Five battles for Adlene Guedioura

Adlene Guedioura has admitted Wolves face ‘five battles to win the war’ as they prepare to lock horns with Stoke.

Wolves go to the Britannia Stadium tonight knowing a draw will lift them out of the bottom three.

But the Algeria World Cup midfielder is not only expecting a fierce contest tonight after Saturday’s 1-1 competitive draw against Fulham – but for the derbies against Birmingham and Albion and the subsequent clashes against Sunderland and Blackburn too.

Guedioura said: “We know it will be a battle against Stoke as well, but it was like that on Saturday. Every game is a battle that we have to win – all of the last five matches we have will be that way.

“Stoke play their way but we will try to do our best to win. We have all these battles left and I hope that at the end of the season, we can say we have won the war.

“That’s how we must approach these last five games. We will see what D-Day brings!

“But we’re prepared for everything because we have to be.”

Guedioura also believes he is getting better after playing his second game following six months out with a broken leg.

He said: “I feel good – I think I’m improving with each game I play, especially physically. I’m just trying to do everything I can to help us stay up.

“We last the previous two games then we have drawn one and maybe we will win the next one.”

Guedioura believes Wolves might need to win at least 50 per cent of their remaining games to win their survival battle.

He said: “I think we need to win two or three out of the five left to stay up.

“We don’t know what will be enough at the moment – until it is mathematically sure, we just have to look to win every game we can.

“It’s completely in our hands – we’re not waiting for other teams to make a mistake.”

Guedioura insisted the players have put Fulham’s late leveller behind him.

He said: “We didn’t lose against Fulham and it was a good point, so we need to look forward.

“We thought we could have won against Fulham but if we think too much about that game, we will not be ready for this next one, which has come very soon after.

“We have five games left and the battle continues. We’re fighting to stay up and that’s what we’ll carry on doing.”
