Wolves boss clamps down on Twitter
Tuesday 26th July 2011, 9:56AM BST.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has introduced a clampdown on his players using Twitter.
McCarthy revealed a media law firm is to speak to the squad about the potential dangers of using the social networking site.
The Wolves boss – himself victim of a Twitter spoof ‘StuffMickSays’ – claimed the website was almost certainly to blame for missing out on Steve Sidwell, who subsequently signed for Fulham, after the player’s appearance in the director’s box at the Chelsea game was tweeted.
The manager said: “We had Steve Sidwell here at the Chelsea game. Some twit tweeted it and it became common knowledge.
“He was on the running machine here and was due to have a fitness test the following day, then he went and signed for Fulham.
“Do you think that had anything to do with the gravepine or Twitter? I think it probably did.”
