Wolves’ friendly at Forest cancelled
Monday 27th June 2011, 11:00AM BST.
Wolves’ pre-season friendly away to Nottingham Forest has been cancelled.
The Championship club have recently appointed Steve McClaren as their new manager and he has rescheduled Forest’s pre-season fixture list.
The game was due to take place on Wednesday August 3.
Molineux officials expect to announce a replacement game shortly for the midweek of July 26-27, which was previously blank.
Wolves could be in line for another away friendly after Celtic boss Neil Lennon revealed on Twitter yesterday “we may play Wolves,” after being asked if the team were playing any friendlies at Celtic Park.
Celtic left today for a pre-season tour of Australia.

It’s all well and good organising a game for July, what will our team be?
I really hope we don’t start as we did last season, we want to get on the front foot from the first game.
We need to get our team organised and we cannot do that if we don’t bring players in in time.
One of the posters to another article said it’s not July yet, well it is in a few days!
Sleep walking into the new season!

Clearly Mclaren is making his mark by cancelling all these friendlies as he attempts to show us all what a world class coach he has become. I recall trying to do a similar thing on Championship Manager – which just about sums up Mclaren’s level!!

@1 – The Flying Winger – its good to get teh team out early and match ready as soon as possible, as long as there are no injuries the results dont count.
i disagree that we should wait for new signings. we are all eager, but should we wait? should we not get 95% of our players fit first and get a jump start on the rest of the division? Should we not show off the players we want to offload to scouts? or shall we wait for all the signings to be done – then when we have a full team – only then start trainig / playing friendlies?
we will sign players, i am looking at least 8 or 9 times a day. . . but we all haver to refrain from loosing touch wityh common sense.
ppl are being crazy and saying that we should not be release statments that we are no longer interested in players, but we have to understand, its a ploy tyo say we are not desperate. . . . get with the program, there is a lot of psycology involed in negotiation and sales! of any tpype . . . we cant appear despereate and dependant on one player!

3, Bilston Wolves, There is merit in what you say, however if the new players are not in early enough then you know what happens, poor performances are down to the team not being to gel etc.
The current players have shown time and again they are not good enough for the PL, so it will be a big mistake to start with the defence as it was last season, esp relying on Craddock (fitness).

But they are good enough for the Prem, we are still there I think?
Friendly games are to see who looks good and who doesn’t. Try new systems etc… no panic.
After 1st July we will see some signings, but as Bilston says, its not a good idea to do say what Sunderland do…flash the cash and talk about everyone.
We need the right players at the right price…we don’t want to do a Bradford, Hull, Leeds.. I could go on.

@ The Flying Winger
your right too, but there are no guarentees in the transfer market, we have to go on as planned and hope it fits together. lets start getting ppl fit again and all cylinders firing. .. . esp hunt back in his super form at the end of last season. . . .
