Wolves captain Roger Johnson will wear the No 14 shirt this season.

With none of the normal central defensive numbers made available, Johnson takes the digits which added together make five, the traditional number for a centre-half.

It was also the shirt vacated by midfielder David Jones, who joined Wigan after leaving Wolves at the end of last season.

Fellow new signing Dorus De Vries has taken the No 31 shirt, while Jamie O'Hara keeps the 24 from his loan last season after completing his permanent move.

Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has reclaimed the No 1 shirt from the departed Marcus Hahnemann, while Carl Ikeme – currently on loan at Middlesbrough – has taken Hennessey's previous 13 jersey.

Two, 15 and 22 – previously occupied by Jelle Van Damme, Greg Halford and Steven Mouyokolo – are still spare.

Andy Keogh, who spent last season on loan with Bristol City and Cardiff, takes the 21 shirt worn by Michael Mancienne last term, with Stefan Maierhofer donning the unworn 33.
