Wolves’ Ronald Zubar out for season
Monday 21st March 2011, 2:01PM GMT.
Ronald Zubar today dealt Wolves a blow when he was ruled out for the rest of the season.
The 25-year-old defender has undergone surgery in France after his back failed to respond to a course of treatment.
Zubar aggravated the problem in the 4-0 win over Blackpool on February 26 and has failed to train fully since.
Manager Mick McCarthy said: “Zubar has had his operation on his back and he’s out for the season.”
McCarthy feels he has the ideal replacement in Kevin Foley, who has impressed since he returned to his natural position.
He said: “Ronald’s been an important player for us and it’s a blow, but we can’t do anything about it.
“But what about Kevin Foley? His performances have been fantastic.”
McCarthy also had an encouraging bulletin on Stephen Hunt and Adlene Guedioura.
The Wolves boss said: “Hunt and Adlene are back in training, but David Edwards is still struggling with his back.
“We’ll maybe get a training game into Adlene at the end of the week before he plays in the reserves a week on Wednesday.”
