Wolves 1 Fulham 1

Saturday 23rd April 2011, 5:10PM BST.

Wolves 1 Fulham 1

Wolves were improved but had to settle for a hard-earned point against Fulham in a niggly clash.

Mick McCarthy’s side led through Steven Fletcher’s 22nd minute towering header against the run of play.

But Fulham, whose manager Mark Hughes was dismissed by referee Michael Oliver for his angry reaction to Brede Hangeland’s 57th minute booking, deservedly levelled through substitute Andy Johnson 10 minutes from time.

Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey had made a superb flying save from Carlos Salcido, while Clint Dempsey and Eidur Gudjohnsen both missed two excellent chances, while only a relatively tame effort from Fletcher threatened for Wolves.

And the equaliser came when Wolves, for whom Karl Henry and Fletcher were excellent, appeared to be heading for a priceless victory which would have lifted them out of the relegation zone.

Instead, McCarthy’s men moved just a place up to second bottom and a point from safety before West Ham’s game at Chelsea at 5.30pm.

McCarthy made three changes to the side beaten 3-0 by Everton two weeks ago.

Jody Craddock returned for his first Premier League start since October, as Kevin Foley dropped to the bench.

That saw a reshuffle with Richard Stearman moving across to right-back.

Nenad Milijas was recalled at the expense of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, who also found himself among the substitutes as Wolves reverted to 4-4-1-1, with Jamie O’Hara behind lone striker Fletcher.

The other change was the one that McCarthy confirmed earlier this week, with Stephen Ward recalled at left-back for the injured George Elokobi.

Fulham made the much brighter start and it was a nervous Wolves left hanging on in the early stages.

Left-back Salcido saw a superb rising shot from 30 yards brilliantly palmed away by Hennessey.

Then the visitors only just failed to turn the ball home after Simon Davies’ resulting corner had been headed back into the danger area by the unmarked Brede Hangeland at the far post, before Adlene Guedioura cleared.

Wolves had a let-off in the 14th minute when tempers became frayed as Stearman was only booked for a two-footed lunge on striker Eidur Gudjohnsen, when he appeared to go over the ball.

They had another reprieve three minutes later when Clint Dempsey ballooned over the bar from six yards with only Hennessey to beat after Steve Sidwell’s chip had exposed Wolves’ right side, with Salcido running on to volley the cross.

But, for once, Wolves weathered the storm and took the break they got in the 22nd minute.

Club-record signing Fletcher met Henry’s first-time cross with a towering header from six yards for his eighth goal of the season, in a move started by Guedioura’s run and pass outside Salcido.

The history between the teams meant it always promised to be a niggly affair and so it proved.

Guedioura and Fulham’s Bobby Zamora have both come back from broken legs to players on the opposite side this season .

Danny Murphy’s comments that Wolves are ‘too pumped up’ ensured he also received lengthy abuse before being substituted in the 69th minute.

Fulham and Dempsey missed another golden chance in the 42nd minute when the midfielder drilled wide, with the ball judged to have come off Christophe Berra’s foot.

O’Hara was then a yard wide with a turn and shot, after Fletcher headed down at the far post.

But the feisty nature of the game continued with Murphy leaving Henry grounded after an off-the-ball shove in the face.

Then, as the teams walked off at half-time, the pair had to be pulled apart while Fulham boss Hughes exchanged words with Stearman.

The niggles restarted on the resumption with Chris Baird booked for bringing down Matt Jarvis in full flight.

There was a moment of panic when Hennnessey dropped Baird’s cross, but the much-improved Henry was on hand to slide in ahead of Moussa Dembele.

Guedioura then tested Mark Schwarzer from 30 yards, with the goalkeeper saving at the second attempt on 50 minutes

Fulham wasted another chance three minutes later when Gudjohnsen skipped past Craddock and Stearman but, with a reducing angle and Hennessey to beat, the striker blazed over.

There was another flashpoint in the 57th minute – and this time it did result in a dismissal.

But it wasn’t one of the players as Fulham boss Hughes was sent to the stands, after Hangeland’s booking for a tackle from behind on Fletcher in front of the dugouts.

Fulham carried on creating chances and Gudjohnsen hooked over the unguarded goal, when Hennessey punched clear before Sidwell’s deflected shot was saved and substitute Gael Kakuta drilled straight at the goalkeeper.

But Wolves responded through the hard-working Fletcher, who curled wide after cutting in from the right before he fired too close to Schwarzer, whose poor kick had put his side in danger.

But Fulham got the goal they deserved in the 80th minute.

It was from the first touch from substitute Johnson, who turned and fired home from just inside the box, after fellow sub Zamora had outmuscled Berra to win Hangeland’s free kick.

Well I guess we are all disappointed, but it was always going to be a tall order to get the win today due to changing the formation again with too many midfield players losing us the home advantage of putting them under attacking play, and as has happened so many times this season we drop back in the second half trying to defend the one goal, we have again been punished at the back this afternoon for not signing a commanding CB, Berra being at fault again, along with changing formation and tactics again at too late a stage in the season.

This was a game we should have won, however we still have the game in hand, which can be our saving grace.

Poor performance and lucky to earn a point. With 7 players on that formed part of our Championship it was understandable. Far too negative up front and clueless at the back. The midfielders completely lacked shape and all played too central .Messrs Morgan and Moxey were absent so perhaps they know more than the rest of us. Another must win game goes begging, and to be fair we were lucky to get a point. Fulham put us under the cosh for the firtst 20mins and we somehow nicked a goal. Never looked like being enough and we hardly created another chance second half.

Other teams down with us are playing well. Blackpool were unlucky not to get three points and so were Wigan. Two great goals from Sandwell Town put them safe.

Its going down to the wire and I think we are lucky to be still in with a shout!

But i see it as 2 points dropped for Wolves again, problem is Mick’s negative tactics as normal, we have a decent side we have beaten the likes of Man U, Man City, Chelsea but its no good beating them if you dont pick up wins to the teams around you, & i think its cos of mick’s negative way of reading the game.

    example of this today

1-0 up at home, he decides after 60/70 mins he going to defend the slim lead, he takes off Milijas & puts on manciene (who’s barley featured this season & is natualy a defender) instead of switching Guediora into the middle and bringing on kites…

…. no, he waits till they bring on there two fresh strikers, lose the 3 points then panic and take guediora off for kites when too late, then lose our hieght upfront in fletcher for seb who at that point in the game when were on the back foot wont be as efective as fletcher !

I mean Johnson was on the pitch for 18 seconds, & SCORES ! (Berra at fault and all over players again).

Even saw Mick tellin the suporters to cheer them instead of groan, when on attack we we stop to pass back and waste time, thats NOT what you do at 1-0 mick you

Can’t believe MM stuck with the one winger and negative tactics after the poor performance against Everton . Adam Hammil surely must be better on the wing than Adlene Guedioura . We looked so dangerous with two flying wingers and Ohara tucked behind the forward but some reason MM has changed it and we’ve taken a massive step backwards. Problem is he’s so stubborn that he’ll play this for the rest of the season and take us down rather than admitting he’s wrong . Sandwell town are gonna smash us if he picks the same team :-(

Lucky to get a point from today’s game, I was very surprised at quality gap between our players and Fulham’s lot, the Londoners had so much more composure on the ball and patience, technically better than I originally thought before sat myself down before kick-off. The most alarming thing about Wolves was how sluggish they all looked considering they had no game last weekend, Fulham were so sharp to everything and we only scored against the run of play and really do much else, I was shouting at the players to just keep hold of the ball. I don’t know what Hammill has done wrong, I don’t think he’s been spectacular but he’s consistent in steady performance and brings balance to the side plus he knows what he’s doing out there. Again I do think Guedioura is way over rated just because of over ambitious shots and running about the pitch, how many times he lost the ball in the second half then again he’s not a winger, and another thing? Did we have leader out there today? No one in a Wolves shirt took control of the game for us; Fletcher did his best with whatever service he got and took his goal well. Performance wise the lads look like their tanks are nearly empty, with still the worse away record in the league we needed to win this game and the next two home games, its sadly looks like we are heading back down the championship unless a miracle happens

Well it wasn’t the result we all wanted, but it wasn’t the worse either. Lets see what Tuesday night’s game bring us,if we can get 1pt or even sneak all 3pts, that would take us out the bottom 3? Although i now only listen to the match on Beacon radio, it sounded like Henry played well even crossed it for Fletcher to score,i thought Fletcher played well, as he was mentioned alot on the radio, i thought O’Hara had a poor match, although its hard to tell on the radio, and Jarvis seems to have gone of the boil, like O’Hara as. Why does MM persist in playing AG has a wide man, when he always moves into the middle of the pitch, cause its his natural instinct to play there? Yet we’ve two far better Right wingers in Hammill / Kightly, who would be far better suited to the 4.5.1. system were you want two natural wingers? Good to see Fletcher score again, i have to say im sure MM had given SF more games, we wouldn’t be were we are today? But MM makes all the decisions not us, i also thought MM made the wrong choice in bringing an attacking mifielder Milijas off to replace him with a defensive player in Mancienne, with 26mins to play, which let Fulham push us back and concede a goal? Why didnt we keep the same shape until say last 10mins? UTW:

By my own predictions of the run in we are still up taking max points from last 2 home games and a point somewhere from our away games. You all need to look at who the other teams are playing in their last 4/5 games (some of them are playing each other) 40 pts will do, B’pool & B’burn have only taken 2 & 3 pts from their last 7/6 games! 1 The problem is not the formation,if we had not been defensive Fulham would have picked us off like Everton did the other week. The problem is the lack of quality players, all over the place. As a number have said on here,we have not done enough in the transfer market. It is too late now and we must live with yet another failed opportunity.Ironically,Mick wanted to sign Johnson in Jan, according to reports, Fulham wanted a full sale whilst Wolves would only do a loan deal.Another fine mess Mr Moxey.
2 Cullis, I agree, as I am sure all who attended the game will,Fletcher was excellent and Henry was back to his best form.As for O’Hara you are right,he is either totally out of form, carrying an injury or is just not bothered.Edwards would at least run and track back.

The overall effort was better than the last two disastrous performances but we hardly gave them a “lesson” did we? FUlham could fairly argue that they should have had all three points as they were the better team. Fletcher can take a lot of credit for his overall game and excellent goal. HEnnessey did much better in this game but Stearman was very lucky not to get thrown out for that dangerous lunge on the halfway line in the first half.

ANd what is the deal with Berra? Why does he continually grab the opponents shirt even in safe areas of the pitch? Personally, I thought Jarvis was really poor today and O’Hara was below par.

OVerall, the games this Saturday leave us in a similar potion but there was little here today to suggest nothing but a gut wrenching end to our season. Stoke next and I cannot see a three pointer coming our way on the strength of this performance

It’s still in our hands, but I really can’t see how we’re going to win when morale has clearly taken a big hit and there are too few games left to get it back. That means we need all of those around us not to win either…

Trying to be positive we only need a point on tuesday to get out of the relegation zone and still have the most favourable run in.
On the other hand our defence ball watching for the goal is the latest in a long line of mistakes which they have cost us this season. Also if we are playing 4 5 1 lets have two wingers on the pitch. What has hammill done wrong? We need more width not 4 centre midfielders!!!!!! I still believe we can do it, its unlikely that it will be over 41 points now for safety as i cant see wigan and blackpool winning 3 of their last 4 and west ham would have to win 4 to get to 42. I think 2 wins and a draw will be enough and we CAN do it. Lets just get behind the team for these last games and judge them and the manager at the end of it, starting with stoke tuesday! IF we do stop up we must strenghten the defence with a left back and maybe 2 centre halfs. Ward and berra both out. Up the wolves.

were you at the match – now i’m no fan of Ward but he played as well as anybody in defence yesterday and as for Henry – he was excellent (last ditch tackles plus fantastic cross for Fletcher’s goal)

As for the idiot in charge of the team – well that’s a different matter. Why is he the only one in the ground to see that the formation was not working?

Lost count of the times that O’Hara, Henry and Milijas got the ball and looked up to find and pass to the wings only to find that Gouediera was stood 3 yards away from them in the centre of the park – not Goudi’s fault he’s a central midfielder by nature!

Jarvo has gone back into his shell again – did he manage to beat a player yesterday – i don’t remember many occassions.

and what’s happened to the O’Hara that we saw against the Baggies / Blackpool?

I’ve no prob with a 5 man midfield but it’s got to be Hammill, Henry, Jarvis and any 2 from O’Hara or Gouediera and Milijas.

only one bigger fool in the ground than MacCarthy and that was the ref – absolutely shocking!

Disappointed that we did not win this game, which we badly needed to do. However, we have gained a point and moved off the bottom of the league with a game in hand on others above us.

The positives from this game was Fletchers performance as the lone striker. This is a role I doubted he could play as effectively as Doyle. Thought he was excellant.
Also, I thought Karl Henry produced a captains performance, which is not before time.

The negatives were all too obvious: Unconvincing defence, even with the recall of Jody Craddock, subdued contributions from both Jarvis and O’Hara.

We must start winning some of these “must win” games soon, and not simply talk about it. A few weeks ago we were looking at possibly up to ten or eleven teams that could be involved in a relagation battle. Now it is probably down to six.

But nobody in the first 27 has bothered to point out what a fantastic game Karl Henry had (why say something positive when you can slag off the same players 19?). For those resigned to relegation, can I point out that if we get a point at Stoke (our game in hand) we will be out of the bottom 3.

This was never a ‘must win’ game with points so close at the bottom and the teams fighting relegation rarely win too many, which is how it’s working out.
Nevertheless it was a disappointing performance from some of the players. What was wrong with O’Hara and Milijas ? Fulham dominated us in midfield and although he made one or two mistakes, Karl Henry had to work really hard in front of the defence because his midfield partners seemed to lack the stomach for a fight. Apart from his silly tackle Stearman did quite well at right back and he came more and more underpressure as Guediora faded and quite rightly got substituted.
Why did Mick bring on Kiteley, this isn’t the time to be trying to get a player who’s been out for two years match fit. ….and just what has Hammill done wrong ?
In the end a fair result, we just about deserved the point IMO.

When seen in relation to some of the other results yesterday (W Ham, Wigan, Blues), the draw against Fulham still renders it possible (though improbable, imv) to stay up. A lot of improvement to be desired: Hennesey starting to get shaky because of the pressure? The same to be said for the back four? Imbalance in midfield due to changes in line-up? To me, only one piece in the jigsaw is a certainty for the upcoming games: Fletcher to start up front, at least when Doyle is missing! We can still make it, but the team, the manager and everyone involved need to pull themselves together big time – UTW!

That said he should be dropped and replaced with people who want to play for us. or maybe we try and play football and keep possession by passing it instead of hoofing it. Saw albion at stoke a few weeks back and stoke couldn`t get the ball off albion 2nd half because they kept the ball on the floor and outpassed stoke (not difficult I know) and albion got the point and nearly got the 3 they deserved.

    THE WOLF MAN

My findings: O’Hara, seems to be a bit of a brat in the team. Watch him when wolves are awarded free kicks etc. the way he interacts with the other players seems like he seems he rules the roost; Stearman, I was impressed by his performance at right back, he seems to be thinking more and his decision making and timing is much improved; Milijas, lazy, didn’t put a shift in again, ok he has talent in spurts, but it seems to be at a cost. If you watch him in warm up, he spoons more than anyone. I’m not sure about him; Mcarthy, the team really lacked sharpe, Guardiora (realise my spelling is poor) was constantly being pulled in the middle, you could almost see him reminding himself to get out wide, put 2 minutes later would be back into the centre. Secondly as far as the manager is concerned, if you are only going to play one up front, then fine, but properly consult the midfielders, so when Flether picks the ball up towards the edge, the others are doing all they can to get in the box.

On the whole, I don’t think this was a premiership performance, and if we put a similar performance in against Stoke, it may be Preston et. al next season. (I hope the ticket prices will come down if this is the case)

    Regards.

Another day of hope and mild expectation with great weather to match. Couldn’t fault MM’s selection, even though I often do. Given injury and form he picked his first 11.
Looking at the Fulham 11 you could see they have more quality and class. This showed in the first few minutes and they could’ve easily gone ahead. As always WWFC played with grit and I felt a little more comfortable with old man Jody at the back. Still, we dropped too deep and did not press enough. We I never, first real break and one million pound per goal man gets a great header in. So far so good.

Started the second half and I could not help but look at their bench. When will Zamora and Johnson come on. Ours was didn’t quite have the quality. Then our first change. I know he was trying to shore up the defence but taking off the only player with a hope of keeping possession??? Mancienne has been out for quite a while and there was no way he was going to get back into it at this stage. O’Hara was playing the most forward of mid-fielders and AG isn’t a wide player. Either of those could have come off and Kightly on as wide right. Jarvis has his worst game by far (hasn’t been the same since England début.

Then it was route one. Why? please someone tell me, Hange….is about 6’10″ and we pumped the ball right up the middle and defended the inevitable. I hoped we would hold but realistically, I would have been gutted as a FFC fan (ecstatic as a WWFC) if they hadn’t have scored. No surprise, it was like watching Kevin Phillips all over again.

One point, MM put on a brave face for the media we will get relegated. Of that I’m sure. Tactical substitutions rubbish and we still need a LB, CH, CM and clearly another striker when Doyle goes.

I’m not being negative, just honest. Last year we were lucky because there were at least three teams worse than us. Are we better than Wigan, Blackpool, West Ham, Blackburn. They have all beaten us and the only reverse we’ve had was against 10 man Blackpool.

The ironic thing is, that when the Baggies sacked their manager, I was almost glad that MM was still in a job. Look at where they are. MM is an honest manager, who does get the team to put in effort (in fact his buzz words are effort and hard work). Without quality and at least some tactical knowledge you cannot stay in the PL.

Oh I dream of results against Stoke and B’Ham and then I’ll happily eat my words.

Was I watching the same match? Henry “excellent”?? Let’s try and forget the fact that he called for Guerdiola to play the ball back before the Algerian played it forward to allow Henry all the time and space in the World to put a cross in.
A hard earned point but we are still making woeful errors and not closing players down. It was reported that Andy Johnson had only been on the pitch 18 seconds before he scored – for 17 of those he was on the ball in front of our defence before he picked his spot.
I think we need two wins from our last five games – considering we’ve taken 8 from 16 away games and one of our home games is a banana skin against the Albion, where are the points coming from? I can see us needing to beat Blackburn on the last day and rely on other results as well, if we’re lucky.
It is Connor and McCarthy who have us in this position through poor coaching and technique and a clear lack of method on the pitch. Yes, we were better on Saturday but not good enough to beat a team with one of the poorest away records in this division.
I desperately want us to stay up, but where is there any future in the Premier League with Mick and Clipboard? If we do stay up we’ll be in the same position this time next season.

the positive and most important thing was that we got a point from a game we should have lost. Also a few results went in our favour.

As for the match We were outplayed in every department and only poor finishing from fulham kept us in the game.
It was good to see craddock back but the defence very shaky. hennessey handling was also poor.I thought Ward did pretty well.
Mick took a big risk again playing both o’hara and guedioura as neither had not played much football. Both looked behind the pace and struggled to make any impact. This put extra pressure on Henry and Miljas who tried hard but is not a defensive midfielder.

Fletcher likes the ball to feet and was fed on scraps throughout. He showed if a good ball was put in the box he could get his head on it, but we put very few crosses in.
Jarvis needs a rest and looked tired.

After the last three games I cant see where 3 wins will come from, but as I said last week,

Fulham played well because we allowed them to! When you are playing above your station and need to survive you need to play ugly i.e close the opposition down and make life as difficult for them as possible we did not. Guedora is not a right sided midfielder he should be in the centre closing down and surging forward once he has won the ball a la Everton away.

McCarthy and his tactics have made O’Hara peripheral to the play as he is constantly bypassed.

Why oh why do we continually pass the ball back to Hennessey for him to belt it upfiled to a loan striker? To be fair Flecher and latterly Syvain won more than their fair share of flick ons but they have no one to flick it on to which results in loss of pocession.

Fletcher our best player on Saturday was taken off why could we not go for another goal and killed the game off by keeping both strikers on?

I agree Hammill has been good since his arrival yet does not get a look in now. Fletcher plays well and is constantly substituted why? The manager needs to be less pig-headed and forget his favourites.

Jarvis since his England call-up has done less tracking back exposing our already weak area further drop him and give him time to self assess.

I sincerely hope we stay up but have grave doubts due to tactical ineptitude and favouritism.

Were you watching the same match ? Clearly not.
If Henry hadn’t battled as hard as he did in fron of our defence, whilst O’Hara and particularly Milijas stood and watched we might not have even got the point. Yes he made a couple of errors, one of which he redeemed himself, but which Wolves player didn’t ? Fulham midfield ran the show for most of the match.
Also if you think AJ was on the ball for 17 seconds before he scored you definately need to go to SpecSavers.
One of the few positives to come out of the game was Fletcher playing the lone role. Guediora needs a seat on the bench and MM needs to start Hammill. Save Kiteley for next season he’s not going to help us one iota in this crucial run in.

108 – We completely out played you at Villa Park and as a Villa fan you should know that extensive injuries take their toll. I’d be more concerned about your dip from 6th to relegation battle?

1 point from safety with a game in hand. I would love a point at Stoke and we need to attack Blues as they are all over the place but unfortunately won’t have 9 players out like they did against Albion!!!

Getting to 40 points in style!!!

No.9 You are either a throstle in a not very convincing disguise or have a mental age of 4, Bully was a legend as a player but not so great as manager (Stafford Rangers). Good point about catastrophe of hope from whoever that was; Tomwolf you really need to learn how to write. A point was a good return in reality as we were second best in all departments, Henry and Fletcher only credible performances. So many times this season I have thought that’s it we’re done for, yet we are still in with a chance, check out the betting (3 teams shorter odds, you never know….

Gutted we`re in this mess. In february after we beat man u and the albion were in free fall I envisaged us sending them down at the mol in may. Sadly now it looks like it`ll be the other way round.
Credit to the baggies, they have bought far superior players to us and now its showing. We needed to rebuild and strengthen over the last 2 years but instead we`re stuck with basically the same team that took us up. Can we loan odemwingie, olson, thomas, shorey, scharner and molumbu now that they are safe?
With our inferior GD We need 2 wins and 2 draws from our last 5 games. Come on me Babbies!

No 99 Sir Billy,’It is a good job the players don’t read theses comments’. What are they mice or men? On £20,000 a week you would think they might allow themselves a little peek. But you are right it is still all to play for.

106 I agree with you. Henry did have some good spells of good football, but, he also had some really bad spells, including his usual his pass backs to Ward , which were all too often, particularly in the 2nd half.

Henry will never ever be of sufficient quality to play in centre midfield in the premiership.

Getting tenser by the day, biggest derby in years tomorrow at Stoke.

mick will save us (I hope)

The only reason people were claiming that Fulham was a must win was because it was a home game, and our away form has been poor. We had 6 games left and needed a maximum of 3 wins, we had 3 home games so most people thought that those were the games that the wins were going to come from. Now we have 5 games left, and possibly need 3 wins still, maybe 2 wins and a draw. A draw against stoke would get us out the relegation zone, and put us on same games played as every one else, so even this next match isnt a must win. But i think the way we are curently playing, we will be lucky to get anything from the match. We have all seen this group of player play so much better than they have done in recent games, lets hope they get back to that form, then i have no doubt we will pick up the 3 wins that will almost certainly gaurentee our safety.

I think the players look terrified every time they take the park at the moment; McCarthy’s trying to appear bullish in the media, but something’s definitely being lost in translating that into performances.
We don’t have the greatest record under McCarthy of performing well in high-pressure games, which might be down to poor preparation, tactics, lack of mental strength and/or leadership on and off the field; or a combination of all of the above.
The frustrating thing is that the goal of survival still remains perfectly attainable, and we saw as recently as the Villa game that this group of players are capable of controlled, mature, Premiership-standard displays. As one of the contributors has noted, it needs a collective bucking up of ideas and a serious display of bottle to obtain the desired outcome.
Having said that, it would be grossly misjudged to try and play Stoke at their own game; Bolton tried it in the semi, and look what happened then. Get the ball down, keep it for as long as possible and try to kill the atmosphere. A draw wouldn’t be a bad result at all, so we needn’t go Hell for Leather about it.

113 – go on then – name the 9 blues players out when we beat them….. you can’t because there wernt that many.

In fact we made more changes for that game than they did, AND we played our previous game the day AFTER the cup final so we were more tired than they were !!

(good to see you getting the excuses in early again though)

Oh – and what “style” are you going to have in the next few games cos your manager is back to “putting a foot in” to quote your captain.

    We only need one half!

    74) and just why would a top class manager be attracted to a moribund team like Wolves? no structure, no scouting or youth team nous, and definatly not progressive, which is what you need to be to attract some one of Hodgson calibre! you need to learn throwing away (or wasting as its turned out) millions to buy “BIG” names does not work, and before any of you’s try to slate Hodgson, or attempt to make witty comments (because being bottom three for most of the season isn’t that funny, is it?), with hindsight (or progressiveness as we like to call it) knowing what we know now, and the way the season has panned out, how many of you would NOT have swapped Mick for Roy back in January? any takers? no? I thought not. Lets face it, RDM was having a better season than Mick, and look what happened to him, but that’s what happens when you have no ambition or class, only deluded sugar daddy’s to splash the cash, who think that is the be all and end all. As Sir Jack found to his cost (very costly has he found out) it does not work. You cant buy class!

Never thought I’d say this but I truly hope Wolves stay up…It’s been so long since the West Midlands Big 4 have been able to consolidate in the top league, that for any of us to go down is just more fuel for the London/Machester press brigade…although a baggies fan, I definately do NOT want to have anything to do with sending Wolves down…it’ll scar the Black Country..

Good Luck in your remaining fixtures, I honestly hope you don’t go down and look forward to the BCD on the 8th, Hopefully we will be 3 points better off against the Villa and won’t need the points. I’ve said it before that I want as many Midlands sides in the Prem as possible especially with the travelling costs to games going up and up all the time.

Fulham are an established side in the Premiership you didn’t lose against them so 1 point isn’t the end of the world.
    Keep the faith.
