Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

David Edwards on his battle back
Friday 2nd September 2011, 12:01PM BST.
Relieved Wolves midfielder David Edwards is hoping he has won the toughest injury battle of his career.
Edwards ended a six-month struggle against a back problem with his first appearance since February in a reserves clash against Newcastle this week.
And now the 25-year-old is planning to be the ‘new signing’ Wolves declined to make on transfer deadline day this week.
Wolves fans last saw Edwards in a 4-0 Premier League defeat of Blackpool in February, but the upbeat report on his ‘rehab’ contributed to the club keeping its transfer powder dry this week.
He said: “It’s been the longest time I’ve had out in my career. Before this one the longest I’d had was the three months I was out with an ankle injury a couple of seasons ago.
“It’s been a hard six months because there were times when I thought I was nearly fit and there were others when I felt a million miles away.
“It’s nice to hopefully come through the other side but now I’ve got work extra hard to keep myself fit and avoid future problems.
“It has been a frustrating time, especially the two or three times I thought I was close and then had another setback.
“I’ve got a good support team around me and have managed to come through it.”
