Mick McCarthy is hoping for luck
Thursday 21st April 2011, 10:05AM BST.
Confident boss Mick McCarthy today insisted Wolves will get lucky in their final six games.
McCarthy is convinced teams have had more than their fair share of good fortune against Wolves this season.
The manager cites Everton’s final two goals in the 3-0 defeat last time out – both unstoppable strikes – as the latest proof.
Similarly, two of Tottenham’s goals were top drawer in the 3-3 draw last month, while unfortunate own goals contributed to defeats against Bolton at home and West Ham away.
McCarthy believes Wolves will be rewarded with some good luck just when they need it.
He said: “I think there is an element of luck, fortune or fate or whatever it might be. And we’ll get our bit of it in the next six games. I have faith in the players and I trust them.
“They will give everything they’ve got for the rest of the season, I don’t doubt that.
“But other people are always trying to force people into errors and you need that element of luck as well.”
McCarthy also expects nothing less than full backing from the fans for his team on Saturday.
He said: “Our fans have been fabulous – they have been top class.
“I don’t think they were anxious against Everton – I thought they were brilliant.
“They stayed with us and supported us. I really do think they’ve been great this season.”
