Roger Johnson is worth seven points – O’Hara
Friday 26th August 2011, 4:00PM BST.
Jamie O’Hara today claimed the impact of captain Roger Johnson could win Wolves an extra seven points this season and help fire them into mid-table.
Having improved the performances of the players around him as well as bringing a steadying influence to the defence, Johnson has already made a big impact at Molineux since his £4.5m summer move from Birmingham.
Late goals cost Wolves 13 points last season but fellow summer arrival O’Hara believes the former Blues centre-back will continue to make a massive difference to the team.
“It’s just been about tweaking this summer, but Roger has completely changed the team,” said the midfielder.
“Last year we were seven points off 10th – well, I think signing Roger has given us those seven points.
“That could be the difference for us and we’ve got Roger looking really strong, Matt Jarvis has started well and Steven Fletcher and Kevin Doyle have been different class up front.
“If we can keep everyone fit then we’ve got a very good squad.
“Personally, I feel great as well. I feel really fit and on top of my game.
“It’s the first time in the last year that I’ve got myself where I want to be.
“Hopefully I can keep clear of injuries and keep playing well.”
Midfielder O’Hara is relishing the derby at Villa Park tomorrow and reckons Wolves can challenge Villa’s long-held domination of the Midlands.
“Villa have been the biggest club in the Midlands for a long time but Wolves are a big club too with a massive following,” he said.
“If we keep playing well and we’re not fighting against relegation then people will take notice of that and I think we’ll be able to draw bigger crowds and people will realise we’ve got a great squad here.”
O’Hara was part of last season’s 1-0 win at Villa Park and has his heart set on a repeat to maintain Wolves’ 100 per cent start.
“We did great there last season and hopefully we can produce a repeat performance,” he added. “Villa Park is a super stadium and it’s a big game for us as well.
“The fact it’s a derby adds a bit extra.”

What a strange two weeks it has been since our last game. I haven’t looked over my neighbour’s fence with as much interest since Pamela Anderson moved in next door and regularly used her trampoline, writes Albion blogger Jarrod Hill.
