Wolves losing out in Matt Mills bid
Thursday 7th July 2011, 11:30AM BST.
Wolves were today still clinging to the hope of signing Matt Mills – despite the Reading defender heading to Leicester for a medical.
The Foxes have had a bid accepted of £4.5million rising to £5.5million for the 24-year-old.
Mills, who had been due to report for the start of pre-season training with Reading today, was instead on his way to Leicester as the Royals’ Championship rivals attempt to drive through the move.
But, even as the player was being driven to the East Midlands, sources insisted “there are other clubs involved.”
Although Leicester have offered the better financial package, Mills wants to join Wolves because they can offer Premier League football.
But it remains to be seen whether chairman Steve Morgan is prepared to match Leicester’s big money offer.
