Danny Batth wanted back at loan club
Thursday 9th June 2011, 3:00PM BST.
Sheffield Wednesday were today pleading with Wolves to let central defender Danny Batth continue his education at Hillsborough next season.
The Brierley Hill-born stopper was a huge hit at Wednesday over the final months of the season, which saw the fallen Sheffield giants halt a worrying slide towards the League One relegation zone.
Batth played in all 10 games for which he was available and formed an acclaimed new central defensive partnership with Rob Jones, a loan signing from Scunthorpe.
Manager Gary Megson wants the pair reunited for the new season and, having secured Jones’ signature on a free transfer, is now turning his attention to Batth again.
Sources at Hillsborough yesterday confirmed that Megson wants Batth back and has discussed the prospect with Wolves boss Mick McCarthy.
