Stefan Maierhofer close to Wolves exit

Wolves striker Stefan Maierhofer should see his £1million move to Red Bull Salzburg go through today.

The 29-year-old, who had been set to be in manager Mick McCarthy’s 25-man squad, undergoes a medical today after flying out to Austria on Saturday afternoon with a view to signing a two-year contract, plus an option for a further 12 months.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey confirmed: “Stefan has been given permission by Mick and myself to talk to Red Bull Salzburg, with a view to a move being concluded today or tomorrow.”
