Friendship aside for Wolves No 1

Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey will put his friendship with Albion counterpart Boaz Myhill to one side in Sunday’s Black Country derby.
The Wales internationals are close friends but they will be on opposite sides for the first time at the Hawthorns this weekend and Hennessey admits they will be enemies for 90 minutes.
Hennessey said: “They’ve got Boaz in goal who I know well – he’s a mate. He’s been playing well too.
“We have a good laugh and a joke together, but once it gets underway we’ll both be serious and wanting to win – and hopefully it’s us that will.
“It will be interesting, both teams really need points so I’m sure it will be a good game. If we could get a win it would be fantastic and that’s what we’ll be going for. It’s a massive game, always will be.
“They’re a very good team but so are we.”
Returning to the Hawthorns brings back memories of Hennessey’s arrival in the Wolves team back in May 1997.
Manager Mick McCarthy threw him in for a shock debut in the play-off semi-final after goalkeeper Matt Murray cracked a shoulder in training.
Hennessey revealed Albion’s ground is his favourite away venue after he excelled and saved a late penalty in the play-off and kept a clean sheet the following season.
The Wales international had to put personal concerns to one side about his fellow homegrown goalkeeper, but relishes his big chance.
He said: “Matt was training the day before and cracked a bone on his shoulder and I went out and played in the two games.
“It was sad for me to see Matt injured, but I had to get on with it and it was a chance for me to go on in such an important couple of games.”
