Wolves will hand new-boy Adam Hammill a debut against his former club Liverpool - but stressed his arrival will not mean the departure of Matt Jarvis.

Concerns have arisen that yesterday's £500,000 arrival means the club might be tempted to cash in on Jarvis, while fans are worried what it spells for Michael Kightly's future.

But boss Mick McCarthy, after confirming "there's every chance" Hammill will figure at Molineux tomorrow, has insisted that is not the case.

The manager said: "When I spoke to Adam and his agent, I said to him 'I hope he realises we've got two terrific wingers and neither of them are going anywhere.'

"Adam's opinion was he was coming to take one of their places and he wants to demote one of them to the bench."

"He's confident in his ability because he's got loads of it."

Chief executive Jez Moxey also moved to calm fans' fears over Jarvis today and stressed Kightly will be fit soon.

He said: "We're all trying our utmost to secure our Premier League future so we will need Matt and Stephen Hunt to play a huge part in helping us secure our objective, but Adam's arrival gives Mick more options for the remainder of the season.

"One thing is for certain, we have no plans to sell any of our star players – nothing is more important than staying in the Premier League and we remain very optimistic that if the current team stays fit and healthy, then we have every chance of achieving that objective come May.

"As for Michael, he is continuing to progress well in his rehabilitation and we're all hopeful of him pulling on a Wolves shirt again in the not-too-distant future."

Midfielder David Edwards has been ruled out of tomorrow's game, after falling ill during his recovery from a hamstring injury.
