Wolves trio return at Notts County
Friday 22nd July 2011, 2:00PM BST.
Wolves’ big-hitters Ronald Zubar, Jamie O’Hara and Steven Fletcher are primed for their first taste of pre-season action at Notts County.
The trio, who haven’t played this summer, are included in manager Mick McCarthy’s 24-man squad for the trip to Meadow Lane tomorrow.
Zubar is set for his first game since the 4-0 win over Blackpool on February 26, after undergoing successful surgery on his back.
Summer signing O’Hara (calf) and last season’s 12-goal top scorer Fletcher (knee) were both injured on the trip to Ireland two weeks ago, but have recovered to take their places in tomorrow’s trip to the East Midlands as McCarthy takes his strongest squad of the warm-up programme so far.
Midfielders Adlene Guedioura (ankle) and David Edwards (back) and strikers Sam Vokes (sore calf) and Stefan Maierhofer (foot) aren’t risked, however, as they continue their rehabilitation.
New goalkeeper Dorus De Vries, who hasn’t figured in either of the two friendlies so far, is included in the senior squad and the development party who travel to Shrewsbury tonight after recovering from a sore groin.
Young midfielder David Davis, who had a loan spell at Shrewsbury last season, is the only player from the development side to make the step up to the seniors as the squad is divided in two for the weekend.
