Marcus Hahnemann makes Wolves exit
Thursday 2nd June 2011, 1:00PM BST.
Wolves were in the market for a new keeper today after confirming that Marcus Hahnemann is leaving the club.
The departure of the popular 38-year-old American – who is set for talks with MLS side Seattle – leaves the door open for the arrival of a new man to challenge No.1 Wayne Hennessey and Carl Ikeme.
A name already in the frame is highly-rated Coventry keeper Keiren Westwood, who is out-of-contract at the Ricoh Arena.
“We think Carl and Wayne are capable of holding down the first-team role and we want the new man to be able to do the same,” said Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey.
“We see little point in recruiting someone who does not have that kind of potential – to step into the first team and play 10 or 12 games without a problem. He may be the third man in – but we want him to be capable of being the first man.”
