Jody Craddock signs new Wolves deal
Tuesday 28th June 2011, 9:00AM BST.
Jody Craddock today revealed his hopes to remain in contention for a first-team place at Wolves as they neared D-Day on Matt Mills.
Evergreen Craddock, who turns 36 next week, signed his new one-year deal yesterday after agreeing terms at the end of the season to enter his ninth campaign at Molineux.
“It was all done at the end of the season and was very straightforward,” said Craddock.
“It was just a matter of time while the contract was drawn up.
“This time last year I was maybe thinking it would be my last season which was fine.
“So to get another year is a big achievement.”
With at least one new centre-back expected this summer, Craddock is more than happy to compete for his place.
“It’s never a problem when a new centre half comes in – I say that every year,” he said.
“It’s what we need at Wolves to help the club push on.”
Meanwhile, Mills was due to see Reading boss Brian McDermott today in a bid to engineer his move to the Premier League.
The 24-year-old has his heart set on a top-flight move and is understood to be prepared to lodge a transfer request.
