Rise in Wolves’ Early Bird renewals

Wolves today revealed a three per cent increase on Early Bird renewals on this time last year – despite some fans not knowing where they will sit.

Projected sales for the cut-price season tickets are expected to hit 14,780 – an increase of 471 on last year’s figure at the same time, 14,309.

A price freeze for renewing online was taken up by 90 per cent of season ticket holders.

The projected sales figure includes expected renewals from disabled supporters, who have an extended time to renew.

Based on club estimates, the Express & Star reported on Saturday that Early Bird sales would be around the 15,000 mark.

Supporters in the Stan Cullis Stand, which will be knocked down at the end of the season, don’t yet know where they will be relocated to.

Some seats in the bottom tier of the new 8,800-capacity North Stand will be available from September, but it’s not yet known how many.

And chief executive Jez Moxey thanked fans for their loyalty as well as patience during what will be a disruptive time.

He said: “We are heading into a time of upheaval for season ticket holders in the Stan Cullis Stand given the impending stadium redevelopment, as well as those occupying the flank of the Jack Harris Stand.

“It is to those supporters’ immense credit that so many have renewed without knowing the location of their seat for the 2011-12 campaign and, again, we’re extremely grateful.

“We strongly believe that, when opened, the new facility will more than compensate for the inconvenience.”

Moxey also expressed his gratitude to the fans who have renewed.

He said: “We’re once again delighted so many supporters have renewed their season tickets via the Early Bird scheme.

“The level of the numbers renewed signifies an impressive show of strength from our supporters and the sort of loyalty which has proved so inspiring to the team.

“Manager Mick McCarthy often talks about the unity and spirit inside the club, but the unswerving loyalty and passion from our supporters also shows that same sense of togetherness and spirit between the players and the fans.

“That level of backing which was once again evident at Villa Park on Saturday has been there all season, and will be even more vital over the remaining eight games in which we’re confident we will retain Premier League status.”

As long as this doesn’t lead to overcrowding in the Newhampton on match day, then I applaud all of the above with all of my hands.

No, no, no….. wait, I just don’t believe this for a second. Up until the Villa game, when a few posters seem to have gone a bit quite, all I read about on here was how deluded the club was & that we didn’t need the new stadium & how Moxey didn’t know what he was doing because the early birds were down….. could it be that actually, RichWolf, Wolfhound etc don’t actually have much of an idea of what they’re talking about ?…….. I would have never guessed !

Keep up the good work Wolves

Well done Wolves fans and well done the club. There are some who have a go at Moxey, but, ensuring Wolves FC sell tickets IS HIS JOB and he seems to be doing it quite well. Helped, of course by a positive run of form and results.
I got mine, by the way, in my opinion it’s good value, despite what a few say about comparative prices elsewhere in the Premiership.
As for us fans, it ain’t easy, we all know that and I suppose you can’t blame a few for having a grumble, but, hopefully Mick and the boys will keep the likes of RichWolf64 as quiet for the next couple of months as they’ve been for the last couple of weeks.
Let’s hope all out internationals come back unscathed.

Wolfhound – I would dearly love to be a season ticket holder at the Molineux but unfortunately for me, financial & geographical reasons make it not possible.

I don’t believe that makes my support any less valid than yours or anybody else to be honest & I don’t believe I need to justify my support, it’s clear for all who know me or read what I type to see. But I am delighted you’ll be back cheering the team on next season and hopefully, with everything good that’s happening around the club, regardless of what division we’re in next year, you can have a more positive outlook on the club !

I’m sure you’re proud to support & be a season ticket holder of this fine club, but it don’t half seem to make you miserable !!

Let us face it Moxey could sell fridges to the Eskimos. He excels at that part of his responibilities.Signing quality footballers,he is very hit and miss.Strategic vision to take Wolves to the next level and at the same time paying off the debts for phases 2 and 3 of the ground redevelopment, will be a big challenge. Time will only tell.I have rolled the dice for another year, but unlike Bertie at £496,I do not think it is cheap.Mind it was worth a few hundred quid alone to witness that victory against Man Utd.

If and when we stay up the club will need to have a look at the squad again in the Summer and strengthen in areas and obviously clear out a few fringe players:

    Out:
    Keogh
    Halford
    Jones
    Ikeme
    Vokes

    In:
    O’Hara
    Shane Long
    Richard Dunne
    Mancienne
    Shay Given

I think that Richard Dunne may be about to enter into his George Best period, and not the one that he had while he was playing.

If I had not found myself with eyesight problems threatening my ability to drive, we would be renewing our season tickets {held for 16 years) but sadly that cannot be. We live 150 miles from W-ton and we are having to be realistic. Hopefully we will get to some games, but I have to say I feel gutted about the situation. But like others, it will not stop my devotion to the team I have followed for 60 years.
