Wolves Res 3 West Ham Res 1

Goalkeeper Carl Ikeme made his comeback as a young Wolves reserve side ended their home season on a winning note with a win over West Ham at AFC Telford.

Ikeme, who was making his first appearance since a shoulder operation, had little to do last night after picking the ball out of the net from a second minute Julian Faubert opener.

Wolves pulled themselves back into through two goals either side of the break from right-back Matt Doherty, before winger Johnny Gorman sealed it.

Faubert lobbed Ikeme after goalkeeper Ruud Boffin’s long clearance bounced into his path.

Wolves threatened through Leigh Griffiths after he ran through the defence only to be denied by Boffin, before levelling in the 25th minute.

Doherty fired home from the right after taking Louis Harris’ pass in his stride.

The hosts went close to going in front when Griffiths and Liam McAlinden dragged efforts wide before a George Moncur for West Ham hit the side netting.

Ashley Hemmings fired narrowly over but Wolves went in front in the 50th minute when the overlapping Doherty lashed the ball home on the angle, after taking Gorman’s pass in his stride.

Moncur curled just over before Wolves made it 3-1 five minutes later.

And it was a moment to savour for Gorman, as the Northern Ireland international dummied Daniel Potts before curling inside the far post from virtually on the byline.

Twice Rooney, who is searching for a new club, fired over as Wolves sought a fourth goal, before Anthony Forde lashed just off target after running at the defence.
