Wolves interested in James McFadden

Wolves interested in James McFadden

Wolves today admitted an interest in signing free agent James McFadden.

The Scotland international is closing in on full fitness again, after undergoing surgery in the United States on a cruciate knee ligament injury.

McFadden is available for nothing after Birmingham decided against taking up a two-year option on his contract, which expired in the summer.

And that has alerted Wolves, who have been seeking to boost their striking options with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake injured following the departures of Andy Keogh and Stefan Maierhofer.

Chief executive Jez Moxey told the Express & Star today: “I would say we would be interested in speaking to any player who is out of contract who we think might be helpful to us.”

I believe that James McFadden could be an ideal player to fill the one gap in the squad of 25, providing there is no doubts about his fitness? He would not go straight into our first team but as he can play upfront and a more withdrawn role, he would be a good player to have coming off the bench!

    i would snap him up,
he was a very goos player for Everton and indeed for Brum, his form wasnt so great in the last year he was playing but if we can get him 100% fit and get him back to his best he’d be a quality signing!

Good player who would improve the team. Can’t see it though, for the many strengths of MM, he does not seem to play people who don’t fit into the team ethic/put in a shift and have strong personality. Not sure if Mcfadden fits the into the type of player MM wants. And why would MM do that when he has brought steady, assured progression. Shame because he would be appreciated by the crowd.

I think he would be a decent signing for free. He would have to do quite a lot to prove his fitness and to usurp one of our front 4 (Doyle, Fletch, Hunt, Jarvo) but he would provide a skillful and, more importantly, a different attacking option to what we already have.

As a back-up for the main strikers I suppose it would be worth signing him on a short term contract. Doubtful he would be selected ahead of Fletcher, Doyle or Ebanks-blake.

This is the equivalent of scratching around for some leftovers after the harvest has been picked.Nevertheless,if he is fit I think he would be a decent player, playing just behind one striker. Our squad is one short, and this is probably just posturing ,to give the impression they are trying to fill the gap in the squad.I will be very surprised if we would meet his wage demands. There is no question – if he does get fit – that the ex-Scottish international can mix it within the high climbs of the Premier League. However, he is a luxury player, not altogether the “put in a shift” hard-hat grafting type that Super Mick espouses to his liking. Nevertheless, he would be worth a look, and maybe running the rule over his play, say, a week’s worth of training at Compton will help decide. Regardless, even with SEB injured, we have options more so than past two years in the League, with a more versatile squad to pick from. And let’s not forget…Wardy can play anywhere and pull it off! Come on you Ward moaners, chuckle a little!

I would take McFaden, he is similar to Fletcher, and would enable us to play a similar style if he ever played for us.. We cannot expect the best players in the world now the transfer deadline is over, so McFaden on a free is good enough for me.. A contract till Christmas, with an option fr the rest of the year would be good..

If any of our strikers get injured , we will be thankful of this deal.. You cannot rely on SEB coming back in a few weeks. Doyle and fletcher could get injured in that time.. Doyle usually comes back from Ireland injured or with some worry. So best have another option in place.

I’d sign him up and take a gamble on his fitness. We had to wait a bit for Hunt but it was deffo worth the wait.

Also….Wish everyone would stop being so negative about our policies. We are in the best position we have been in for over 25 years. If you are good enough your old enough! there is plenty of teams playing there youngsters in prem if they rate them high enough! Vokes is another, if i hear he is one for the future once more ill scream, he has been with us 4 years ish if he was ever going to be good enough in MMs opinion then he should have a got the odd game!

Personally i dont think he is good enough for prem & its correct not to try him in the games as it could cost us vital points, so the question is…. why have him on payroll?
