Wolves’ club-record signing Steven Fletcher believes he is getting better with every game – and is ready to cause a family feud by beating boyhood heroes Liverpool.

The 23-year-old grew up in Warrington as a Reds fan but is ready to show just how potent a strikeforce he and Kevin Doyle can be tomorrow, after top scoring with six goals from just 10 starts.

Fletcher said: “I was brought up as a Liverpool fan and a lot of my family are coming down for the game.

“It’s taken a while for me to get going with the injury and the illness but hopefully now I’m in the team I can keep my place and keep scoring goals.

“To have six already isn’t too bad, particularly as I haven’t played all that many games, but hopefully there are more to come.

“Game by game I think I’m getting sharper and fitter and building up a better understanding with Kevin Doyle.

“We’ve both scored goals as well, which is good for the team.”

Fletcher also believes Wolves are flourishing playing 4-4-2 again.

He said: “The boys are enjoying playing with two up-front and, as a striker, it’s a good formation for me.

“It gives us a chance to score some goals which we’ve been doing and we’ve just got to keep that going.

“We’ve created a lot of chances and, with the wingers we’ve got and the quality delivery that comes in, we have to put them away.”

Fletcher believes the return of Kenny Dalglish as Liverpool manager will prove right in the long term for the struggling Merseysiders, but is ready to prolong his wait for a first win.

The Wolves striker said “They have made the change and I think it will come good for them, so we know we’re in for a tough game.

“At the same time we’ve produced good performances recently and are going in high on confidence and with a real buzz around the place.”

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is nearing full fitness and Fletcher believes all the strikers can adapt to each other.

He said: “Sylvan has looked good this season – whoever’s playing, we can all pick up each other’s games pretty quickly.

“It’s just unfortunate that every time one gets fit, someone else gets injured.

“Hopefully we’ll all be fit soon and pushing each other on.”
