Sam Vokes called up to Wales squad
Tuesday 30th August 2011, 10:00AM BST.
Wolves striker Sam Vokes was today called up for Wales’ European Championship qualifying double-header against Montenegro and England.
Neal Eardley has withdrawn from boss Gsry Speed’s 24-man squad because of broken fingers and Vokes has replaced the Blackpool full-back.
Vokes missed Wales’ friendly defeat by Australia earlier this month because of an ankle problem.
But the 21-year-old, who scored in Wolves’ 4-0 Carling Cup win at Northampton, now hopes to win his 19th cap.
Villa defender James Collins is suspended for Friday’s Group G clash with Montenegro in Cardiff.
But Craig Bellamy, Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale are all available for both the Millennium Stadium clash and the trip to Wembley on Tuesday.
Bolton defender Sam Ricketts remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from Achilles surgery in February.
Norwich midfielder Andrew Crofts is also available after missing the loss to Australia.
