Survival priority for Mick McCarthy

Mick McCarthy would be prepared to lose both derbies with Albion if Wolves avoid the Premier League drop.

“If we stayed up and they went down, would any of our fans be bothered where we got the points from?” he said.

“I know some might say they would and their might be some saying they’d rather win both games against Albion and go down, but that’s beyond me.”

But the boss admits Wolves need points from both matches to avoid the drop, with Albion at Molineux on May 8.

The two derbies are part of eight games Wolves have left against teams in the bottom half of the table.

“We’ve only got 12 games left so we need points from most of them,” said McCarthy. “So yes, we do need something from both Albion games.

“And it’s a pivotal week with West Brom and Blackpool the next two coming up.”

McCarthy has also questioned whether new Albion boss Roy Hodgson has enough time to rescue the Baggies.

“It can be difficult coming in at this stage,” said the Molineux boss. “Having had one week to work with the players, I’m not so sure he could stamp his style on them.

“Would it be too much to ask him to do something completely different when players are ingrained in what they do?”

To win points, we need to play our best team, strikers and score goals when is McCarthy going to do it?

This has been the same all season.

let’s hope he starts tomorrow and we come away with the points.

This is better MM… Better than trying to wind them up with “lose and you could go down”
im sure 99% of wolves fans would lose these two games if we were to stop up. there’s been to much talk of were good enough to stop up, now get the players doing to talking on the pitch instead of in the papers. you and the players are only here for a short time were here for life, give us something to smile about its well over due….. love wolves….

Mick will save us (i hope)

Oh no. No doubt there will be idiots claiming that Mick now wants us to lose our derby matches. If we lose both matches and still stay up, i dont think i will be too upset, but i think that these matches will be integral to us staying up, so i dont think we will have that luxery. That being said, we could win both these matches and still go down, with the baggies staying up, then i would be gutted.

Your manager needs to keep quiet as he’s turning it into a media circus for himself.

Im with Mick, Id rather stay up than beat the Albion.

If we beat them and went down I wouldnt mind as long as they went down. If they stayed up it would be pointless

Mick, just stop the inane comments and just concentrate of beating Albion and Blackpool !
Remember the team you have managed all season are currently bottom of the league.
Our record against the so callled weaker teams is shocking.

What’s the matter with the Wolves fans today. Perhaps everyone has gone into hibernation till 12.00 tomorrow. Firstly Mad Mick builds up WBA by saying that if they lose tomorrow they could go down and here he says that he would be quite happy for Wolves too lose the 2 matches against WBA as long as we stay up. What right has Mad Mick to dictate what matches we should win or lose, I can’t imagine Ferguson or Wenger saying the same. Surely a managers job is to win every match or claim every point that he can. Get rid of the Muppet before he makes Wolves the laughing stock of the Premier League, or has he already done that.

my biggest worry is if we do go down which at
best is 50/50 and less if we do not win the next 2 games is that the muppet will still be
    there,which would be totally unbelievable,and
    a insult to us fans.
