Wolves boss hopes Fulham are tired
Friday 19th August 2011, 1:44PM BST.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy today revealed his side hope to cash in on the effects of Fulham’s Europa League adventure.
The Cottagers are at Molineux on Sunday, after beating Ukrainian side Dnipro last night in the Europa League.
McCarthy rates Fulham highly after they took four points off Wolves last season.
But the Wolves boss hopes the extra match in midweek, which led to Sunday’s game being moved back a day, could have a draining effect on the visitors.
He said: “Fulham were one of the best sides we played here last season. But the game has to be a disadvantage to them. It might have an effect but it wasn’t a rough and tumble Premier League game.
“Nevertheless, they have had 90 minutes and we won’t know what effect it has until we play on Sunday.”
McCarthy is looking to build on last weekend’s 2-1 win against Blackburn by beating another team in that middle group of the Premier League.
He said: “We don’t want to be in that bottom section of the league but if we want to progress, it’s unlikely we’re going to be beating the Manchester Uniteds all the time.
“So we really have to be better against our own group.”
The manager also expressed his sympathy over the death of former defender Frank Munro this week at the age of 63.
McCarthy said: “I met him a few times at functions and chatted to him and he was a thoroughly nice guy and one of the greats here.
“Our best wishes go to his family.”

Don’t think Fulham will be tired as they were at home and playing the equivalent of maybe a team of League 2 standard.
Anyone heard if there’s to be a minute’s silence for Frank prior to the kickoff?

If Fulham aren’t tired after the Europa League match they certainly will be after Arrow-man Fletcher, Dynamic Doyler, Jet-boy Jarvo and “Animal-from-the-Muppets” Hunt have give ‘em the run arround for 90 minutes
Up the MIGHTY WOLVES!

Love your names for Fletch, Doyler Jarvo and Hunt. I love Hunt and have nicknamed him the Rotweiler and he can carry on snapping at Fulhams feet and we will do it. 2.1 to us.

Saw the game against Fulham at the end of last season and IMO thought Fulham were excellent. We will have to be at the top of our game, even though their season began in about June or sometime ridiculous like that.
3 points please Wolves. And RIP Frank Munro.
WE ARE WOLVES!!!

Can’t wait for Sunday, in part and with respects to Big Frank. Let’s hope the time allocated to honoring him is observed with grace and reverence. If possible, during the match, maybe the terraces can bellow out the “Allo, Allo, Big Frank Munro” diddy piece! As to match, we can do it! 3-1 to OG&B! UTMW

Mick,
There you go again, don’t you keep your eye on the target?. Fulham have played two matches, for the second one they rested half the team. Then what do you come up with, “I hope they are tired”. Get with it, no wonder us BAGGIES have a good belly laugh.
BOING~~~~BOING~~~~JtH.

What a load of rubbish Mick has no faith in the team to beat Fulham.

Some of the comments on here defy belief. OF COURSE MM is going to look for any advantage (like tired) Every manager in the Premiership would, from Sir Alex right down to Woy Hodgson. Get real some of you.
Fulham outplayed us for long periods last term, but, that was then and this is now.
The Wolves team have grown in confidence, have a powerful captain and Jamie O’Hara, Stephen Hunt, Stephen Fletcher and Matt Jarvis firing on all cylinders !
…and Stephen Ward.
Let’s lift the roofs off the other three stands with applause for Frank Munro !!!

13) Jack the hat. “a good belly laugh”
Yes I’ve seen you lot trudging up to the HawHawHawthorns from Handsworth in your ill fitting striped shirts. There’s plenty of belly about.

Real idiots here this morning – MM will be in a press conference and will be asked a number of questions – one will be about the effects of Fulham playing midweek – all opposing managers of those in europa league action will be asked the same thing. MM does not have a say on the headlines and what will be reported. As you know MM does talk about his own team and concentrates on the performances of WW. Show some respect or engage in conversations on the other side.
