Roger Johnson today declared his wish to turn Wolves into a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old defender was paraded before the media today. after signing a four-year deal following the completion of his move from Birmingham on an undisclosed fee.
And the Carling Cup winner believes he can be part of a bright future at Molineux.
He said: “I want to make sure we stay in the Premier League and finish in mid-table. That would be a great start and then we can kick on from there.
“I’ve got to get in the team first and then hopefully I can play every game.
“I’ve been to the ground and seen the new stand going up so the club is going in the right direction so I’m just pleased to be part of it.”
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy also ruled out moves for Johnson’s former Blues team-mate Scott Dann and West Ham’s Matthew Upson.
McCarthy said: “When I’m sat here with Roger and we’ve also got Christophe Berra, Jody Craddock and Richard Stearman, it’s probably unlikely.
“No, I’ve got the centre-half I want – Dann played his best when he had Johnson alongside him.”
