Worst Wolves yet for Mick McCarthy

Worst Wolves yet for Mick McCarthy

Grim-faced manager Mick McCarthy has blasted the performance at Stoke as Wolves’ poorest under him after his side folded at the Britannia Stadium.

The 3-0 defeat last night was Wolves’ third in four games and they remain second bottom.

And boss McCarthy, who has been in charge for nearly five years, groaned: “That was as poor as we’ve played. There was nothing from that performance to lift us.

“We’re in a scrap for Premier League survival and we’ve no chance if we play like that.

“We need more of a ‘Mick McCarthy performance,’ which that wasn’t and that was hugely disappointing.”

The Wolves boss called on his players to recall their famous wins over the big teams to inspire them to stay up.

He said: “We have to remember some of the performances during the season – the nine games we’ve won when we played very well.

“Playing for Premier League survival should be enough to motivate them.”

McCarthy has vowed this will be the last below-par display this season.

He said: “Rest assured we’ll be a lot better by the time the Birmingham game comes along.

“However we play, we have to compete better than that. They were better than us, stopped us playing and were a far better team than us – we just weren’t there at all.

“Last night was never going to be ‘make or break’ but, with four games left, we’ve got to play a damned sight better.

“It’s my team, my selection, my way how we set up so I guess it’s my fault and me to blame, not the players.

“We came up against a team more ‘at it’ from the start. But I don’t fear the players have lost their belief.

“It’s a difficult time when you’re in the bottom three playing against a good side who have just got to Wembley and played very well.”

McCarthy believes now isn’t the time to berate his players, for fear of them switching off.

He added: “We had words in the dressing room, but not in terms of tongue-lashings because sometimes that doesn’t achieve anything.

“I gave out some of that on Saturday and too much of it wears a bit thin.”

Wouldn’t mind an explanation as to why Adam Hammill wasnt even in the squad.

I love wolves to pieces and I am a very positive supporter but I think going down will be the best thing for us…so we can get rid of some dead wood and maybe have a bit of a change at the club.

    Enough!

I love Mick but I think he has taken us as far as he can.
The defence has clearly needed strengthening for two seasons and nothing has happened. We need to regroup in the Championship and leave those behind who have no ambition.

Sadly looking forward to the Barnsley’s for the next couple of years or so!!

Thats right Mick. It is time for you to do the decent thing and go.

Steven Ward, is a consummate professional, maybe not the best player, but he tries his hardest. When he is asked to play three positions in one match, you have to question the managers tactics.

Hennessey, whilst a good shot stopper, is very poor at commanding his box and I would like to see Hahnemann brought back in for the last few games of the season.

Berra seems to be rapidly going downhill from average earlier on the season. His only game now seems to pull shirts.

Mr tough man Henry- needs to keep his mouth shut off the field and only open it on the field. He has been appalling since he came back into the team.

Jarvis seems to have an overinflated opinion of himself now and has not played well recently.

Hit and hope last night, we played like a team who didn’t know each other- possibly because they don’t know each other as they never know from one week to the next what position they are going to play!

I am so glad I couldn’t get the time off to go last night and watched it on ESPN instead. I won’t have that luxury on Sunday.

Stay up or get relegated McCarthy must go.

How soul destroying can this get? I can’t help but think that is pretty much it!

We are leaking goals left, right and central. Cannot score the other end. Look tactically naive and very short on creativity.

Kites is not ready to come back and looks hopelessly lost, O’Hara seems to have lost his mojo over recent weeks and the defensive unit I fear would struggle in League One!

You don’t become a bad team overnight but this team look a million miles from the one that took on Villa, Man Utd and Chelsea only a matter of weeks ago! Which begs the question where does the problem lie?

If we do go down (and that must be almost a racing certainty now) then love him or hate him but there is no better manager to get us out of that league than MM! You only have to hope that if we do make it back out of the Championship in the near future that we give the Premier League a better go next time round.

I hate to be so negative but I’m afraid my rose tinted specs got trampled on last night!!!!

As regards (1), mainly true but the players are also culpable as they are the ones who should do it on the pitch. Outthought, outfought, and outclassed came to mind last night.

Concerning(2), if the result of Mick’s tongue lashing on Saturday was the inept display against Stoke, you can only conclude that he has lost the respect of the dressing room as it was quite clear that nobody was listening to his words of “wisdom”.

I have been calling for Mick to leave since we got promoted as many other true Wolves fans.Mick’s Premiership record is appalling the worst ever of any premiership manager.
I have nothing against him but he just does not have the self beleif to do well at this level. We through all this season have had chances to get out of the mire we find ourselves in.Stoke beat us ok we can live with that,in our last 4 games we have created 4 chances !! our defence as been appalling and captiulates at the mereset sign of pressure.Mick now says it is due to being in the bottom three, yet all season Mick as been saying that we are best equipped to handle the bottom three due to the fact of being there.Mick is confused and lost this can be detected very clearly by the interviews the constant contradiction.
Manager at this level need to have a plan and stick with it,mick as no plans and is simply out of his depth. This does not mean he is not a decent being he is ,but this is not about one man and his ego, this is about a whole club connected to thousands and thousands of people across the world.
Mick talks about players giving every ounce of blood for the cause,in the last 4 games this as not been the case,we only need to review the last two performances and you can figure out troubles exist at the club.
We are not able to do the basics,we have no nous going forward or defending it seems very wishy washey.Clubs around us atleast have some methods to there play,Blackpool are still playing attractive football and look like they can score,we are not even creaating!!Stoke will not beat blackpool 3-0 this weekend.!Blackpool will create and create against them.
We only have 4 more chances left and I just cant see how we are going to win ? as we are not able to create, and at our own end we are hopeless at defending.
There are a thousand and one reasons as to why it as to be goodbye to mick.
The only reason he shoild stay is if he is given a job in MORGAN’S personal buisness as a reward for steering us up to the prem.
A few weeks ago mick was setting a target of four wins now its four draws…………GET OUT!

Started with 9 players from the Championship last night despite spending 30 mill in two years is this the best we can do.
Shocking performance no passion second to the ball on most occasions ,it would have been 5-0 but for Hennesy.
With our poor defence 451 was the only option but no out tactical genius swaps it to 442 with no cover for our dodgy defence.
Dont worry if we go down we will only lose two or three players,Doyle,Fletcher,Jarvis the rest wouldnt get in Blackpools team.

Mick as marked his own card and it’s dire reading.I still beleive we can stay up,I and a few other wolves fans can do the job for free for the last four games and I can say we will win three,BLUES,WEST BROM AND BLACKBURN can and should be beaten.Sunderland is an either way game as we are away it favours them most. All I would do is play players in there specialised positions, play players that are 100% fit and focused and play players who can go forward and play with some know how.
Simply tell the players “we are at such a stage now that we can only go up as mick as us relegated already,so lets show no fear and go and WIN,NOT BE LOOKING FOR A DRAW!Showing fear and letting the pressure get to them is of no benefit as either way we will go DOWN.So go out and win the games, fight till you drop, put fear in the opponents and play with no pressure and remain totally focused for thw whole game and this applies to every player playing.”

If that’s the way we’re going to play to attempt to get out of relegation then we deserve to go down. There was no passion, no fight, no determination (apart from Hennessey who pulled of some fine saves and spared our drubbing blushes). When we did have the ball, there was no movement, no runs, no help. The ball only went sideways or backwards and rarely forwards. On the odd occasion that the ball did go forwards, the pass was terrible or the first touch was awful. We looked nervous from start to finish and didn’t have a hope of scoring. We mustered 1 shot on target the whole 90 minutes.

I try to keep the faith but after watching that, it has diminished to very little.

10 Wulfrunian, yes the players are probably good enough to keep us up, but MM and Clipboard are not. Inept team selection, obscure tactics and a complete lack of method on how to break teams down and kill them off.
MM has too many favourites in this club that simply have to play (Henry and Ward are prime examples). I’ve lost count of the number of players who have said something to MM and then suddenly disappear into obscurity – Jones, Van Damme and now Hammill??
Mick is a stubborn Yorkshireman and it’s his way or the highway – you’ve seen how many times he has had a go at the fans – imagine being a player for him……There is no way he’ll resign because the way he is doing things couldn’t be bettered by anyone else.
As much as I don’t want trips to Brighton and Doncaster next season, I can’t see us getting out of this.
MM and Clipboard are out of their depth at this level.

4 poor matches in a row at the most crucial stage of the season, playing Championship defenders and mostly Championship midfielders. Most of the permanent signings the past two years are either injured, on the bench/in the stands or loaned out. And if a fan dares to offer a word of criticism, he is termed a “numpty”. Having been to the Fulham game on Saturday I thought the majority of the players looked tired and sluggish. As I listened to the match on the internet last night this appears to have carried through to the Stoke game as we were completely cut apart and lacked energy, confidence and passion. The reality is we have 4 games to go and only 1 point from safey. Best case, we need only 2 draws! A win against either Blues or the Albion and a win against Blackburn will do it. Any extra points along the way will be a welcome bonus. With 2 wins we will have accumulated more moints than last season (all be it only 1!). The teams coming up will be worse than the teams coming down so that should be motivation to stay in the league.
Save all of your moaning till 4pm 22nd May when we will know for sure our fate. Until then we are still in the Premier league.

To be honest I am fed up with the same excuses l seem to hear from Mick, what was that team selection about last night, for god’s sake why was Foley not in at right back?, Milijas not playing and the fact he is our best passer of the ball, Mancienne plays for the first time in months, and unfit and not quite at full tilt Kightly when you have Hammill on the bench.

As much as I love Mick we should have had the guts to say look enough is enough and got rid of him in January like they did down the road with Di Matteo and look where they are now.

Fact is Mick although a quality manager in the Championship not good enough in the Premier League and his faith in average footballers astounds me, why was a centre half not bought in with a decent left back in the transfer window?, i’m sorry but were going down and knowing what usually happens to this club it will be Albion who seel our fate.

I have supported this club for a good few decades now and will continue to do so until I pop my clogs so to speak, but it pains me to see some of the performances that have been put in over the last few games.

They have just given way and capitulated, the first two goals against stoke their players were given so much room it was unbelievable, why were they not picked up before they got inside the six yard area.

Why oh why does he continually have to tinker with the team from one game to the next, why did he drop Guedioura who has been putting some good performances since coming back and replacing him with Mancienne (Chelsea can keep him), dropped Milijas and put in Kightly, who is not ready at all for this (he should have gone out on loan) and Hammill not even on the bench. Why was Foley on the bench who is a natural defender? I must admit that I thought Craddock would steady the defence and I fully admit that I was totally wrong he was just taken apart.

I really fail to understand his thinking at times and must admit have never been a fan of his since he was appointed. How can someone who played as a defender not produce what should be one of the strongest defences out? Why has he always looked at strengthening midfield and attack and not defence?

Mr Morgan must surely be having second thoughts about keeping MM on? I’m with the suggestion someone made earlier, get big Sam in with Ray Wilkins, he would really get them to put a shift in then.

I would really like to think that miracles do happen but as a realist I think the writing is on the wall if the last few performances are anything to go by.

I agree with the vast majority of the sentiments. We are going backwards and certainly can’t blame Doyle’s absence with the debacle last night. With Doyle’s injury MM needed only bring in Fletch and continue with Hammell and Foles on the right with Milijas in midfield. Kites needs a full pre-season(like SEB did). Foley must feel sick. Best full-back in club and has to move for Stearman who has been playing awful in the middle-obviously one of Mick’s boys.
Needed massive strengthening of defence in Jan and we bought in a kid from Dundee who isn’t within a mile of the first team, a winger (good winger) who is no longer in squad and a central midfielder who no has his sights on moving on after the season has finished.
Big Sam would big my choice. Proven track record, gets the defence sorted and would allow us to stabilise as a Prem team and kick on.

I didn’t want to renew mine during the early bird window I thought I would pay a little more because the value for money we are getting is unbelievable.
I think they should increase them a little more so we can get some more of our premier league players on longer contracts. This should stop anyone coming and poaching the likes of Ward, Stearman, Berra, Henry, Elokobi.

Ward and Stearman need to be dropped – Foley at left back and Moyokolo at right back.

I think MM is a likeable, decent human being who gives his all to our great club…. but unfortunately he just ain’t good enough at this level.

Whilst there is still plenty to play for this season mathematically, relegation now appears to be a racing certainty given our performances over the last 4 games – we seem to have lost whatever belief existed in the club that we could survive. Not being defeatist or anti MM for the sake of it… just a realist.

In the meantime, really hope we can muster some pride and passion from somewhere to avoid potentially humiliating defeats against Small Heath & Sandwell. I fear that things could get ugly at the Mol if Sandwell do their worst when we next play them!!

    43) Correct but there is a 1 goal difference and if Blackpool lose, that will not be the case. If Stoke play like that at Blackpool on Saturday, they will definitely beat them. Pennant and Jones were quality.
A lot of that team from last night do not deserve a shirt on Sunday but we are down to bare bones in some areas. I suggest a mass overhaul and have a team that looks something like this:-

Hahnemann Mancienne Craddock Stearman Foley Hammill O’Hara Guedioura Milijas Jarvis Fletcher

Hennessey made some good saves last night but it is time for experience and someone who shouts at defenders and will come and claim crosses!

What I wasn’t prepared for was being the subject of a demolition job from which we emerged with our confidence badly battered. It’s our team’s state of mind going into these final four games that seriously worries me. Survival is still a possibility but are we still in any shape to achieve it?

No-one has had a chance to settle into the team changing from one week to the next, hes never known his best team, and his £mill’s of signings exchanged for the champoinship team that got us here. Fletcher may have been fantastic for us if given something more than a half chance stop start dissapear stop stop start chance in the team. Defence – What defence. We all knew the fundemental problems with the team, but relied on the “Wolves spirit” to carry us through. From the last few performences Im sad to say, that spirit has gone.

The numerous disappointments of championship seasons ending in failure are eclipsed by this shambles of a season. We talked the big talk with crap about being a top six club and success being linked to the wage bill blah, blah, blah. We wasted cash on players; we stuck by a poor manager in the hope that continuity was better than hire and fire. Well I can tell you if you have no talent then loyalty won’t put talent where there is none. I “enjoyed” the Fulham game less than any game I can ever remember, in any division, home or away. I have a season ticket and have renewed for next season but I’ve had enough for now. I’ll be back in August, as usual, but when enjoyment is swapped for bitter disappointment and borderline humiliation I think it’s time to keep away for a short time. Good luck to my football team but, no matter which division we end up playing in next season, for God’s sake change the manager.

Well we’ve gone full circle under Mick and soon we’ll be home back amoungst the Barnsleys of this world..

Granted Mick did a great job turning around the mess of “Hoddlegate”

Mick had a very sizable budget in the summer to address the areas which needing adressing.. This budget was bigger than most around us, but still since day one of Micks tenure we have no proper left back.. Ok Van Damme sadly didn’t work out, but as Mick bought him in you would have thought he would of replaced him in Jan…

I’ve said for months that the defence unless strengthened would cost us and its proving so now.. its our achilies heal.. Becuase the deffence is not weak, the midfield sits back, because the midfield sits back they struggle to support the forward/forwards.. Its not rocket science, and really only needed tinkering with some true quality in the back four..

For a former centre half Mick has a shocking record at signing defenders (Foley aside)

GUEDIOURA IN PLEASE has been great 2 matches now in a row..HAMMILL IN and FOLEY IN at RB!

Kightly not up for it yet.. Jarvis at LB so we keep up the pace at both wings..HUNT IN at LW..

Get some adrenaline going and play some attacking football so we dont get pressure on our defence all the time!! But that requires midfielders with some technical skills!! not mancienne who clearly is a defender and everyone sees that!

This is my opinion and im sure more people agree in some of my ideas…

Team selection last night was appalling. Would love to have overheard the conversation between MM and TC when picking it. I personally think that Connor is a big part of the problem. He really doesn’t come accross as inspirational or full of ideas and our training (and I’ve been to watch it a few times) is very one dimensional, a bit like our play! Everyone knows stoke are a team that will always break through any defence eventually so the only way to counteract this is to score a couple first. This means an attacking formation.

Hunt, Hammill, Guedioura, Jones, Milijas, Vokes all players who can score goals on there own none of which started. Instead we opted for an ex striker at left back a full back at right back another full back in midfield and Henry might as well be a 5th full back too.

Dropping Foley is a joke. Stearman can’t cross and with Kightly lacking in pace that whole wing was none existent.

Finishing the game with 4 full backs in defence and were sitting ducks. I remember in January Mick says were OK at left back and don’t need to sign anyone how wrong you were. All you did was sign a 4th winger who never plays anymore.

8 Million on a striker who only gets a game because everyone else is injured.

Everyone but Mick could see our defence was rubbish. It was rubbish last season and it was rubbish in the Championship. 3 years he’s had to sort it out but he hasn’t.

I would drop HENRY, who I think is hopeless, and play Milijas. At least he’s creative and gives us more options going forward.

I would also drop Hennessesy whom I don’t rate at all, and play Hanneman.

McCarthy won’t do either though. So gawd help us .

I’ve been saying for a couple of weeks that Mancienne should be given a go at left back. We all know what WARD can’t do, so may as well try someone new.

It’s going to be a very very long season next year, regardless of which league we are in.

    Questions for Mick:
    1) Why do you still not know what your best team is after all this time? (Too much tinkering)
    2) Why do you think Kightly having just come back from a 2-year absence is suddenly better than Hamill for this relegation fight?
    3) Why do you persist in picking midfielders who keep giving the ball away, when you refuse to play one (David Jones) who knows how to keep it?
    4) Why do you suddenly think that an aging Craddock is going to be our saviour?
    5) Admitted Foley wasn’t at his best against Newcastle & Everton, but how is it fair to drop him so quickly when the other clown Elokobi gets away with murder week in, week out? (I’ve played with better left-backs in the Sunday League).
It’s not last night’s result that tells me we’re down, it’s the manner of the defeat – they are just totally devoid of confidence now and I can’t see where a goal’s coming from, never mind a point. Anyway, Brighton have a brand new stadium for us to visit !

This was not our worst performance of the season. That distinction belongs to the Boxing Day performance against Wigan. Understandably, Mick seems to be able to blank out poor performances, which is why Henry & Ward continue to get in the side.

I remember an episode of Jimmy McGovern’s Cracker, when Fitz gets home and throws bundles of cash in the air expecting his wife to be thrilled at his win on the horses. She’s angry instead because (as she explains) it just perpetuates his gambling and she will have to put up with day after day of misery from countless failures that he manages to justify with one big win every now and again. I felt the same when Ward scored his goal against Liverpool and when Henry got his MOTM against Fulham.

MM is a good CHAMPIONSHIP manager not a premier league manager. His record states that, good Managers can attract quality players, unlike Mick who buys players who have played in similar relegation battles and failed. Hunt, myoloko, fletcher, doyle, hahnemann… as well as keeping most of last years squad who just managed to avoid relegation. How many players have the Albion got playing for them from when they got relegated 2 years ago!!!! I am trying to be an optimist and hope that this week will provide miracles, but since the tottenham game we look tired and bereft of idea. Deeply disappointed with last nights performance, Wolves showed no pride or passion what so ever. We didn’t even look capable of creating a goal which is rather worrying. Not once in the last two games have i seen Stearman overlap or offer any kind of attacking support, surely Foley is a better option. As for the left flank, Jarvis has gone completely off the boil! Mancienne looked more solid at left back but again offers no attacking support as he’s all right footed. We worked the ball into good areas last night to whip in crosses but we seem to slow things down far to much. On numerous occassions Stoke whipped in early balls to the box and caused us problems all night. We won’t score if we can’t get the ball into the oppositions box! Then Mick should go, his tactical awareness revolves around ‘stopping the other team’, but to be honest if he had sorted the defence out 2 seasons ago, he wouldnt have to worry about our opponents quite so much, and could focus on doing what we can do quite well – attacking!

So my view is, cheer on the team, and attack attack attack, go down fighting!

Mick, forget the other teams and playing central midfielders on the right wing in order to cancel out the threat posed by the opposing full back (?????????), get hammill back in the team, get a proper shape and go for it. Have you lost your bottle Mick?

I have been a season ticket holder for over 20 years & I am now finished with Wolves until McCarthy walks or is sacked.
I am not going to our remaining matches at home I just can’t imagine what Albion will do to us!
I have purchased my early bird for next season but until this total clown of a manager has gone I aint going.
I think a few others should do the same and then Morgan might get the message and do something about it!

The back lash was inevitable and fully justified, although a lot of it is the same old recycled stuff we’ve been hearing from the usual lot most of the season.
We have to look at it from a purely professional point of view now and not get emotional, cos, hopefully that’s how the players and the management will, and we are where we are.
I said after the Newcastle and Everton debacles not to make wholesale changes. The players who had performed so well this year, up to and including the Villa match were surely the best ones to sort it, less the injuries of course.
Why Craddock, Mancienne and particularly Kiteley have been drafted in is beyond me.
O’Hara and Milijas need a kick up the backside; what a pity Dave Edwards isn’t fit to give that awful midfield of ours some bottle.
I don’t normally pick teams it always seems a pointless excercise, but, we have to make do with what we got, good or poor and not draft in players coming back from long term injuries and a yard off the pace..
    Hennessey
Foley,Stearman, Berra, Ward (maybe Mouyoloko LB ?)
    Hammill, Milijas, O’Hara, Henry, Jarvis
    Fletcher
We now really are down to ‘must win’ matches, but, unless the players can find some confidence and spirit from somewhere, and the manager finds the plot he seems to have lost, it looks like Brighton next season.
Finally, on O’Hara. Someone on this thread has suggested he is made captain. After the Albion and Blackpool performances I may have agreed, but, recent performances show him to be lazy and disruptive and certainly not a leader.
Will the real Jamie O’Hara please step forward. (for 4 matches)

Let’s stop the bickering and look to the future. I have gotten fed up of telling you where McCarthy was taking us.
Next season the Championship and a NEW manager.
Unfortunately the drop will rule Martin O’Neil out of the equation.
Ian Holloway with his all action attacking style is a much better option than the dire, no tactics, that we’ve had in the Premier, but if Blackpool stay up he won’t move.
Gus Poyet is an up and coming manager with the right attitude but he will already have a team in the championship.
So even if miracles of miracles happen and we survive McCarthy has to GO and be replaced by Big Sam, a local no nonsense manager.

Think we’ll have to take a standing eight count after that result last night.

The truth of the matter #96 is that we haven’t won a match since Doyler was injured. Last time he played, we won 0 – 1 away to Villa, yes he didn’t score but yes we won. Next match, lost 4 – 1 away to Newcastle with the same team bar E-B for Doyle. And we know the story since. Wolfman you got a point, speedy recovery Kevin.

Mick needs to do some pretty serious thinking between now and Sunday. At least he won’t be wondering how B’ham will play, seeing as they’re coming off two defeats on the spin and shipping eight goals in the process.

Keep the peckers up my fellow dogears.

I watched the highlights of last nights game on sky after the Man Utd match. To me it looked like the players have given up hope….huffing n puffing, heads bowed low and 2 defenders ball watching as the first goal went in….

What has happened to O-Hara?? Before the Spurs match he was voicing his passion to get points to help stear his newly beloved Wolves to safety….and playing like a man possessed and dare i say it close to international style performances in my opinion! Yet last night he was guilty of giving the ball away way too much.

Stoke totally outplayed us, true they are tough at their place to beat but damn….they steam rolled us as our players looked like they just wanted to go home! After the Everton game in which we lost 3-0 by half time i wasnt so….upset as i knew we had played very well for about 20 mins n lost to 3 wonder goals, 3-0 flattered Everton, but last nights game was upsetting as it was embarrasing to see a team who talk about having the desire n belief to get wolves to prem safety….yet last night it looks like all that has changed…hope it improves soon or WBA will be the ones who will relegate us and NONE of us can live with that no matter what!!!

    Love da Wolves!!!

After watching the Stoke game, I am, for the 1st time convinced we are toast.
The last 3 games have been very bad and I do not know why. Before these last 3 games, we were flying, playing good football with great spirit. Now we are playing without a clue and with little spirit. Is it because of Doyle? If so, now what do we do with Fletcher injured?
MM makes mistakes with his selections and then cannot change on the fly to alter the outcome of a game. He is showing himself to be one of dozens of managers who are average (At the most), championship grade and who will never be successful in the premier league.
For the next 2 years we need a manager with experience and success in the Premier, there are 3 that I think qualify and are available. We need at least 20M to be spent on players with top flight experience, (But who, worth their salt, will come to a relegated team) not players from the championship or relegated teams and we need a youth policy to continue building good backup players for the longer term future.
Will any of this happen? I will let you know as I am looking at my tea leaves at this moment.
This is much worse than the last time.

It pains me to say this MM but it is time for you to go.This is a bit reminiscent of when Wolves came down to the Championship during the 2004/2005 season when Dave Jones lost his job at Wolves.Dave Jones ran out of ideas, out of time & out of favour as one bad result followed another.
It now appears that you are doing exactly the same thing as your predecessor did, playing players out of position (or square pegs in round holes as he used to call it).

Enjoyable as they were, the victories over the ‘big boys’ have only served to obscure the overall short comings which are now so evident. The objective at the start of the season for any club of our stature was to identify those sides likely to accompany us in the lower reaches and to concentrate all our energies into maximising points gained against them. From a potential 12 avaialble from W.Ham and Wigan combined we emerged with a fortunate single point.Never enough, as is now evident.

The majority of the Wolves fans wouldnt argue to the fact that Carl Henry is too defensive minded. We would all prefere to see a change in the centre of the park. Why not try Putting henry in defence? Hes played there for us before. when mick first took over he played him there for a few games as we were short at the back and he did a job. Luton away he played full back we won 1-0. I know this is the prem but we need another option as the current options arent working!!
After alls said and done it is time for a change!
Big Sam has often said what a massive club wolves were and was interested after he left Newcastle. I feel his way of thinking and how he sets his teams up would suit the way we play!
Dudley Lad, Black country through and through. use to be critisised at bolton for playing long ball and playing ugly! Dosent matter does it! In this Results matters world!
Thing was though he used to grind results out similar to what Tony Pulis is doing at Stoke now.. boy could we do with some of that now!!!

I am shocked at our deterioration after the great win at Villa. Losing Doyle? The focus on Matt Jarvis over England? Sadly we have NOT had contributions from all the squad and some of our pre-season signings have been duds! I am sad that Jones has barely played. This time last year he was awesome. He ran Hammers ragged at Upton Park in that great win. Something has gone on there and I would bet he moves on in summer …………to Bolton? Players coming back from injury aren’t on the money for us. Again, we can’t buy a goal this season and now we are struggling, with barely a striker fit. What a capitulation. It will need something extra-ordinary now. I can’t bare Championship football again. C’mon Wanderers………..one supreme 4 game effort. Out of darkness………….

I’m sure Henry, Berra, Elokobi and Ward are lovely fellas. They are just not premier league footballers. The same will be true for all players at the club if we let them drag us down.

Our biggest problem yesterday was that we gave Stoke absolutely nothing to worry about because we are playing two second rate defensive midfielders at the expense of a playmaker and striker, owing to the fact that our back four (pick any four even if they were all fit) are not up to the job.

I applauded the idea of playing with with two wingers but Kightly was rusty and Jarvis was playing like he knows his best chance of a decent job is if Wolves get relegated.

Hunt and Hammill should have been on before half-time except Hammill wasn’t even on the bench (WHY??). O’Hara looked tired. Henry was his usual clueless self (at one point he visibly paniced when he tried to perform his customary pirouette-du-sud and realised he was too close to the touchline). Ward was woeful at left back and only got anywhere near Pennant once (conceding a throw-in actually attracted some applause) before gettting rewarded with a role up front! HE IS A POOR LEFT BACK HE IS AN EVEN WORSE STRIKER. Hennessey is the only one who comes out of the game with any real credit. I lost count of our attempts at goal… because there weren’t any. BBC stats counted one but I think they just felt sorry for us.

I hope we stay up. I am not a happy clapper (see above) but I still hope Mick keeps his job because I think he’s worked a miracle to take us from the Hoddle era to where we are now. Having said that, we need a decent assistant with the backbone to point out that we need a whole new back four and show him videos of Paul Ince/Alex Rae to remind him what a decent combative central midfielder looks like [IT MOST DEFINITELY DOES NOT LOOK LIKE KARL HENRY].

I address the following comments to both the Chairman and the CEO.

If you think that your current management team are good enough to survive the Championship, you are totally lacking sound football judgement, They are Not !

If you think that the present set up will be in the top six and spend a season competing for promotion thus creating big gates, You are Wrong.

You have both allowed this manager far too much rope. He has never been a class act, nor will he ever be. He is less than average and far short of the skill and knowledge to manage a EPL team.

The current debacle lies firmly at your door, to have kept him on shows up your lack of knowledge also, neither of you is fit for purpose.

To all those who are calling for Big Sam, I agree, he could be the best thing for Wolves since Stan Cullis. Sadly, I believe he would rather stay away than work with this jumped up CEO.

Finally, those naively calling for Ince, Wrong! I watched him closely at MK and any success he had there was down to Ray Mathias. He would be an improvement on McCarthy as he has experienced life Playing in the top tier but he is still a ‘Greenhorn’ manager and a poor one.
