Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Dave Jones joins Matt Murray night
Monday 1st August 2011, 11:30AM BST.
Former Wolves manager Dave Jones today became the latest to declare himself in for Matt Murray’s big night.
Jones, who became the first man to lead Wolves to the Premier League, confirmed he will be at Murray’s testimonial dinner, which will see the 2003 Championship play-off final winning team re-united.
Invites have gone out to all players and staff from the unforgettable day at the Millennium Stadium, with Jones joining Wolves president and former chairman Sir Jack Hayward, Paul Butler, Joleon Lescott, Lee Naylor and Shaun Newton and others at the eagerly-awaited event on Thursday September 15.
It is hoped Paul Ince, who was captain, Denis Irwin and Mark Kennedy, Nathan Blake and Kenny Miller – who were goalscorers in the 3-0 win over Sheffield United – will also be there at Molineux’s Hayward Suite.
It promises to be a ‘must’ for Wolves fans and Jones is looking forward to it.
He said: “From the moment Matt called me about the night it’s been a date in my diary – I am really looking forward to it. It will be fantastic to see all the players again and the staff.
“It was a very special day for everyone connected with Wolves and it still has a big place in my bank of sporting memories.
“Matt was a big part of what we achieved that season and it was such a pity that injuries prevented him from going on to reach the full extent of his potential.
“But at least we saw something of his ability that season and at the Millennium Stadium he was superb again.
“It will be a pleasure to re-trace those steps and I am told there’s going to be a Q & A as well – that should be fun!”
Assistant manager Terry Connor, former goalkeeping coach Bobby Mimms and ex-players Michael Oakes, Keith Andrews, Mark Clyde, Marc Edworthy and Adam Proudlock have also confirmed their attendance while Kevin Blackwell, who was Sheffield United’s assistant manager that day, will give an opposition view.
