Wolves and left-back target Lee Wallace are prepared to play a waiting game over the player's future.

The 23-year-old, rated as the best left-back in Scotland, has just 12 months left on his contract and is prepared to sit tight and walk away for nothing this time next year.

Wolves are willing to pay up to £1million for the 23-year-old but they are in no rush to buy again, as they attempt to balance the books following the signings of Roger Johnson, Jamie O'Hara and Dorus De Vries.

Wallace has been on Wolves' radar for well over a year and has attracted two bids from Glasgow Rangers, the latter thought to be £900,000.

But Hearts quickly dismissed Rangers' offers for the five-capped Scotland international.

And Wallace, who didn't feature in Tuesday's 2-1 friendly defeat against Cowdenbeath at Central Park, has pledged not to be distracted by speculation, with the Scottish Premier League season starting on July 23.

He said: "It doesn't affect me at all to be honest. You read stuff in the paper or when folk are texting you asking what's going on, but it's just the same response from me.

"I always say that, until anything is concrete, I'll come into Hearts every morning, get my head down and work hard.

"That's what I'll continue to do. I'll stay focused on the job in hand and that's how it should be."
