Roger Johnson tipped for England

Wolves captain Roger Johnson was today tipped for an England cap – by Molineux’s current international.

Matt Jarvis is hoping himself and new skipper Johnson will be included when boss Fabio Capello announces his squad tomorrow night for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria on September 2 and Wales four days later.

Jarvis, who won his first cap against Ghana in March, believes the former Birmingham defender has had a huge impact since his £4.5m arrival in the summer and reckons he is more than capable of making the step up.

“There are a lot of centre-halves in and around the England set-up but, as regards Roger, I’d say why not?” said Jarvis.

“He’s definitely capable of playing for England.

“He trains well and in games everyone has seen just what a good centre-half he is.

“His qualities, such as his leadership skills, aerial ability, tackling and marking, are there for all to see.

“But he’s also a footballing centre-half too and he likes to play. That always helps with the rest of the team.

“If he carries on playing as well as he has done for us, then who knows?”

I think referring to a player who received one cap and about twenty minutes in a friendly against Ghana six months ago as a ‘current Three Lions International’ is pushing it a bit. I was in the audience for ‘X-Factor’ last week, does that mean I’m going to win it?

The tividaleirregular, that x factor argument is stupid! Of course you wouldn’t win because you wernt even in it! Jarvis has been in the England set up so therefore has a chance for the future. Will find out tomorrow won’t we! Also after admitting you were in the x factor audience, I’d spend less time worrying about jarvis England career and spend more time re-evaluating your sexuality.

I’d rather Jarvis misses out on an England cap. We’ve got a pretty thin squad and we could do without the injuries. It would be a nightmare if Johnson DID get to play for England as our season will be screwed if he played and broke his leg. Why would either of them want to mix with the big-time charlies in the England set up anyway?

Roger Johnson definitely deserves a call up. He had Bent in his pocket today. Jarvis on the other hand was poor. Man of the match… Ward!

Rojo is on the cusp if not a bonafied shout for a Three Lions cap, and since I have not been in to watch SkySports yet, he may have already made Capello’s squad! Up the skipper, as he deserves a chance to make his club and country proud! UTMW

Johnson has proved to be a very good buy, so lets see MM make another good buy by going for Scot Dann. If he is indeed available for the £5 million thats now being quoted, then get him quick because it looks like Blackburn are in for him as well!

What a strange two weeks it has been since our last game. I haven’t looked over my neighbour’s fence with as much interest since Pamela Anderson moved in next door and regularly used her trampoline, writes Albion blogger Jarrod Hill.
