Time to map out a plan for Villa's future
- Says blogger Matthew Turvey
West Ham 2 Wolves 0
Saturday 1st January 2011, 5:10PM GMT.
Wolves went back to the bottom of the Premier League after a damaging defeat at relegation rivals West Ham.
An own goal by Ronald Zubar in the 51st minute was followed by a strike from Freddie Sears on 79 minutes, as Wolves’ survival hopes suffered a major blow.
They had their chances and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake headed against the bar, while goalkeeper Robert Green superbly saved from Christophe Berra and Stephen Ward.
But West Ham were decent value for their victory after Carlton Cole failed in a one-on-one and Richard Stearman cleared Sears’ shot off the line in the first-half.
Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey also had to push Matthew Upson’s header onto the bar, while Frederic Piquionne curled inches wide after the break.
And there was a lack of quality about Wolves as they failed to build on their superb win at Liverpool.
Not surprisingly, manager Mick McCarthy named an unchanged side from the team that won 1-0 at Anfield on Wednesday night.
In fact, the entire 18 was the same as on Merseyside three days ago.
Wolves almost presented West Ham with a golden chance after just four minutes.
George Elokobi under-hit a backpass to Hennessey and the goalkeeper was forced to sprint off his line to boot the ball clear as Cole closed in.
But Cole then saved the Hammers by blocking Ebanks-Blake’s shot on the turn after the home side failed to clear the second of three early Wolves corners, with the former Molineux loanee also stopping Berra as he tried to turn in the rebound in the seventh minute.
Ebanks-Blake then headed straight at Green, after Nenad Milijas flicked Stephen Hunt’s corner back into the danger area.
However, Wolves had a let-off when Sears fired straight at Hennessey, after cutting inside from the edge of the box.
But the visitors were defending solidly, emphasised when the impressive Stearman made a perfectly-timed tackle to deny Junior Stanislas deep inside the penalty area.
McCarthy’s side had plenty of defending to do as well, as the Hammers dominated before the break.
Wolves had a major let-off in the 29th minute when Cole fired wide with only Hennessey to beat, after George Elokobi failed to cut out a through pass from Scott Parker.
Then, in a similar incident to Anfield, Wolves had Stearman to thank for a goalline clearance when he brilliantly blocked Sears’ first-time, angled effort after he had latched onto a loose ball following an aerial clash four minutes before the break.
Thankful to go in goalless at the break, Wolves set about making the most of their fortune and peppered the Hammers goal at the start of the second-half.
First Upson got across to block Ebanks-Blake’s shot after a superb pass from Hunt, before Green had to dive to his right to spare the blushes of one of his own players.
Berra had a header palmed away by Green, who then flung himself to his right to keep out a curling effort from Ward.
Green was then relieved to see Milijas glancing header sail over the bar from Zubar’s cross.
But Zubar found himself an unlikely Hammers hero in the 51st minute, when Piquionne’s cross hit him and flew past the helpless Hennessey after being missed by Cole.
The Hammers got lucky too, with Piquionne appearing to be offside as he burst down the right.
Wolves were suddenly hanging on and there was a real flashpoint five minutes after the goal, when Stearman won a tackle but sent Parker flying in front of the dugouts.
West Ham fans screamed for blood but referee Lee Probert made the right decision and booked the defender, rather than send him off.
The visitors had another scare in the 61st minute when Hennessey pushed Upson’s towering header onto the bar from Parker’s corner.
Milijas provided some respite with a first-time curling effort that flew inches over, as Wolves worked themselves back into the game.
Then Ebanks-Blake went even closer, heading against the bar from Kevin Foley’s cross in the 77th minute.
But West Ham hit back to score a second goal on 79 minutes to effectively crush any hopes of a comeback.
Sears arrived unmarked to slide home Tal Ben Haim’s low centre from 10 yards after Parker lobbed forward to sentence Wolves to defeat.

Disappointing. We can beat Man City and Liverpool, yet we cant beat Wigan or West Ham this season. Very poor.
Lets get something straight, we beat liverpool because they were SO POOR and hadn’t played for 18 days, west ham beat us because they deserved to and wanted it more! The way stears just stands there for there 2nd goal is a JOKE!! We Are Going Down

same old story great win followed by poor result i tonight i do feel we are going down fizzy pop leagre here we come

Stears as in stearman not sears as in west ham scorer, stears is a championship player!! and we wanna buy curtis davies to solve our problems?! are you joking!! he is crap, we need to buy an experienced prem defender i.e someone like richard dunne yes he’s 31 but he has what it takes at this level

Well the blind squirrel is still searching for the nut!!!!!!!!!Proves flukes never happen twice.

Yet another defeat against a bottom side which could end up costing us.We’ve only beaten Blues of the lower sides with costly defeats against West Ham,Fulham,Wigan(twice)and Blackburn.
We need some of our injured players back plus some reinforcements at Centre-Half and Left-Back quickly. Can’t see any points from our next few games!

30th defeat in only 57 premiership games as Wolves manager.13th time 2 or more goals conceded this season,Bottom again after another dire performance.Manager is Shocking, team selections second rate tactical use of subs 0/10.Ward back at left back less than 2 minutes he is exposed yet again.Fletcher i would not blame you for asking for a transfer if you cant get a game in front of a 1 goal in 131 matches striker.Morgan you obviously have no intention of taking OUR great club forward so please let us know your real intentions.

Lone Wolf.
When all’s said and done, a fair result.

The WWFC roller coaster continues.
We needed a point from this game.
Plenty of chances all missed, great saves by the opposition, an own goal, a booking that shouldn’t have been, late Subs, 7M player on the bench, Edwards wrong Sub.
Credit to Stearman superb display, and many of the other players, but the result is all too familiar.
Read McCarthy’s comments about bringing players in and the negativity is resounding, he says he dosen’t think it will change anything, Why does he have to say these things?
We are back at the bottom of the League and it looks that’s where we are going to stay I am afraid.
Still beleive with a more positive manager we can stay up.Mick does not have the b—-!
Yes we beat liverpool just like we beat man city, the reasons are obvious both opponents thought they had to just turn up and we were guaranteed defeats, meaning nothing to lose with nothing expected we won!!Wigan and West Ham we were expecting something and got nothing as the pressure in these games is just to much for wolves. We have underperformed against all the so called easier teams, are best performances have been against the top10 teams!Simply because we have no expectations and the pressure is not on.Losing to wigan(twice),Fulham,West Ham,blackburn, bolton etc is only going to mean one thing relegation,as the manager is not able to produce the goods when on paper it says we can!!Wigan had not won away for many games yet we got beat easily!!
We can still stay up but as I have said since last season MICK as to go.He also knows his premeirship record is the worst by any prem manager. How come I can see but it seems the people that matter somehow think MICK can win 47% of the remaining games!!When his current percentage is 22%!!!

Today was a very unlucky Day, just look at West Hams first goal! but give West Ham credit MM didn’t make changes till 10 mins to go, i think we shouldnt sack him but we need to spend some money maybe on Tarrat from Qpr and maybe loan some quality and we need to sell a few to put some money in the Bank.

So where do the points come from, Mick?
I’m sure you’ll appreciate that when I spend more than a thousand quid on two season tickets, and as much again driving 4200 miles a year to see the matches, that I deserve more than some blunt, witless Yorkshire solecisms and “made for Sky” soundbites. If I want to hear that kind of rubbish, I’ll buy a Geoff Boycott DVD, thank you.
Yes, you got three points against probably the worst Liverpool performance in over a century (and we await the Commercial Department’s commemorative DVD) but this followed ineptitude at a grand scale against most other teams in the division.
You see, Mick, one day you will pack up your bags and leave, off to manage a League Two side or perhaps a Conference high-flier team closer to Bromley, while we will still be spending the money and driving the miles.
Please can that day be sooner rather than later?
Simple enough. Mick McCarthy has run his course.
The team seem incapable of any form of consistency.
Their tactics at times seem naive and his rants and rhetoric have become somewhat tiresome.
Mr Morgan needs to make the right move for the good of the club.
A lot of managers who were doing a superior job have been relieved of their positions, but Wolves fans are having to put up with second-rate results.
Why?
Time is running out, so let’s have the right decision and justify the loyalty that the club receives from it’s supporters!

SM and JM won’t act to sack Mick because we are building at the club-JM said as much a couple of week’s back. But what are we building? Not the squad from what I can tell. We don’t have any decent full backs at the club (well, we have one, but he plays in midfield). We sign a striker for £7 and he only plays on the bench, even though he’s our top scorer. He does sometimes get a 15 run out, but usually on the right wing. Stephen Ward up front has apparently been our best player for the last three games (I don’t agree personally), so of course he gets moved from striker where he’s been the best player, to left back during the game (can you imagine Sir Alex doing that with Berbatov?). We’ve got a squad of fantastic players, but the boss seems clueless. I fear that the club wont’ act, we’ll go down and our ‘Crown Jewels’, Doyler, Jarvo and Fletcher will all be off in the close season. Putting someone like Martin O’Neil in charge of this squad of players could keep us up. I don’t think it will happen though, Mick will spend any available money in January on more players to either sit on the bench or play out of position. I guess holding these views makes me a muppet, but this is the first time I have ever posted questioning MM.

Bad result. What has Fletcher done wrong? We’d be deluded if we think Craddock and Henry can make a difference now as it will take them time to get up to speed.I see from the clubs website you can buy a Wolves player for £17.99…….which one ? All is still not lost….I hope .
Stay ) Up the Wolves !

What a terrible result, this Wolves team do my head in as does Mcarthy. Still insists on bringing on subs when the game has already been lost, why was Fletcher on the bench again, he cost £7m has already scored 5 goals, and yet he never starts, no wonder the rumours are he wants out, who can blame him. Two must win games against our relegation rivals, and we lose both matches, it aint good enough. There seems to be a nice cosy relationship with the 3 M’s, thats why Mcarthy aint worried about his job. Morgan never says anything, which is really starting to annoy me, the Liverpool result means nothing now. Psychologically West Ham and Wigan now have the edge, and I can’t see us getting anything from and our next 6 fixtures against Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, Bolton, Man Utd, and Arsenal. By the time these games have been played we will be miles behind in the league table. I fear its too late now to get out of this mess. You watch this space, we won’t sign any top quality Prem players because a) we don’t pay the going rate b) they won’t want to come to team thats looks certain for relegation, and c) if I was a Prem player i certainly wound not want to sign for the stubborn Mcarthy.
We need to change our manager and all his backroom staff now, enough is enough.
I’m so sickened about losing this game. The Wolves fans go from being really low after the Wigan game to an high after Liverpool, and then back down to earth after West Ham.
Wolves fans deserve more than this rubbish. I don’t care what the happy clappers say. Mcarthy must go this Monday morning. This result has killed us mentally.
GOD HELP US, BECAUSE MORGAN CAN’T OR WON’T DO THE RIGHT THING.

In a premier league game, in the best league in the world would you think I was joking if I told you a manager starts a player as a striker and then instead of takin him off makes him go to left back!
Foley – useless and will never be a midfielder !
Fletcher – again good when he came on, our best striker and STILL doesn’t on till 15 mins to go…
McCarthy – shocking,absolutely clueless
Report abuse
Got to face facts, under this ownership and management we are a championship club. I just cant beleive that McCarthy is still in charge after all the money he has spent over two years. I cant be bothered to watch any more games while Morgan is taking us all for a ride. Would Morgan have let his building business be run as bad!!!

Disappointing result. The great win at Anfield is sandwiched between the loss of two ‘six-pointers’.If we are to survive we need to get something out of these matches.I think they should stop talking up before the game and do it on the field.

Not going to get involved with the blame game – but it is obvious that we have to take points off our rivals for the drop, or we’ll go and they won’t.

Got to get some momentum going big time if we’re gonna have any chance of getting rid of this manager in time to save our season. Lots of noise please and banners outside the Mol for the next game. No to new season tickets. This manager is killing us slowly. We have to act.

After that superb display at Anfield the other night, we go to West Ham and get beat!! WHAT!!!!!!
Just not enough quality. Yes, I know Ward scored against Liverpool, but Steven Fletcher should be starting as he is a much better striker than him!
We need to get buying in the transfer window, need a CB, LB, Midfielder who can break up the play, and a striker.
I think it will be out these players:
David Wheater
Curtis Davies
Richard Dunne
Adam Hammill
Michael Brown
Mamadou Bagayoko
David Nugent
Heard rumours today that Wolves are linked with Pascal Chimbonda from Blackburn!!
Lets get behind the lads and Mick.

TONY (18) Your mistake is you have not posted before. As you make valid points just like some of the other posts.
I am not sure the likes of Fletcher and Doyle will leave as they will be only bought buy another struggling club like,Blackburn, wigan or Fulham so that is a positive as this team with any manager worth his salt will come straight back up.
I am not being biased but WOLVES are more than capable of staying up with a more POSITIVE approach, they have shown this in certain games, the truth is that at this level Mick is a LOSER.
As PAUL said on the sports channel”WOLVES lost as they were just not POSITIVE in there play!!Being positive needs a positive mentallity and Mick is a defensive manager who as some very strange ideas to say the least. We have lost two very vital games either side of the liverpool game.Games that were labelled as PIVITOAL by Manager and his players.
West ham was a wound inflicting result for the whole team and fans alike, everything was in our favour and we BLEW it.Just like last saturday!!!We have struggled all season yet if we had got 4points from wigan, west ham games we would have been virtually safe!!!!
The league is so close that even know two-three wins in the next 5-6 games can be a massive step in our survival,WE NEED A MANAGER,O NEIL IS THE MAN EVEN IF IT IS TILL THE END OF THE SEASON.DONT BUY ANY PLAYERS PAY HIM 2 MILLION AND TWO MILLION IF WE STAY UP!!So the 4million invested on the manager as more chance of us staying up then spending 4-6million in the transfer window, and putting them on the bench!!!!!!Fletcher situation is a disgrace!
Has I am convinced O NEIL can get the 7-8 wins required out of the remaining 18 games.
Mick’s record is obvious we will win 4 games that will take us down.If we had sacked him earlier we would not have lost to wigan or west ham!!!
The management is taking the club down!!
Well the moaners are happy again. Great stat Eire – 47% of 18 games is 8.5 wins which definitely would be tricky. We probably need 20 points to stay up, lets say 6 wins and 2 draws so 33% should do it. I didn’t go today but from the radio it sounded like Stears was excellent and kept us in the game, but he’s the new boo boy, so let’s all have a go at him.
BTW all those of you who say we are ‘certain for relegation’, what odds are you offering exactly?
well normality resumes with wolves & mccarthy. we played so well against liverpool and rightly deserved to win. then bang the bubble bursts again and its back to what were used to. why oh why will mccarthy not play fletcher what does it take ? if i was steven fletcher i,d say enough is enough and tell mccarthy where to shove it. he,s a top top player and yet all he gets is 15-20 minutes a game. sorry not acceptable. when it comes down to it were not good enough for the premier leauge well not with this squad. what rubbish is mccarthy gonna tell us this time ? its always the same old bla bla bla. he,s liked a cracked record and its becoming boring. i cant wait to see who he tries to sign this month well lets face it there,s one thing who ever he signs there gaurenteed a place on the bench like most of his other signings. total joke.
Back to the land of reality. Forget the Liverpool game it proves nothing. Look at the season overall and it is obvous to everybody except Mr Anonymous Morgan that MM and his team are not good enough. If Mick thinks Ward is a hero, well say no more. Accept tha fact that nothing will change, no worthwhile transfers or loans because who will come to us to sit on the bench. More likely that Jarvis, Doyle and Fletcher will be on their way. We are a total laughing stock. Well done McCarthy, Morgan and Moxey.
I don’t think a single Wolves fan will be surprised at this result. We seem to think that sides at the bottom of the league do not need closing down and we do not have to apply the same effort as we do against the top sides.
Poor tactics again? or lazy play?
What I am sure of is that MM is incapable of learning anything. Just because we have a good win doesn’t mean everything is fixed. I’ve come to the point where part of me wants us to lose. This goes against everything I believe in but if we do not change something (the manager) we will be relegated for sure.
He continues to stick to the same players. Yes Ward can be congratulated on his goal and his effort but does anyone really think he is better than Fletcher. If so we have wasted £6.5 million. Elokobi, Stearman, Berra are not good enough defenders. Foley is not a midfielder and Hunt is either unfit or not the player we thought he was.
I see no way out of this mess. The signs have been there for months. The selection, tactics and woefully poor and late substitutions have not changed. He got lucky last year by playing one up front and some resilient defending.
We have the weakest squad, worst defence, and the most inflexible manager. We’ll get what we deserve.
I’m sorry to be so negative but if we can’t beat Wigan or West Ham we know what that means.
This game demonstrated why both Clubs languish in the basement. The first half was possibly the worst display of football from any teams this season – utterly forgettable and of low quality.
It also proves that the Liverpool win was a false dawn as we were clearly struggling to find any form. We lacked any zip to our play, no shape and the ball was in the air way too much. A superhuman effort on Wednesday translated into a very tired effort today. Even Jarvis had a poor game today which is disturbing to say the least.
While MM can claim we had chances the fact is we are not good enough to take the chances. Now we go on a six match run where we have to be favored to lose every game!!! It will be interesting to see what if any action is taken to make changes to the coaching management and what, if any, new players arrive in the transfer window. I suspect there will be no changes in coaching and it is doubtful that any intelligent/quality player would want to risk coming to a Club that is starting to go adrift of everyone above them.
We may be in a New Year but it looks like the die is already cast!!!
Let’s face facts, we are stuck with mm till the bitter end!
All we can do is get behind the team and enjoy the roller coaster!!
So just get behind whoever mm picks!
(even if the vast majority dont agree)
Come on you wolves!!

You have to take your chances in football and in life.In my opinion Berra is a solid enough defender, but if we are relying on him to score from corners and free kicks, we can forget it right now. Same with Ward in my opinion a decent footballer, but one without a best position and he will never score the goals in the Prem, just like Keogh could not add to his goal against Wigan last season. The comment from E and S says it all;WE LACK QUALITY.The win against Liverpool was great, but even in a bad summer the sun shines some days, but it is still a bad summer.

right you guys this is my first comment, as much as i agree i have never liked macarthy but at the end of the day you carnt always pinpoint the manager, it is the players themselves, i carnt understand how Fletcher doesnt start he offers us something different and is very intelligent. I feel with the right signings i.e dunne and davies remembering they have played to gether when villa were unbeatable in conceding goals and build from there i am starting to really worry as i say we are better against the higher teams so who knows

buy and buy now, sell fletcher if you aint gonna play him, get robbie kean mr morgan was going to pay his wages on loan last season so no reason why we cant afford him now or play fletcher now, get defence sorted get with a couple of buys im not sure davies is the answer but better than what we have, with craddock, henry and co coming back all can be salvaged. We need wins and that means we need goals.Do we sack mick/ i dont know if we go down he is the man for the job to get us back up, O’niel is a none starter, he aint coming to our club he is waiting for a big club with money to spend, if we get big sam fans wont like his style of play but he is a great manager, but he will not stay if we go down and i dont thnk his style would suit the championship,my belief if MM is as good as any one back him give him the players he wants.
Now the players we have need a kick up the backside, they are either good enough or need to be replaced as simple as that, on a final note kean would be a god send and he has unfinished business here i just hope if he does come he isnt let down by the rest of our players who seem to fire so inconsistently

Here we go again, eh? Same old story. Let’s just aportion this latest defeat to our “missed opportunities” or “some great goalkeeping” or even “goals change games”, shall we? As we’ve heard every excuse under the sun for this season’s nightmare, why not blame New Year’s Day for the calamity? At least it would make a change from the mystified, clueless ramblings of Mr. Michael McCarthy. The truth is, Wolves are Championship-standard material lead by a Championship-standard Manager. If you pay in peanuts, expect monkeys, and in Mick we have one.
I’ve as good as given up the ghost and am resigned to relegation. Watching the season unfold has been slow torture and a lingering death. Worse still, McCarthy and Clipboard Connor are still running the show despite gigantuan incompetence in most fans’ eyes. Unbelievable, Mr. Morgan! And to think that I thought Steve was a genuine football fan when he took over our beloved club. If he were, how come Numpty Mick will still be sat at his desk tomorrow morning?
This unfortunate season hasn’t been down to suspensions, injuries or mere ‘bad luck’, it’s down to incompetence. We can all see that. Everyone except, that is, at the top of the Molineux tree. Don’t they care? Aren’t they bothered that long-suffering fans are being shortchanged? Are they happy to see Wolves in terminal decline? Over to you, Moxey and Morgan. Personally, I’ll be glad when the final match whistle blows because we’re nothing but an embarrassment, and that really hurts.
SarfWolf, you have my sympathies, mate, as does every loyal Wolves fan who spends so much time, effort and money to witness a sinking ship. Roll on the fizzy pop league. At least we’ll be where such small-minded lack of ambition deserves us to be. I’M GUTTED!!!

Please sack this guy as he certainly wont go away on his own accord. After a truley massive result against Liverpool we shoot ourselves in the foot with some appaling defending.
Up front we really do look poor and even Jarvis is not firing. As for Hunt he couldnt even beat a player as slow as Ben Haim – waste of money as far as I have seen to date.
Could Keane by our saviour – I really hope so as he is class!!

We are not as bad as a lot of people claim when we have lost, and not as good as some people claim when we win. even though we never played particularly badly, our defensive liabilitys have once again been exposed. Desperatly need a left back and 2 centre halves.
Also as soon as we go a goal down we crumble as we only have a plan A.
Couldnt beleive he took elokobi off again just to keep ward on, twice ward was nowhere near their winger and one of those led to a goal. Im not saying elokobi is much better as he isnt but it unsettled the back 4.
Hopefully we will hav some new signings for after the doncaster game.

Why do we always lose 6pointers?
MM’s tactics are so poor! we beat pool with this team, but west ham are a different side, in this league you need to change your tactics on a match by match basis! MM stumbles on a side that wins then just plays it no matter what the circumstances!!!
Watched the game today and on large we were a little unlucky but how many times can you keep saying that line? all the teams that go down year after were “unlucky” also i guess??
Surely a change is whats needed? as im bored already & i havn’t even heard the “we were unlucky” & “we will bounce back” comments yet!

I said to the old man after the Liverpool win that we’d lose this one! Shame it’s so predictable. Questions over Fletcher’s and Ward’s selection are valid in my view. Their respective goal scoring records at this level are incomparable so I for one would love to hear an explanation from MM of Ward being selected to play the forward role.
For me, Wolves’ points tally so far compared with the promoted clubs is unacceptably low given the investment in players in the summer notably a proven striker.
I know the squad is capable of avoiding relegation but will they? It’s their inconsistency that makes it questionable. Everyone knows that’s MM’s responsibility currently and given that Steve Morgan is in the Liverpool tradition of sticking with managers for the extra mile, I don’t see things changing in the short term. But, he must be wondering if it’s worth spending big money this month on players that MM won’t select for whatever reason. I expect the conversation will take place and MM will spend. If we do stay up then I would possibly look at a change of direction in terms of management but if we go down then paradoxically there is no better championship manager in my view!

Some of you talk from your rears!!! McCarthy picks the SAME team who played Liverpool because they won and played well. Ward gets winner there and you saying drop him ??? Why ??? He has not done too bad at all. They have proven to us that they can play this game and also impressed these so called pundits. Get behind the team lads and lassies. If you don’t want to, SOD OFF !!! We CAN stay up so SUPPORT !!!! UP THE WOLVES & MM :)

Poor game. 2 sides that have absolutely nothing to offer up front. Took a own goal and predictably poor defending for West Ham to win.
We need 2 central defenders and a proven striker in January. SEB needs to go. Thanks for the memories but its not working for him or us in the Prem.
I suspect MM already knows Fletcher is off in Jan and doesnt want to play him for 90 mins, either that or he doesnt want to expose what a waste of money he was.
This time last year we had 1 more point but were 15th. At least at the moment its super tight with the bottom six so a win here and there and we could make it.
happy New Year!

I do think Mick has taken us as far as he is able.
Whilst I do understand his work rate ethic, I think to progress in the Premier needs more than this to succeed.
If we had the top 3 goal scorers in the Premiership I could see Mick not playing them,
Berbatov because of his work rate, Tevez because Mick does’nt handel homesick players very well!! and Carroll because he’s a little bit naughty off the pitch.
Its time to bring in somebody who can encourage flare and creativity within the team.
Its time to move on from decorators and start using artists.

It been said so many times & you don’t need to be a genius to work out the reasons for our rapid decline once more. For Gods sake a 7million striker on the bench & our top scorer!! History repeats itself at our great club at an alarming rate. Mick buys players but obviously something goes wrong once here & they don’t get a game or another game. McIndoe, Eastwood, Shackell, Fletcher, Guidiora, E-Banks come the list is endless. All these players could offer better then we have now. Don’t hold your breath for new signings as McCarthy is on record as saying whatever he buys wouldn’t enhance or improve what we have. That it then no January signings for the 2nd year running. Disgrace!!!

Sir Alex is quoted as saying this EPL edition could have the lowest point total ever of a potential champion, and suggested as low as “82 points.” Looking back on previous years, the average disparity or gap between the champion and the seventeenth place team has been about forty-five points. Would it not make sense, then, that survival would be less than the usual bandied about “40 points” for survival amount? If so, then we are maybe talking about 35 to 37 points. Where will we get those 18 points?
Chelsea (H) LOSS; Man City (A) LOSS; Liverpool (H) DRAW; Bolton (A) LOSS; Man Unt. (H) LOSS; Arsenal (A) LOSS; West Brom (A) DRAW; Blackpool (H) WIN; Tottenham (H) LOSS; Aston Villa (A) DRAW; Newcastle (A) DRAW; Everton (H) DRAW; Stoke (A) LOSS; Fulham (H) DRAW; Birmingham (A) LOSS; West Brom (H) WIN; Sunderland (A) LOSS; Blackburn (H) WIN
Thus, my prognostication sees us grinding out 15 points from our last eighteen fixtures. Will that be enough? Doubtful. Can’t believe we are in the state we are. Yet, something tells me it will come down to our last fixture with Blackburn! This team is unbelievably beautiful torture!

What’s all this about ‘bad luck’ etc? Wolves were totally outplayed by West Ham and the score could easily have been 5-0.This is a rabble of a team, incompetence all over the pitch without a clue about passing or keeping the ball on the deck, just endless long balls! Then there are the shots of Mick smiling on the sideline and that said it all for me,did he think we were winning? Bye bye Premier League!

Oh Clapham Wolf, so eager to knock back anyone who dared to say the blip at Liverpool was a one off.
It was the worst thing to happen. Mick gets more time, Ward gets more time, the whole mess rolls into 2011 and there really is no sign of it getting better.
Two up front yet Mick plays Ward not Fletcher – who gets 15 minutes at the end to rescue a lost cause. And like everyone else I nearly passed out when Bent came on with a couple of minutes left.
Desperation management. Like others I don’t really want change but we are currently now down. The results all went our way today so a win was a must.
All week we get the ‘call to arms’ from a manager and players that do not do what they are paid to do.
God help us with whatever he buys in January.

Same old crap, same old excuses, we were unlucky, should of got a point, we’re 2 points from safety, blah blah blah. 18 points and bottom with a train wreck of a goal difference and we’ll still be on 18 points by the end of feb. or does muppet think we’ll be picking up wins against chelsea, manure, arsenal etc. and liverpool certainly wont be rolling over for us next time.
Thick probably thinks that if we can just beat doncaster that will start our season, and we’ll still allow them to score, thats if they dont beat us.

There is no point in complaining, because nobody is listening.

The only thing that amazes me is the number of miserable dic* heads on here. Get a life you bunch of losers! We are in the Prem, MM got us there, kept us there and will do so again. You jackasses think it is easy to just turn up at West Ham and take three points, they too are playing for thier lives and they are an established Prem team. We have the players to do this as long as they believe and many of the next six teams will make the mistake of thinking we are pushovers and will drop points. Look at the table and you will see that no one is cut adrift and no one is running away with the title, it will not change until the final game and I suggest you gutless feckless fans fasten your seatbelts and begin to enjoy the ride. If we go down then let’s do it in style. Get behind YOUR team.

Back to earth, and crap defending on both goals though zubar was unlucky. At the other end the lack of clinical finishing is there for all to see. The defenders we have are NOT good enough.
Fletcher should have started today as this game was about goals nothing else really mattered.
I think Mick will probably stay till the end of the season. Morgan with his scouse connections would be so overjoyed that we beat liverpool he’ll keep him on.
But i am becoming more convinced that with mick in charge we will be relegated as we just dont get any points in games with the teams around us in the relegation zone.
We have now lost to fulham, blackburn, wigan, west ham, blackpool and aston villa.
Look at West ham who has beaten fulham, wigan and now wolves in recent games.
You dont stay up by beating a top table team like man city, liverpool every 6 or 7 games and losing all the rest. In 2003 we beat Man utd and still got relegated.
Our next four games are
chelsea
manchester city
liverpool
bolton
I am sure we will still be bottom even if we were to win one of these games with the other teams around us also picking up points.
Its not looking good, Mick really needs to sign a quality defender, midfielder and striker but He should have done this at the start of the season and I dont fancy his chances now as we lie bottom of the league.
Yes we have lots of players out injured but the truth is apart from Craddock we dont have any premship central defenders

I can’t understand some people here. When Wolves win all praise on Mick and when they lose the knives are on his back. If you saw yesterday’s match you can only come to the conclusion that Wolves were unlucky.
The first goal was a fluke own-goal and came from a clear offside position while the second came just after Ebanks-Blake hit the woodwork with a header that had Green beaten all the way.
On the other hand it is only four points that separates the last nine teams in the table so there’s everything to play for in the second half of the season.
So come on gentlemen let’s be positive and get behind the team that will surely be strengthened during the transfer window. Maybe Robbie Keane is on the way tp Molineux. Who knows?

No surprises here at all. Having followed the Wolves for nearly half a century, we continue our extraordinary ability to be the most unpredictable team in the country. One week we can beat the best and the next, get beaten by the worst. The inconsistency of our great team is one that goes back since I can remember. You almost become immune to it, but just hope that the curse might one day be broken!! fight on Wolves, but the omens certainly don’t look very good – we still have too many average teams to play!!!

Just look how the likes of Pulis, Coyle and Holloway, fairly average Championship managers, have fared well in the Prem. Then there’s the likes of the crafty/clever Avram Grant who, with hardly any budget will be a much better bet to secure WHU’s survival than our chances. So why do we STILL put up with this thick miner who after FOUR and a HALF years has only an ultimate ambition of avoiding relegation? Wolves fans are NOT impressed with this MM-Moxey-Morgan loyalty – in fact it’s totally irresponsible putting their “alliance” first – at both the teams and fans cost. We’re just waiting to go down.

why is it we beat liverpool and the goodie goodie people think we are mick haters!!!The fact of the matter is we are footballing people with a footballing brain who can see that we have a manager (who thinks us fans are numptys mick said it) that not only is tactically inept but also wears blinkers!!! i hate ward but if he is our best left back then he plays left back. Not up front.Round pegs round holes.simple.if i am mick round pegs in square holes we will make them fit. This managing attitude is unacceptable and i am one wolves fan who is fed up the the back teeth with the way he is managing our football club and the way he treats us supporters.we were here before you mick and will be long after you are gone. The only problem is morgan and moxey love and i mean love this guy for whatever reason and are prepared to let him ruin our club just like he did sunderland (just ask there fans). He buys players spends the cash then the very players he buys cant get a game for love nor money.Well he buys them he gets rid of them the board love him and us fans well we suffer.Enough is enough i cant take being sent to sleep at home matches any more and i refuse to pay mick wages anymore. It happened to taylor and hoddle and they only drew matches this bloke loses them and we say what can we do.All wolves fans the time has come to stand up and be counted lets get this man out of our club and acknowledge that mick has done alot for us and we will always be greatful but the time has come to move on and who replaces him well that aint for me to decide but our board doesnt decide anything now does it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could someone please explain to me what this grand ‘building for the future’ of the tree M’s actually involves. If we had a young up and coming manager with ideas who learnt from mistakes and was developing a style of play and buying / developing players to fit into that i could understand it. In such circumstances supporters at most clubs would be patient and give the manager time. It has happended at other clubs before.
So what is the grand plan at wolves. Are developing a style of football – no. Are we bringing through young home grown players into the team – no. Are we buying players who automatically slot into position to strengthen the first team – no. The manager wastes money on squad players and when we do sign a decent player they either sit on the bench or play out of position. The team selections and playing players out of position, tactics and substitutions defy logic.
There are posts on here that MM will keep us up this season. Well thats great but what about next season? What indications are there from such a stubborn mnagaer that it will be any different next season. MM did a great job in getting us promoted but that does not mean a job for life. If we honestly want to bring future success to the club it seems obvious to me that we have to change the manager – not for a short term fix – but for the long haul.
The difficulty is that i cannot see Jez Moxey overseeing such a process. If Steve Morgan had something about him he would bring in a new and experienced chief executive.
This was supposed to be the season where we pushed on but instead it is turning into the dreaded second season syndrome. I can live with us being relegated if something good comes out of it. What really scares me is starting next season in the championship with MM still manager.

Let’s not all think we’re going to get the pick of the crop with the January window signings. Hi Noisy,Firstly happy new year to you and all other Wolves fans,(although it could have started better).Saw the game live yesterday on tv here in a wet and miserable Malta,Thought Stearman had an excellent game, problem being as in most games no consistancy(except in the goals conceded column.
as 37 Mick Pearson said This game demonstrated why both Clubs languish in the basement. The first half was possibly the worst display of football from any teams this season – utterly forgettable and of low quality.Wanderer in Eire never quite gets his stats right but 30 defeats in 57 at Wolves and 52 in 85 as a premiership manager does not bode well for the rest of the season does it?.With regard to the transfer window is Curtis Davis 5th choice central defender at a Villa team also in a precarious position really the answer over to you mate.Briget&Tony see 43 Ward Robes comments Brilliant.

Just like old times for the 2nd goal. Ward, out of position at left back retreating into the penalty area, leaving the opponent plenty of room to pick out the killer ball. Game over.
Time our manager held his hand up from time to time, and stopped blaming players, many of whom are performing above their abilities.
Decision-making by the management that actually improves matters on the pitch for a change might help.
We simply do not have premiership players, we only have one or two players who can hold a ball, run with it or dribble. We just shoot it away from our goal and that’s that, and sometimes we win a game against all odds. This reminds me of our national team here in Malta, we sometimes win a game and then back again loosing all the games, we do not have what it takes.
So if Wolves do not have financial backing to attract good premiership players, give them good money, we might as well stay in the championship.
I sometimes wonder if I’m watching the same game when Mike says that we played very well.
I think that now it’s well late in the season, no one will want to come with our team, let alone a new manager.
I’ve been a Wolves supporter for more than 40years now and I do miss the good old years when we were competitve.
I will always be a wolf.

It is a shame that MM does not trust players with a bit more guile. He has created a team that works hard and obviously plays for the manager but they remain similar i.e. can’t drift past players or raise the crowd. Milijas is a wonderful player but too slow but i do see Fletcher in that role – he could be superb for this club and raise spirits but I don’t think MM trusts him enough. Unless MM buys well, with creativity in mind, the season will be defined on the fitness of Kitely.
And yes, Foley to RB, Zubar to LB & Richard Dunne will do nicely…not asking for much.

This is why Mick is clueless. The L’pool result, although deserved, was a fluke when you look at our record overall this season. People were happy we kept the same XI which IMO was a mistake, we were awful against Wigan and it’s the same team that played west ham! He should have changed things and played 4-5-1 as a draw would have been ok after the unexpected three points the other night.
Only a new manager can galvanise this squad and get the wins we need as Mick is out of ideas and doesn’t know how to manage in this league, there’s no argument we are bottom! Get o’neil or allardyce in who have to experience before we are too far adrift.
Also morgan is being disrespectful if he thinks the fans will tolerate this for much longer. We pay good money to go home and away and so far we’ve been left down by bad management of our club.
I wouldn’t give Mick and money to spend as he can’t attract the quality players we need, only a manager of stature can bring in these players.
Keane, Dunne, Bridge, Bentley, Jenas etc ate worth the wages as there so much better than what we have. Signing anyone from the lower leagues will send us down as they will not play! We have to bring in better players.
P.S. Is Fletcher the new Eastwood?

I’m back again after my comments last week. I hope all fans had a Happy New year after Liverpool gave us three points on a plate and how Mick’s comments made us world beaters. Once again we have shot ourselves in the foot. As I said last week the 2M’s need to get rid of the guy who throws up verbal garbage in the newspapers every day. Today is the 2nd day of the transfer window and I hear that Mick the MAGICIAN is looking at CHUMPS from the lower division to save a club that has more history than most of todays world leading clubs. If the policy of the 2M’s is to penny pinch then I know a couple of Ukrainian Billionaires who know a damn sight more about football than Indian Chicken farmers (eg. Shakhtar Donetsk), who would put their money where their mouths are and give us the WOLVES of the FIFTIES. Play the game 2′M’s, either make a change and put in the doe of put your hands up and let someone else who could make WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS a world class club again take over while there is still time to do something about it. I would like to read fans comments on the above.

The worst fact is that the CEO and owner don’t care less!!
After this debacle, Moxey has to go, but he can afford to retire to the sun with what he has made at Wolves anyway.
The owner only parted with £10 for the club, so this Liverpool fan doesn’t give a sh*t for Wolves anyway.

In all my years following wolves home and away I have not known such universal dislike of the manager by the fans. If and when Morgan builds this super stadium there will be no fans left interested. We have been here before, big ideas for the stadium and disregard for what’s happening on the pitch. It took us twenty years to recovery from the last ego trip, how long for this one. SM needs to state clearly what his idea of acceptable achievement is so we as fans can decide whether we are no longer happy to be treated as helpless bystanders in the disaster that is currently unfolding.

i agree with some points by suffolk wolf we did,nt close west ham down like we did at liverpool, i think they thought they could just turn up and get a result with out working their socks off like at anfield. Their second goal was a case of ball watching by jarvis watch the replay he was 20 yards away and just jogging back instead of closing down with ward. I think we were unlucky to play west ham when they have just hit a bit of form, so its a case of regrouping and having a right go at chelski on wednesday night.

A pre match interview by M.M
WHU will be a difficult side to beat. They have internationals in their side such as C.Cole. Upson and Green, .
What a confidence boosting speech. Nothing about M.M is inspriring and his comments are like a flue germ, it catches hold of the players and they feel down before thay start.
If we look back at one goal, two Wolves outfield players were open and asking for Hennessey to thrown them the ball. He waves them up field, refusing their request. His kick finds the head of a WHU defender, it is headed forward and with a few passes WHU have scored. Well done Goalkeeper. Not a fan of Stearman but he worked very hard and if only a few more players had followed his example.
The names of Davis, Robbie Kean have been mentioned. Davies cannot get a game with his current club, why should we have hime. He is similar to Berra and that is not a recommendation. Kean, well, are we sure that he still has it him in.? Has he lost that yard that once sent him through defences and made him a very good goal scorer.

We need 7 or 8 wins to ensure safety thats a fact – MM says bringing in players will not change anything and I must agree with MM on that – MM imv cannot cope with anyone that is established and a quality Prem Proven Player and neither can Job Done Jez
Roy Keane was obviously the main MM spat but imv Dennis Irwin was the better of the two ‘lack of man management’ cases for MM when it comes to Prem Proven
As quoted in the media – Dennis Irwin retired from international football shortly after MM’s infamous ‘show me you’re worthy/ similar’ and this happened in the season Irwin achieved a Champions league Premier league and FA Cup treble with Man U earning accolades from Alex Ferguson as one of his most reliable full backs ever! Hey but what would Alex Ferguson know about football?
Imv you could loan Spains World Cup winning first XI and MM would still play the same tactics and be devoid of anything more than what we’ve seen in the last 2 seasons
Big Sam imv would be the one to take these players forward and attract a Prem Proven spine that would help bring on the young and hungry ala Jarvis to a level of mid table stabillity in the Prem
Martin ONeill would be a better choice imv – But with Job Done Jez handling Mr Morgans affairs at club level Imv MM’s tenure will be assured whatever happens this season

The most important point many are missing here, is that the Premier League is highly profitable big business and we are simply playing at it. The Management are trying to do it on the cheap with totally inadequate personel, the business plan is flawed, individuals not fit for purpose and the leadership is infantile. The direction, motivation and what planning there is, is quite unbelievable.
I have to assume, as a retired commercial manager, that Morgan is listening to Moxey and that he, Moxey, has a highly suspect hidden agenda or knows nothing and is full of BS. Nothing about this current campaign makes any sense whatsoever, not financial or on the pitch. I cannot believe that their judgement is so poor and absolutely wrong and that it is allowed to continue, week after week.
I have sat in boardrooms and listened time and again to Managers conning directors and it appears to me that Morgan is on the recieving end of some highly suspicious advice and on that score I would advise him to have a private chat with some of his ex football friends in Liverpool and at the very least get a second opinion, better still several.

With players also saying that one defeat does not consign us to relegation, do you think that they, and MM, are deluding themselves as it’s quite obvious that an accumulation of defeats DOES consign us to relegation? Am I th only thick one with this query?
Also, why was Morgan away on holiday for the Liverpool game when his supposed loyalty to Wolves would, ordinarily see him at the match? I know it is the holiday season but, where are his true loyalties?
That then begs the question, what is the mapped out future for our wonderful club?

Here we go again, just seen that Mr Mcghoo is spending Mr Morsans money wisely then!!!!!! Danny Shittu from Millwall 31 years old. Brown from Portsmouth 31. Dunne from the Villa 30 odd. Whats the matter with the acadamy lads being given a chance? I see West Ham, Villa, Everton are playing them. Oh I know why, they are all out on loan cause McGhoo don’t like ‘em. Remember Mark Davies??????

Happy New Year Malta.
Glad to see a few posts are keeping a sense of proportion. I honestly doubt that anyone who has been going or more than 5 years can really think these are hard times. Year after year of hoping we might scrape into the play-offs (and having our hearts broken if we did) under Taylor, McGhee and Lee. Absolute rubbish under Hoddle (who was surely the worst of the lot). I have some personal ‘highlights’ of getting cheated at the Reebok to miss 6th (don’t even ask about Burnden Park and Bully), losing away at Grimsby and having their fans reminding us that we would be back the year after, etc. I’m not talking about the real dark days, just the ones the U-30′s might remember.
Yet people who have just about worked out that thick rhymes with Mick (but can’t actually spell themselves), or that clipboard and Connor both begin with the same letter, feel they know enough to show a complete lack of respect to guys who (whatever you think of them) give their all for our club.
Call for their heads if you want to, but unless you’ve actually successfully managed a Premiership football club at least do it with some class.

# 92 Ukrainian Cossack, my second team is Dynamo Kiev and my favourite food is, you’ve guessed, Chicken Kiev. For recreation I enjoy horse riding and swordplay, both together where at all possible.
You are of course completely right about rebuilding the famous Wolverhampton Wanderers. We should talk about this and, naturally, please feel free to bring your friends.

I thought the McCarthy witch hunt was all to do with Americans and Communists!
All the Mick Bashers should just take a closer look at the table. I know we’re bottom of it but we’re within 4 points of 12th place.
It won’t require McCarthy to win 47% of his remaining games to escape relegation: it simply requires us to finish with one more point than 3 other teams.
And on the current form of the bottom 9 sides, it could be any of those 9 going down. We have a tough run coming up shortly, but these are games we shouldn’t expect to take much from. However, we also have a relatively attractive final run-in.
Trust me and trust Mick: nothing is anywhere near being decided yet, and we can look forward to the ‘new signings’ of Cradddock, Henry and Kightly hopefully all making an impact.
Look, it’s far from perfect but we’re taking our first few steps towards consolidation as a genuine premiership side. We’re not as bad as most of the pessimists say, but we do make too many costly mistakes, and we do struggle to find the net. Which makes me say, even as a Mick loyalist, what on earth is Fletcher doing on the bench???

No 72. Do you really think that Wolves will go and beat Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup? Certainly not because the LAST 25 YEARS our team have been a JOKE in the Cup Competitions.
You can forget that tie which in my opinion is a definite defeat for Wolves as is usual with them they will be bundled out of the Cup.
The reason will be readily put forward is that we are already engaged in a fight to avoid the drop. Could be during the last 25 years it would have been better for Wolves not to participate at all in both Cup competitions. They are always buying injured players like Mouyokolo and taking Bent on loan while sending a youngster on loan when he could have gained experienced in the Premiership. When do you think these players will be drafted in the first team and what about those so-called academy youngsters who are destined to be sent on loan and will never get the chance as I said the other day the likes of Albrighton and Henderson have had. When Wolves buy players they are destined to the bench and others are home-sick. When are we going to have a team ready to challenge when they faced with a crucial game like West Ham. We must be realistic enough to see we cannot do a proper job against teams like Wigan, West Ham and Blackburn which took all three points. And there will be more setbacks against the so-called mini-league teams because Wolves cannot compete when they face these teams in crucial matches. Most of the time they have lost crucial battles against teams just above them. This year we are definitely out of this division and if luck is on our side we could do a yo-yo act like Bolton, Sunderland, Fulham and West Ham to name but a few. It would be a blessing in disguise if we lose more than haflf of our squad when relegation becomes a reality and start from scratch again with some of the youngsters we have to take over. As to a change of manager I don’t know but we need to see a new bunch of youngsters getting into the team and not those buys who really are not getting us forward.

Same old pathetic responses to a loss.
Anyone would think we were top four the way they dismiss the opposition, we cannot seem to get passed Green, and if we could it would have been a whole lot different.
Every game is going to be a challenge and the looked a little shattered when the 2nd went in.
Back the boys there are still 6/7 teams still around us.

4 points off 12th by Jan 1st/ 2nd is better than we’d have expected at the start of the season.
Amazingly, we’ve done it eventhough form and injuries are Bad.
Well done JM and SM for keeping the faith.
Last thing we want is a return to Ch’ship struggles, so stick with SuperMick.

13, another example of fans making unrealistic transfer suggestions. Tarrabt is a spurs player on loan at qpr. Add him to the list of Lescott, Keane, Dunne, Martin O’neill, wheater and macheda who have all been suggested but would never come to Wolves.
Start thinking realistically guys, we are favourites to go down and we don’t honestly want mm spending (wasting) our money

Ward offered nothing up front at West Ham, then was moved to left back to keep him on the field only to be at fault for the second goal, standing off his man and allowing him to cross it rather than making a challenge or getting tight. So no doubt he’ll start on Wednesday either up front or at left back.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we beat either Chelsea or Liverpool at home this month. The problem is we’ll then lose to teams around us. It would have been better to lose to Liverpool and beat West Ham than vice versa.

Well there it is, our season defined…bottom of the Pem and can’t pick up points from anyone around us. HAPPY CLAPPERS, Morgan & Mox what have you to offer? We could always sign this promising defender, lots of experinece, he’s Qulaity, goes by the name of Neil Collins…would make a great partnership with Ward!!!

The rumors begin to fly about who Wolves are being connected with. If true, the likes of Shittu and some guy called Green (Derby County) hardly reflect the idea of ambition of staying in the Division!!!
We may be only four points out of the midway place in the table but consider who we play in the next SIX matches!!! We have failed against Wigan and West Ham and clearly flamed out beating Liverpool. Without quality players being added to the squad, it takes a leap of faith to believe the Club will pull out of the tailspin we are in.
If we fail to pick up any points over the next six games we will be hopelessly adrift. I hope it does not go that way but the management of the Club does not give much cause for having any belief we can survive.

It makes me laugh when I see the happy clappers on here saying were only 4 points off 12 place.
What ever way you sugar coat it were rock bottom with a Championship defence and the most unsuccesful Manager the Premiership has ever seen. The table doesnt lie unless remedial action is not taken immediatatly in the form of an influx of quality players we are down, just read the bookies analysis and Gary Lineakers verdict in News of the World.Over to you Moxey and Morgan.

Hey Crockett, which boards have you and Tubbs sat on on during your long and distinguished business careers? Despite the paranoia displayed by yourself and many others, Moxey has always been a very shrewd and diligent operator for this club and has been an all too easy scapegoat when times have been tough. I’m unsure as to what ‘hidden agenda’ the CEO of a football club could possibly have but presumably you can, with your astute business acumen, enlighten me.
In addition to furnishing the manager with a £30m+ transfer kitty, I believe Steve Morgan is also committed to redeveloping the stadium to the tune of a further £40m and, thus, I don’t see the problem being there either.
The only possible criticism of the way the club is run financially is player salaries and the club have missed out on certain deals (Scott Dann as an example) by not paying the ‘going rate’ although on the flip side it does appear they were willing to pay Keane’s wages fir the second half of last season.
The buck for me stops with the manager who does make some truly baffling decisions. However, and as we have over achieved (compare our wage bill to the other clubs in the leagues we have been in each season) in three out of the four seasons of his reign, he deserves the remainder of the season in my view. Unfortunately, and if we are relegated which does look likely, Allardyce may well have taken another job by that point – he would certainly be my choice though as a manager who, in contrast to McCarthy, has always demonstrated fantastic tactical awareness and an ability to comfortably retain the Premiership status of clubs of our size.

I have just completed my travel arrangements for the next TPS (restricted season ticket) game I am allowed to attend. Obviously, the geographical difference between the Scottish western isles and Wolverhampton would make it impossible for me to watch every home match!I worked in Wolverhampton on the Express and Star way back in the late 1960s early 70s and never missed a ganme. Having followed the fortunes of my beloved Wolves with me since August, my wife thinks I am seriously off my head by spending £350 a time from 400 miles away to do this is. Sadly, I am beginning to agree with her.
Of course, according to MM I am just a numpty, like all other genuine Wolves fans who had this dreadful description bestowed on them by a REAL numpty masquerading in the guise of a football team manager, i.e, Mr Michael McCarthy.
I love Wolves with a passion – yes, from far away on a Scottish island, and spend REAL money to attend Molineux. Sadly, I think it is way past time that SM and JM appreciate all we fans from all parts do for the team and terminate MM’s employment before we are consigned to the fizzy pop league.

137,Clearly you have not looked at the Premier league table lately or perhaps you fail to understand we are a football club. You seem to think being bottom is an over achievement. You seem to think we all pay our £500 season tickets just to buy Moxey pies and admire his shrewd management.Does shrewd management include selling Mark Davies for a few quid and buying Maierhofer instead of Carroll?I do not doubt Jez’s integrity or his ability at controlling costs.I do question his vision and ambition in signing footballers. And since we are a football club, that is pretty important.Crockett and others, incuding myself, are fans who care about our club.We are entitled to our opinions and we can read the league table.
Chris, apologies for not making myself clearer – the four seasons to which I referred do not include the current season where, using my own measure of respective wage bills, we should clearly be ahead (multiples) of Blackpool and probably on a par with Albion – I can’t think of any other current Premiership club where salaries are ‘capped’ between the 25k – 30k per week mark (Blackpool reportedly have a 10k per week cap).
Thus, my own expectation going into this season was for for the club to retain its Premiership status but, this said, I would have seen another 15th place finish as a great achievment and have been content ‘merely’ to survive once more (would many supporters demand more at this point – I do, all too frequently, look at the Premiership table).
With respect to player purchases and sales, again I would attribute much of any criticsim to the Manager who, quite rightly, must have ultimate control over the playing staff at the club. In this regard, however, McCarthy isn’t the worst by any stretch of the imagination – there are numerous examples of much bigger flops than any of those at our club in recent years. My issue here, would be that the Manager contributes to the ‘flopping’ of signings as with Eastwood previously and possibly Fletcher this season.
When considering some of the outgoing deals that have been brokered during Moxey’s time at the club (e.g. Camara twice, Lescott with a good sell on clause, Van Damme), I think it’s pretty harsh to pick on the Davies deal with the expectation that the club would be able to foresee the value of a young player, who after being much touted as a youth, had a two or three (?) seasons in the senior squad characterised by injury and eratic form.
This, and any other type of fans forum, highlights one of the real beauties of the game; namely it can provoke a multitude of different opinions to which, you quite rightly state, we are all entitled.

To Jez Moxey Junior
The club management , including coaching staff, have failed over the past three or four years to manage the requirements for a Premier League club. yes they have only in their second season in the Premier, but you have plan in advance, which brings me to the academy Who has come out of the Academy and achieved successin recent times? Having failed in the academy area, the club have not been successful in many of the signings, yes some may have played in the Premier League but who of these has been a success with other clubs.
Look at the shambles in the defence, do not quote J Craddock, he is no better than the current trustees of the defence.
Near enough every night in the E&S, there are players blowing hot air on what they are going to do and what is needed, well stop the talk and do the deed M.M does not really inspire the readers of the E&S and neither do the players comments. We have players on loan such as Bent , yet he is hardly selected to get on the field of play . Perhaps M.M thinks he is not good enough. I am not a fan of Bent but, it is certainly not fair on Bent.
Yes, many other clubs have failed with their signings but they are not bottom of the league. we are The Wolves and our cause is for the Wolves. M.M can go tomorrow but we are still here, we do not change clubs.
Remember, the last time the club was saved, it was a local councillor, and he was also a former mayor, who kick started the revival with the deal for the ground with the council.
Also a £10:00 deal gave new life in recent times, please do not waste this chance

Moxey Junior, We could pick individual deals until we are blue in the face. You me and Crockett could have sold Lescott for a good fee from the back of a van.The manager must take some responsibility for the duff deals and for especially not banging down the boardroom door to get better players. But the parameters are set by the board eg wage structure and transfer pot.For this in my opinion our beloved Chief Executive is culpable.

Here we go again same old story, very poor performance and we derserved to loose, 5 wins out of 21 games is just not good enough, ok most of the wins were against some of the better teams in the league, but if you cannot beat Wigan at home and the bottom of the table team, we deserve to go down. If we are playing some good football (so say’s Mick), these are the teams we should be taking points off, and if we get the odd points off the big boys all the better, OK we beat Liverpool the other week, but that does not make the season, in the 21 games we have played we have had a win every 5th game approx, if we keep this up we are only due to win another 3 games for the rest of the reason that gives us 27 points throw in a few draws we will be lucky to finish with 30 points. GOING DOWN, To late to get rid of big Mick let,s face it who would want to take over.
