Leigh Griffiths will join English club
Thursday 28th July 2011, 8:54AM BST.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has repeated his wish to send rookie striker Leigh Griffiths out on loan to an English club rather than a return to Scotland.
There is interest from the Championship and League One in the 21-year-old, who moved south for £150,000 in January from Dundee.
And McCarthy said: “My preference is for him to stay in England. He’s played in Scotland, albeit not in the Premier League, but I think it will be better for us if we’re going to be able to monitor him and watch him.
“He made the move to us, so let him do it in England, because we know he can do it at a certain level in Scotland as he scored a lot of goals.
“I think he’s got to try something else. It could be a bit too comfortable for him to go back to Scotland and do it all again.
“No, he made the move, so he will have to do it somewhere else.”
