Wolves complete Dorus De Vries move
Wednesday 22nd June 2011, 10:00AM BST.
Wolves today unveiled their second summer arrival with Swansea goalkeeper Dorus De Vries signing a three-year contract.
The 30-year-old is understood to have undergone a medical yesterday and follows Jamie O’Hara into Molineux as the club’s second signing in as many days.
Former Holland under-21 international De Vries has signed on a Bosman free transfer after rejecting a lucrative new deal to stay at the Premier League’s newest club, who have lined up Polish goalkeeper Grzegorz Sandomierski from Jagiellonia Bialystokas as his replacement.
De Vries will solve Wolves’ goalkeeping dilemma after they released Marcus Hahnemann and Adriano Basso at the end of last season.
And the new signing will provide competition for first choice Wayne Hennessey and Carl Ikeme.
By moving to Wolves, he has shown his determination to challenge for his place as he has given up his place after being a virtual ever-present for the last four years in South Wales.
Six-foot one De Vries made 203 appearances for the Swans and broke their record for clean sheets in 2009-10 with 25 shut-outs.
After joining from Dunfermline in 2007 where his last game was in the Scottish Cup final against Celtic, he won two promotions, from League One in 2007-08 and to the Premier League in May.
Known for his excellent distribution and handling, he played as a centre-half until he was 15.
De Vries started his career in his native Holland with Telstar, before three years with Wolves’ 1971-72 UEFA Cup opponents ADO Den Haag.

Welcome indeed!! I called for Robert Green or Shay Given to be signed up but this seems like a good bit of business. Still need two centre halfs and a left back of quality.
At least it shows that we are ready to buy!!

Sounds like a decent signing, but now lets get on with the real business of the summer. O’Hara we already knew about new keeper still a bit unsure if we actualy needed one Hanaman was an ok back up for my money. Lets now get some exciting signings in.
Cmon the Wolves

Excellent news in the last few days. Now all we need is 2/3 more and i think we all know that consists of 1 maybe 2 centre backs and a left back. With the correct signings their we have poetentially a side that could finish in the top half of the table. I know there are a lot of Mick haters out there, but everything he has said he will deliver he has done so far ( fair enough a bit close to comfort at times, but it just makes it all the more exciting). Not so sure he would have been my first choice to buy but now he’s a Wolf so I’ll support him 100%. No. 1 question remains will he seriously push Hennessey for the jersey? I’m sure if the lad forgives me, there are other more exciting signings hopefully just around the corner, like Matt Mills and another centre half.

Another ‘young and hungry’ player. I think this will be another one of 3M’s good siginings. I think other than a few bad ones (hoff, halford, hill) most of the sigings have been good.
Welcome to Wolves lad

Just wondering why anyone would give up a guarenteed starting place in Swanseas 1st team for a place on the bench at Wolves.
Anyhow, welcome to Wolves!
