Wolves today put all contract talks on hold until their Premier League future is resolved.

Senior players Jody Craddock, Marcus Hahnemann and David Jones are all out of contract at the end of the season.

But manager Mick McCarthy revealed discussions had been shelved until Wolves know what division they are in next season.

He said: “We don’t know our own future so we don’t want to be talking about that yet, and we’re not going to.

“There are six games to go. Our focus – and everyone’s – should be on getting the points that keep us in this league, nothing else. That’s my focus and the players’ focus.

“And do you know what? When we stay in this league everyone will be in a better position and a better place to do better out of it.

“Let’s make sure that happens, then we can all crack on with it.”

Craddock, 35, the club’s longest-serving player, told the Express & Star on Saturday he will not ask about his future, for fear of being rejected over a new deal.

Goalkeeper Hahnemann, 38, revealed in a radio interview last week that he is still to learn whether Wolves will extend his stay.

And Jones has not publicly discussed his future since February 5 after talks broke down on a contract extension.

The 26-year-old joined for £1.2million from Derby County three years ago but can walk away from Molineux for nothing under the Bosman ruling.

Hahnemann will be 39 and Craddock 36 by early July, but both are keen to carry on playing.

Craddock would presumably appear to have less chance of staying if Wolves win their survival battle.

Hahnemann’s position is less clear with Wayne Hennessey likely to be the subject of interest if Wolves go down.

However, Jones is expected to take up a rival Premier League offer.

Apart from loans, Wolves’ only other senior player out of contract is Adriano Basso.

McCarthy has admitted £2million Greg Halford, who is at Portsmouth on loan, is likely to make his move permanent, while a deal is in place for Andy Keogh to do the same at Bristol City.

But reserve left-backs Scott Malone and Jamie Reckord – currently on loan at Burton and Northampton respectively – have agreed 12-month contract extensions to keep them at the club until 2012.
