good substitution. You can even see the confused look on Hammill’s face!!
If we lose to QPR on Saturday then our good start will have been wasted, just like last season where our good wins were followed by poor defeats against the likes of Wigan (0 points), West Ham (1 point), Blackburn (0 points), Bolton (0 points) and Newcastle (1 point).

@ Comment Number 4
Its not just Connor & Mick that use the tactics books. Majority of top clubs use them and they will tell the players what the weaknesses of certain players. In Hammill’s case the full back, just giving him pointers on where to look when he has the ball etc. Other stuff such as who he is marking at corners/free kicks etc. Watch most top flight/international games on TV and you will see the Assistant manager with the tactic book going through it with the player
@ Comment 5 – Kites did ok but still looks way off being match fit. If Jarvis is 100% he comes back in and Kites carries on his slow and steady return to action
Report abuse
5) I would say not. Good to see him back but he is not ready for the Premiership yet. Play him against Millwall by all means but definitely not Liverpool and Jarvis, with his extra pace, should be used against QPR. I would say that there is also a problem with Hunt being able to play a full game and if so, Hammill should be used!

Fully fit??
Should get a full 30 minutes then when Kites comes off…

is hammill reading the sport lol

I think Hammill Should have started in the first place. He’s by far the better crosser which is just what we need when Fletcher is on the pitch. But he came on when the strikers were worn out and Fletch got an injury.
I’m amazed how many people suddenly think QPR look a good team.
Having watched the match on Monday night I thought both QPR and Newcastle looked poor to me.
Apart from SWP and Tabart, QPR look pretty average across the rest of the team ( Barton included).
I would expect us to comfortably beat them.
No need to to get nervous, I shall be down the bookies putting a few pounds on 3 points to the Wolves.
My ONLY nagging doubt is the ability of our defence to handlke Sean Wright Philipss pace.

it’s not a tactic book it’s his latest tattoo catologue. whilst clipboard advises Jarvis…”don’t go covering yourself in tattoos son, it just makes you look like a braindead chav”

KB & Bob oaf just go away and torment somebody else, you ain’t and NEVER will be Wolves fans.
8 Hoddie save your breath you can’t talk football to these idiots who just come on these pages to wind up the true fans.

A 100% fit Matt Jarvis is a certainty for Saturday’s game.
The bigger question surrounds the fitness of Fletcher and whether Wolves will play with just Doyle up front. At this stage of the season I feel it would be unwise to risk Fletcher aggravating an injury which may keep him out for several weeks. We can play an attacking game with two wingers and an extra midfield player with just Doyle as the sole striker.

Hunt is a player who as to be 110% last two games he as not been himself looking very heavy legged.
I love this lads energy and electric desire and beleive he is a true warrior.
I do have a sneaky feeling something is just not quiet right with Hunty.
Jarvis needs to show the same desire as sometimes he needs to show the get up and get at am attitude…..SPEED use it “JARVIS” use it!

8, hoodie.. No sorry i havent seen man utd, chelsea, man city do this, nor have i seen spain, brazil or any other international team do this….
maybe a quick bit of paper to show them what movement they need to make (which is rare, the manager usually just tells them) but if they are a half decent player they should already know this, but a textbook like Hammill is reading, just sums up the joke of a coach we have in TC, if you want them to read it show them the night before a game and make them read the book not on the side of the pitch, Hammill is prob just standing there thinking about what tattoo he is going to get next, TC just makes us look like a joke!
qpr look tricky but iam sure we can get 3 points, kightly is NOT a prem player.. Jarvis in for him.

Looks more like War and Peace.
Remembering that footballers have the brain the size of a peanut and the memory span of a goldfish, i fear that it all doesnt sink in, as performances suggest.

Kford Wolf 22 – Your making wolves look like a joke. Every club does it, Just because you havent seen them do it, doesnt mean it doesnt happen. You want players to read what they need to be doing the night before, when the club doesnt even know who the opposition is going to play, what formation they will set up in, and what tactics they will be using. Thats not very bright now is it.
Just like at other clubs, Its not something that gets used for every single substitution, but in some cases, it is neccesary.

Great news – go get them, Jarvo!

@ Post 18
Seriously? Chelsea do it all the time. It was something Mourinho started and they still do to this day.
Watch an England game and you will see Pearce sat/stood with the sub with the book. It is unusual for the player to take the book himself but we are not the only club to use this book system.

18 – I would love to know the basis for your assertion. TC has been kept by a string of managers, and MM certainly rates him. He is regularly mentioned by former players like Joleon Lescott as being pivotal in their development and I know for a fact that he works his socks off for the club. You seem to hold the fact that he does so much research on other squads aagainst him?? Also (at the risk of starting another debate) I am proud that my club employs a black coach.

and PS. ‘Kightly is not a prem player’ – based on?????? Two years working back to fitness and an hour to write him off. He must be so proud to play for fans like you.
Kights should have been loaned out to a Championship club. After 2 years out what he needs more than anything is regular first team football . Its asking too much to expect him to come back and play at Prem level after such a long absence.
Hoping my new black seat will be as comfy as my sofa on Saturday.

I agree that no one is in a position to criticise “Kites”.After all the man has not had the oppurtunity to show whether he can play at this level or not.
Prior to his injury he would have been the one player majority of the fans would have backed to be a success in this league.
It would have been more sensible if he had been loaned out for a couple of months with the guarantee of playing. This would have applied the finishing touches to his rehab.
I for one beleive his quality will come through let’s give him time.

We done very well for the majority of the Spurs game but quality prevailed and when they have Modric, Bale, Adebayor, King etc all playing its no shame to lose narrowly to that quality. Looks like Fletch is out so similar to Blackpool at home last season 4-4-1-1
I would however make changes for QPR:
Hennessey
Stearman
Johnson
Berra
Ward
Hammill
Henry
Milijas
Jarvis
O’Hara
Doyle
