Matt Jarvis over Wolves substitution
Tuesday 30th August 2011, 9:45AM BST.
Wolves winger Matt Jarvis today swallowed his disappointment over his substitution at Aston Villa and admitted manager Mick McCarthy got it right.
The wide man was dismayed at his second-half withdrawal, as McCarthy introduced George Elokobi and Kevin Foley at the expense of wingers Jarvis and Stephen Hunt.
But the move has since been credited with ensuring a point that maintained the team’s unbeaten start.
Jarvis said: “It was disappointing at the time to be taken off because I wanted to carry on contributing to the game.
“But I understood the manager’s decision – it’s a team game and we needed to be solid to get a point and that’s what we did.”
