Wayne Hennessey’s England warning
Friday 25th March 2011, 11:30AM GMT.
Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey – the man charged with stopping England – has insisted Wales are ready to gun down the Three Lions in their Euro 2012 qualifier.
Proud Welshman Hennessey believes the passion of the 75,000 sell-out Millennium Stadium crowd can inspire a Wales side minus Gareth Bale to a famous victory over Wayne Rooney, Andy Carroll and Co tomorrow.
The Wolves No 1 said: “A lot of us are playing regularly in the Premier League and we’ve come up against the England players on several occasions before.
“We know it’s a tough game but we believe we can cause England problems if we play to our potential, particularly with so many Welsh fans behind us.”
Hennessey, who has won 30 caps, predicts tensions will be high and compared the Battle of Britain showdown to a Black Country derby.
He said: “We’ll have the national anthem but after that I’ll treat it like any other game. I know it’s not any other game, it’s Wales against England – like Wolves against Albion!
“The atmosphere does promise to be really exciting and a match anyone would want to play in.
“But once we kick off, we have to concentrate on the football and doing whatever we can to get a positive result.
“We’ve got some good young players now as well as a new manager and the future is bright.
“I’m always very proud to win any international cap – but to get one against England would be extra special.”
England have also been warned they face a Hennessey in the form of his life.
Fellow Welshman and Wolves goalkeeping coach Pat Mountain said: “Wayne goes into tomorrow’s game full of confidence both from his own individual displays as well as those of Wolves.
“A clean sheet and victory at Villa was great and, as a goalkeeper, you always love a clean sheet.
“If he gets another one tomorrow then there are a lot of Welsh people who will be equally delighted.
“I don’t think it’s any different for Wayne playing in front of 50 people than 75,000.
“I don’t think there’s anything that fazes him.”

Button it, Hennessey! You can’t even pilot a plane! The denizens of the Newhampton will not accept your Valleys effrontery!

“Be quiet Hennessey. You can’t pilot a plane like that Hahnemann fellow. The people who drink in the Newhampton and who represent a cross-section of Wolverhampton Wanderers fans will not tolerate your pro-Welsh comments.”
How’s that?

Albrightondek – agreed. As Wolves’ fans we don’t want his confidence affected. A superb display from Hennessy and a narrow win for England will do for me on this occasion – with Jarvis getting the deciding goal.

Wayne, a lot will depend on whether your ‘back four’ for Wales are as ‘GOOD’ as your ‘back four’ at Wolves lol? But its great seeing all our players, playing International Football. I hope you and any other Wolves players have a good game, but more importanly ”dont get injured” has we still have ’8 massive cup finals left to play’, and we will need ALL our players fully fit,to play in them,to remain in the BPL. Nah mate. Too fancy with their food and you can’t get close to the screen on matchday. Mind you, the good thing is, if you’ve got functioning legs you don’t have to make the choice.

Sorry, I don’t know Monk Man. And why should I listen to his opinion on pub quality anyway?! That’s like me saying, “You’re wrong, I’ve been drinking in the Newhampton for years, it’s great, you ask my mates Braden and Duster.” They don’t mean anything to you!

Big (literally) Neville Southall currently on Premier League News talking about Hennessey, reckons he should stay at Wolves for a couple more seasons, has all the attributes to be a top keeper but looks short of good coaching..Hmmmm..

Hello there nuts!!!
I’m starting to think you have issues with any OPINION that’s not your own…

Jarvo pats Wayne on the back, after spinning around from goal where he has just deposited the English winner. Every football photographer would covet that shot, if a one in a zillion chance of ever happening!

I think Hennessey will struggle tomorrow. The guy fails to command his area and I think he’ll get bullied by Andy Carroll. All the same it’s a good test for Wayne. Lets see how he copes.
