Matt Jarvis faces week out for Wolves

Wolves winger Matt Jarvis is likely to be out of action for a week after suffering a groin injury in training.

Jarvis watched last night’s 2-0 friendly win at Celtic and will return to Compton for treatment.

The problem isn’t expected to be serious but will keep him out of Saturday’s friendly at Ipswich.

But striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake will return to the squad tomorrow after missing last night’s game, as Wolves continued their pre-season with a step-up in class of opposition.

Ebanks-Blake is likely to join fellow striker Sam Vokes in the squad for the trip to Portman Road.

Manager Mick McCarthy said: “Jarvis just hurt his groin in training yesterday and won’t be fit for a week or so. Sylvan’s got a bad back and it was decided to leave him back home to get treatment.

“The physios are confident he’s fit now and likely to join us tomorrow morning.”

McCarthy’s squad flew south from Scotland this afternoon after training this morning again at Celtic’s academy, where they had trained since arriving on Monday afternoon.

They are due to spend the rest of today and tomorrow training at Colchester, before Saturday’s next friendly at Ipswich.

Has anyone here ever had a groin strain? It seems to be one of those things that footballers get. I mean, who in the real world suffers a bone spur? How does one get shin splints, and how are they removed? Do plumbers and sparkies get floating cartilege? And am I likely to suffer a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament cleaning out the pub quiz machine in The Newhampton? People, PeteNuts craves education on these matters!

Don’t get excited about last nights win in Glasgow as Celtics team was basically the second string. What bothers me most is that a so called PL club down the road has the cheek to bid for Ridgewell and some Potters up the road want to buy Dann. As the best club in the Midlands both those players should be wearing the Black and Gold of Wolves come the 13th of August. What about it Moxley.

I’ve had shin splints! Its just a general term for localised shin pain with dozens of causes. Mine is simply an over-use injury (overloading too soon!). A bone spur is simply a calcium build up which is very painful.

Good win for the boys last night, albiet against a average team in Celtic.
Managed to catch part of the second half and Celtic were targeting Elokobi in virtually every attack they had.
Anybody else heard this supposed rumour about Ipswich planning a £1 million bid for Stearman.
All very well if we have a replacement lined up but i can think of a few others who i would get rid of first.
When Andy Keough came on last night for the last couple of minutes i hope it was a goodbye gesture from the management and not god forbid as part of the 25 man squad this season.

Is it just me, or do these injuries really say how frail our squad is… Picture this, Johnson gets injured… we’ll be back to our Championship Defence….. enough said…

Surley magic Mick is only pulling the wool over our eyes saying no more signing are coming???

Whats happened to Ridgwell, surely worth a 2 million punt… Better than what we already have???

P.s, Petenuts… I’ve had a bone spur in the back of my ankle, hurt like ****!!!

Pete – I know an electrician who had a problem with floating cartilage……. but then, he played a fair bit of football too, nice little circle there.

A bone spur…….. is that the latest effecting Giggs ?!

They get hurt when they run ,jump, and run around in circles, this is football and its very complicated, this is why they are worth millions, have you ever tried running round for45 minutes without a 15 minute lie down.
