Kevin Doyle issues Wolves warning

Kevin Doyle today warned Wolves of Blackpool’s danger after declaring the Premier League newcomers “a breath of fresh air”.
Tomorrow’s Molineux visitors have been involved in a staggering 93 goals this season and the positive approach of Ian Holloway’s all-out action men have seen them win at Liverpool, Newcastle, Sunderland, Wigan and Stoke in their first top-flight season, while their risky strategy sees them five points above the drop zone.
Doyle played in a Reading team that finished eighth in 2006-07 before they were relegated the following season. And the £6.5m striker likened the Tangerines to the Royals, although he admitted Blackpool have done it more against the odds.
“Blackpool have surprised a lot of people,” said the 27-year-old.
“In a way it’s similar to Reading when we got up there but probably even more of an achievement. At Reading we had a 25,000-seater stadium with top class facilities and ran away with the Championship.
“It wasn’t like coming through the play-offs like Blackpool did. So Blackpool are a breath of fresh air because they’re doing it all so positively.
“They play attacking football and are good to watch. They do seem relaxed and really enjoying it and that can make them dangerous opposition.
“We’re probably a bit more scarred over the years — I am certainly — since playing for Reading in that first year when everything was fresh. It’s only when you get a few thumpings and you start to change a bit.
“But I hope Blackpool don’t because they’ve been very refreshing to watch.”
Doyle scored his first Premier League goal of the season in Wolves’ 2-1 defeat at Bloomfield Road in November and he’s hoping for a better outcome tomorrow.
“We had a decent game at their place and an open one which it may well be again,” he said. “Hopefully this time we’ll come out on top.
“It’s in our hands. We’ve got to play teams around us and if we all do our jobs we won’t need to rely on anyone else.”
