Wolves’ Mouyokolo loaned to Sochaux
Wednesday 29th June 2011, 2:00PM BST.
Wolves defender Steven Mouyokolo was today set to end his Molineux frustration after agreeing a move to French club Sochaux.
The lanky defender, who was a £2.5million signing this time last year from Hull, has moved back to his native France on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.
Mouyokolo, who only signed a four-year deal 12 months ago, was due to be unveiled by the French club later today.
A short statement on FC Sochaux’s website this afternoon read: “We register a second arrival with the loan, from Wolverhampton Wanderers, of the central defender Steven Mouyokolo.”
The French-born stopper only made four Premier League appearances for Wolves, including just two starts, plus three more in cups.
But the 24-year-old also suffered a series of niggling injuries and failed to dislodge Richard Stearman, Jody Craddock and Christophe Berra.
Mouyokolo’s departure means Wolves’ own pressing need for a new centre-half is nearing conclusion.
Chief target Matt Mills wants to move to Molineux – if the clubs can agree a fee.
