Wolves 1 Wigan 2

Woeful Wolves hit rock bottom for the first time this season after they were sunk by Wigan at Molineux.

Goals from Hugo Rodallega and Tom Cleverley inside the first 20 minutes dismantled the desperate home side, who are now rooted to the foot of the Premier League.

Substitute Steven Fletcher pulled one back with three minutes left to set up a grandstand finish but Wolves failed to rescue a point.

The hosts started the game at the bottom after West Ham’s 3-1 win at Fulham earlier in the day, but knew victory would move them level on points with 17th placed Birmingham.

Fit-again Matt Jarvis had to settle for a place on the bench, as manager Mick McCarthy named an unchanged side from the crucial 1-0 win over Birmingham two weeks ago.

Fletcher and David Jones joined Jarvis in the dugout as Wolves’ squad – and their survival hopes – were boosted by the strength of their bench.

But, following an even opening, Wigan took the lead after nine minutes with a goal of worrying simplicity.

Stephen Ward only cleared a corner as far as Cleverley and, when the Manchester United loanee’s pass was hooked on by Gary Caldwell, Rodallega spun Richard Stearman to fire into the far corner from six yards.

It was a disastrous start by Wolves, with Stearman looking uncomfortable with Rodallega’s presence.

But the hosts almost levelled immediately when Christophe Berra failed to get a clean strike on Ward’s free kick and goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi saved.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake then fired wildly over but it was Wigan who had kept their cool in the opening stages.

The home crowd had become increasingly frustrated and Mohamed Diame’s shot was easily collected by Wayne Hennessey on 20 minutes – but seconds later the goalkeeper was beaten again.

Rodallega was granted space 25-yards out to find Cleverley with a fantastic pass inside Ronald Zubar and the midfielder calmly stroked home through Hennessey’s legs.

It was the stuff of nightmares for McCarthy and Wolves needed a massive rescue act to salvage the game.

Ward was left screaming for a penalty on 22 minutes after a tangle with Steve Gohouri, before Stephen Hunt headed David Edwards’ cross over from five yards.

But the outstanding Rodallega was Wolves’ tormentor-in-chief and threatened to pick apart the hosts’ defence at every opportunity.

The Colombian’s audacious 30-yard strike arrowed wide after 33 minutes, with Wolves disjointed and second best.

Yet only a stunning reaction save from Al Habsi denied them a route back on 35 minutes.

Ebanks-Blake won a free-kick 20 yards out and when Milijas’ effort deflected off the wall it looked like Wolves were back in it – only for a wrong-footed Al Habsi to stick out a leg and block.

McCarthy opted to keep faith with his starting line-up at the break and Antolin Alcaraz denied Ward four minutes into the second half.

But, after failing to make a much-needed breakthrough, man of the moment Jarvis replaced Edwards 55 minutes to an expectant roar.

Five minutes later, the England hopeful provided Hunt with a chance after picking the midfielder out at the far post whose header was blocked by Ronnie Stam.

Cleverley then tested Hennessey before Zubar clattered into the flying Charles N’Zogbia and was duly booked after 65 minutes – only for former Albion loanee Ben Watson to fire over the resultant free kick.

Fletcher then replaced George Elokobi with 22 minutes left and pulled one back on 87 minutes.

Jarvis crossed from the left and when Ebanks-Blake’s header hit Alcaraz, Fletcher rifled in the loose ball from close range – but Wolves couldn’t find the crucial second.

    Disillusioned Wolf

What a shambles we are. I am slowly resigning myself to the idea that it would be better to go down and rebuild in the Championship rather than scrap on in this dogfight with very little joy.

Whilst I hate to see a man lose his job, McCarthy must take some blame for this. His failure to sign a decent left back and persistence with average Championship players is costing us dear. We conceded 53 goals in the Championship in 2008/09 and it is pretty much the same defence as that, so we are bound to struggle. One clean sheet all season says it all.

Also, he has wasted our money. £7 million is an expensive bench-warmer, and Steven Fletcher just hasn’t come up with the goods or been given the chance to. Added to that, Mouyokolo seems a waste of money. The fact we lost 2-1 to Wigan at home (who we have no divine right to beating… it’s just we really need to if we want to survive) yet have spent something like £15 million+ this season suggests McCarthy hasn’t done his job.

I will always love the Wolves, but this season has left me disillusioned and the manager’s attitude to the fans (I’m probably a numpty) has left me detached from my club.

Moxeys statement about backing Micko suggests he should be on his way as well. How can Mr Morgan allow this to go on, or is the plan to let us slip down into the fizzy pop? Does he think we´ll bounce back again? How many of you out there think we´ll come back up at the first shout? Moxey again: “We don´t want to do a West Brom”, well you could have fooled me. Bottom at Christmas means we´ll have to do a West Brom. This club has got some second rate players. A good manager can motivate average players, our manager doesn´t even know where to play his best players but he knows where to play his average ones. Ward will play next week, I don´t know where but he´ll play. Super Mick? Super Thick.

Could say we had a lot of positives from the game, could say the lads gave their all, could say spent a load of money buying unfit players, could say I have never seen Wolves best team played, could say the manager needs to galvanise players, could say maybe the manager is not upto snuff, could say a new manager might be the saviour of Wolves this season, could say we need a miracle.

Could say in the next 20 games we might make 21 points, with the 15 we have now thats 35, could say that might be enough to miss the drop.

Yet another show of defensive incompetence. Having signed AND coached all his defenders bar the injured Craddock, Mick must take some blame for this (but being a numpty, what do I know…). Too much still to play for to call for drastic action on the managers’s front, in my view, but we desperately need some unexpected points from the next batch of matches.

Absolute disgrace. Were our lot out on the tiles over Xmas? Shocking, inept, clueless and amateurish. Wolves, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Losing is one thing, but making a tin-pot outfit like Wigan look half decent is criminal.

McCarthy, sorry mate, you’ve just GOT to go. A Championship defence with no real leaders on the pitch and your usual favourites on the field, taking us down. And why buy star players just for their bums to warm the bench?

Forget that super, new Molineux and Steve Morgan’s dream to take our great old club back to the very top. Instead, look forward to another 20 odd years of life in the wilderness. That’s the price we’ll pay if numpty Mick and Clipboard Connor stay in their jobs.

Nobody likes dismissals, but we -nor Wolves- owe those pair anything. Fat salaries and a dismal, totally inept season means they’ve failed spectacularly.

I´ve had it up to here with you lot. Can´t you see we´re trying to build a new stadium here and all you numpties are worried about is how the team plays. About winning. Tactics is about leaving your best players on the bench to make the opposition think the manager doesn´t know what he´s doing. Therefore they think they can beat us easily, whereas what tactics is really about is bringing on the strikers with two minutes left to get the fans salivating for a grand finale and we can all say we almost got a point…..at home…….against Wigan.
You lot out there call yourself fans, you obviously haven´t got a clue about modern football if you think it´s about winning. Course it´s not. It´s about parachute payments and building liences and lining the pockets of modern day chairmen who have a vested interest in keeping their employees in work while fleecing the poor sops who pay their hard earned cash in entrance fees, got that have you all out there in numptiville?

Wigan were desperately poor, but thanks to Santa-style generosity were handed 2 easy goals on a plate. The Birmingham game was a red herring-we won because they were shocking. The ‘emergency’ team that day did their job, but better players in certain positions were available again today and should have started (Jones in particular rather than Foley, also Jarvis rather than Hunt and Fletcher rather than Ward). We had effort in abundance, but at the total expense of any quality whatsoever. Ebanks Blake looked a broken man, we created nothing at all. Very sad, but sacking McCarthy is not the answer.

I have never campaigned for anyone to lose their job whether in industry or football but I honestly feel that Mick mcCarthy has taken Wolves as far as he can and should now step aside voluntarily or by force . Last season he eventually chanced upon a method of playing which did work and which kept us up . This season I thought that we would see a new era of attacking football at molineux to cement our place in the premiership but we are back again to the single striker both at home and away and whoever we are playing. Blackpool , Newcastle and WBA at least go at the opposition and put them on the backfoot from the start while we , who have managed only one clean sheet in around 24 matches have to wait until we have conceded the obligatory match winning goals to the opposition before we make changes and perhaps look more likely to score . This season Jarvis has looked tremendous and our most likely route to creating chances . He misses one game though injury and then , although any other manager in this division would have brought him back immediately , he has to wait until into the second half before getting onto the pitch . We are now becoming a little of a joke with every other team thinking that they only have to attack us from the kick off and we will fall apart without the possibility of getting back into the game once they have scored . I am very disillusioned now , as I feel Steven Fletcher is too , and I cannot even get enthusiastic at the possibility that MM might sign more players in January since they too will be behind his favourites in line to play . Someone please rescue us from this current custodian of our wonderful team .

Wolves woeful position in the league can be summed up by this piece of imaginative but inacurate reporting: “Stephen Ward only cleared a corner as far as Cleverley” which actually means he failed to clear the corner at all.
Mick McCarthy has had two close seasons since winning the Championship to build a Premiership defense and has failed big time to do so, despite spending plenty of the Clubs money. Who in their right minds would give him more next month? Who in their right minds would want to come to Wolves when the Championship beckons? Who would come here knowing that the odds are they´ll sit on the bench until the end of April while the manager slims them down, speeds them up but doesn´t actually play them? Who would want to come and play for a club who have the most arrogant manager in the whole Prem with the worst statistical record to boot.
To be fair the guy has done well at Championship level but he just can´t up his game and cut it at this one. He should go and his “coach” should go too. Coach? if this is the level of coaching, my old Leyland could do a better job.

Ok Ward did great against blues when we had no one else to play up front, but to favour him in attack over a fit Fletcher is just plain daft, but not only that we have argueably one of the best wide men in the country in Jarvo, fit again so Mick plays his trump card ……….on the bench??? and then he waits until the game is 3/4 over and as good as lost (as usual) before he finaly decides to change it. He seems to have his little group of players who will play no matter what and every one else will just have to lump it even if we get relegated in the process and that is unacceptable. If there are players who can do a better job in certain positions than his personal favourites then they should play, he should put the club first not his you’ll do as I say pride.

I have been simply going and monitoring, allowing things to develop. Very costly signings who seldom play, great players from last year barely seeing the ball nevermind kicking it anywher constructive and bottom of the table.

Is there a summary here? Well the team or any team relys on the person in charge. They play when asked to and their enthusiasm is based upon belief of being able to win. We have problems in all areas.

Perhaps Morgan and Moxey should concentrate on staying in the premiership rather than adding a bigger asset with a bigger stadium. 40,000 people coming? where from? the Orkney Isles? Let us drop in the Championship leage where we belong right now and say goodbye to the loyal supporters who have been there in the rain and snow. You are letting us down and yourselves.

Need I add all the players we have, yes have a few, who ahould be in the Premiership. Moxey will sell them, rubbing his hands in glee (he gets a bonus for that doesn’t he?. So its Morgan gaining asset value, Moxey getting into more extra income. McCarthy he has his own struggles never been a Premiership manager so why does he care? The game was effectively over after then.
MM took far too long to put fletche on. He should have put Mujanjia bia and Jarvis on the wings and go for broke, but Mujanjia bia never gets a chance. What is the point of him being on loan? why no send him back to belgium.
The situation as it stands is that we will not stay up with Stearman, elokobi, ward and foley playing in midfield.we need to rely on teams like blackburn, fulham, brum, west ham, blackpool having a really bad run.

I do not and never have thought that MM is the long term answer to our survival in the Premiership. Guess what.. nothing from today’s result has changed my opinion one bit!
That said, all the noises from the Mol (…best Manager in 30 yrs blah blah blah)suggest that we may be stuck with MM for a while yet.

But to what effect? Another appalling defeat against one of the clubs that we should be beating if we are realistic about EPL survival. Interesting how West Porn United allegedly gave Avram Grant a 3 game ultimatum and they are now undefeated in 2 and off the bottom! Perhaps things are just a little bit too cosy in the Molineux Boardroom between Morgan, Moxey and MM?

Ultimately, I think the key question is are we realistic about survival? Unfortunately, as things stand, I think that the answer is a resounding NO.

The evidence is clear for all to see. We are bottom because we have lost more games than anyone else and have a manager who seems to be capable of being tactically out thought by most of his peer group. We have consistently failed to string results together in this division… we beat Sunderland only to go belly up against Blackburn, then we beat Birmingham only to end up playing like a complete bunch of to%%ers today.

We now have the January transfer window looming and apart from MM’s love children, does anyone really have the confidence that he has the guile and footballing nous to really improve our squad sufficiently that survival is a possibility?

So what to do? I appreciate that it is always much easier to criticise rather than offer constructive alternatives. However, for me our survival is inextricably linked with MM’s capabilities (….or lack of them) as a top flight Manager.

In my view, if MM stays we are down, if he goes we have a chance of survival. For me, it is not a case of anyone other than MM. We have to go for the right man.

So whilst previously advocating Alan Curbishly on a short term contract, there is now an even better ready made replacement for MM in SAM ALLARDYCE (interesting to see that Blackburn seem to be imploding now that he has gone). Go get him SM if you still want to own a Premiership footabll club in 2011.

All we ask is a manager who can pick a good team and like blackburn base our team on clean sheets instead of losing the game after 10 minutes EVERY SINGLE MATCH.

    Wolves team after january

    Manager: Chris Hughton

    Hennesey

    Clyne (buy)
    Wheater (buy)
    Lescott (loan)
    Bridge (loan)

    Jarvis
    Milijas
    O’neil (buy)
    Hunt

    Doyle
    Fletcher

    Out: Foley, stearman, bent,

Other potential signings: Cuellar, curtis davies, dindane, wheater, o neil, lescott, keane, sturridge, whealan, WOODGATE, carlos vela, taylor, michael johnson, hammill

Chris hughton would know how to pick a team and a formation that is consitently good, come on steve morgan, trust me, more wolves fan would agree with this solution more than the comedy of the management at the moment, Let me just ask you one question, do you really see mick mcarthy being a potential europa league or top ten manager like you have claimed is the ambition, because none of the fans see it like that, Get your act together and sort this mess out by getting a decent gaffer, SORT IT OUT MORGAN, HE IS WASTING YOUR MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!

There was only one team up for it today Wigan. They competed all over the pitch. It looked like 10 men against 15. I could bring a team of enthusiastic amateurs against Wolves and we would beat them by giving them no time on the ball. whenever a team does this we are clueless and all other managers realise this.
If you have the ball the other team can’t do anything. so why do’nt we retain possession ie kick-off play ball back to goalkeeper kicks upfield comes straight back with them in possession. Goalkeeper rarely looks to give it to our players – kick it as far up field as possible.
Defenders play ball between each other under no pressure play ball behind team-mate not for them to run onto. I could go on.

Dreadful – 1-2 flattered us and we undoubtedly got what we deserved (despite poor reffing). Although I am constantly on here defending Mick I think he has to take most of the blame today. We got lucky v Blues as we played basically the only 10 fit outfielders and they were very poor. I presume that Jarvis was judged to be not capable of more than 30 minutes or surely he wuld have started?? Ward had a good game v Blues and I thought he did OK today, but surely Fletcher has to play ahead of him, especially as he was fully upfront today and not floating to make a 5 man midfield when we lost the ball. The back 4 were poor (Zubes seems to have escaped criticism so far on here (39 comments) but he was awful – it’s not just managers who have their favourites) but the protection from the midfield was non-existent at times and Milijas was far too deep throughout the first half in particular. I would not agree with comments about Ebanks-Blake beign lazy, as I thought he ran himself ragged again trying to feed on scraps.

Well i said the other day, Wigan would be hard to beat if the right Wigan turned up. I do understand to point why MM played the same 11 who beat B’ham, as it would be very hard to tell a player ‘your dropped’ when you won your last game 1-0 and keeping the first clean sheet of the season. Having said that i dont think were a team who can play two games on the trot the same. So therefore changing it wouldn’t have been totally wrong either, has i dont think were a team who can leave out there ‘best players’ if fit we ‘must’ always play our best players, we havent got the class/luxury of leaving the likes of ‘Jarvis, Fletcher’etc on the bench,Fletcher as proved time and again when given playing time he can/will score goals in the PL. But with MM system he wont play SF but with today’s system he could have played SEB and SF behind him, but chose to play S.Ward, then when he did bring SF on in Ward’s position, he dropped SW back to his usual position of LB. As we are all aware Morgan wont sack MM, so why then doesn’t he get him more help in the way of ‘better coaches’ ( i dont mean ARRIVA either ) go for Gus Poyet,Paul Lambert men like those would help us change our methods/style of play bring in fresh ideas must be better than what we’ve got at present with just TC? all the other Top PL clubs have 3-5 coaches around them? Mr Morgan

I was going to rant and rave and say how let down I felt, then I was going to say how pathetic our effort and endeavour was, then I just decided to state the facts and let everyone, hopefully including you, (who I am assured by people who have worked with you in the construction industry, is a fair but ruthless manager, who is not slow to get rid of people who underperform).

    Premier League Spending 09/10:
    Doyle £6.5m
    Milijas £2.5m
    Surman £1.2m
    Hahneman FREE
    Halford £2m
    Zubar £1.5m
    Maierhofer £2m

    TOTAL: £15.7m

    Premier League Spending 10/11:
    Fletcher £6.5m
    Hunt £3m
    Mouyokolo £2.5m
    Van Damme £2.5m

    TOTAL: £14.5m

    GRAND TOTAL: £30.2m

How many of these players are deemed good enough to REGULARLY start with the 7, yes SEVEN!!!!! players from the Championship winning team, who still play REGULARLY, MANY OUT OF POSITION when fit?……………3, YES THREE : Doyle, Milijas (apparently reluctantly on the manager’s behalf) and Hunt.

Meaning £18.2m of the money spent on new players is wasted because the players are either not good enough to replace what we already had (so why buy in the first place?), or have already been deemed not good enough (Surman, Halford and Maierhofer) and already been shipped out.

Mr Morgan, you have a decision to make, plain and simple……..change nothing and we go down, give MM more money to maintain his current transfer ‘record’ and go down……maintain the club’s current wage structure and go down……….hopefully you can see where I am going with this!

Go down, and save the cost of rebuilding the ground (is this what you want?)

Mr Morgan, the ‘ball is in your court’, but whatever you decide, you need to decide fast if you are to maintain the trust and faith of the club’s fanbase, and more importantly if you are to help to save our season.

Its not a knee jerk reaction to a bad result, MM & TC are totally inept at this level! what do they do all week?

Players dont seem to know each other, runs they make, where they want the ball its so sunday league stuff, players dont know there roles! i.e hunt/milijas on freekicks! we have no one with any bottle who is brave enough to try a pass, do something different! all we do is pass back or hoof it into corners for strikers to chase! pointless football!!

Ok what next – well our New Year wish is for a manager who can bring in players to compliment what we have & galvanize them into at least fight for points. Trouble is no new manager will have had time to assess what it needs. By the time he has there will only be the scraps left that nobody else wants. I mean we couldn’t even secure Sidwell pre Jan as he is now heading for West Porn Utd!!

Are we stuck with McCarthy for the long haul? I suspect we are, shame really with the likes of Hughton, Wilkins, Big Sam, O’Neill ready & available. They could move McCarthy upstairs if they are really reluctant to release him. I think it’s time for TC to move on from his comfort zone.

Macarthy has never won or even got close to winning anything outside of the championship where HE belongs. And he’ll takle this great club back down there with him just as he did with sunderland.

Now our top earner Doyler on 30 grand a week is a long way short of the mark if ever we want to attract any top players our board need to come up with a similar type of wage structure or we are only going to keep on signing championship level players .

The local radio said MM had one eye on the Liverpool game???? Surely a virtual 6 pointer against Wigan was the game to worry about, anything would be a bonus at Anfield.
Seerman – All Wolves fans watch him in a game from now on – never seen him meet a ball coming forward he ALWAYS is back pedalling to defend because he has no positional sense. Ward – Can’t wait for his appearance in goal for the team – he has played everywhere else. Although I do not rate big George, he was no worse than anyone else testerday yet hewas hauled off so that MM’s lovechild could stay on!!!!!

Some basic facts of life at Wolves:
Jarvis is a left winger, play him there.
Ward will not score goals so don’t play him as a striker
Fletcher does score goals play him
Foley is not strong enough to play central midfield, play him at right full back
Stearman is not reliable enough to play centre back in the Prem
We have needed a right winger since Kightly was injured over a year ago.
We need a leader and dominating centre half.
Scrap plans for rebuilding the ground and prioritise on signing Prem quality players with pace, power and skill.

Would you trust Mick to buy a defender? Only Zubar and Foley have been successes, and Foley is a midfielder in the Prem as he isn’t defensively good enough. So the list reads as: D Ward, S Ward, Hill, Shackell, Friend, Elokobi, Stearman, Berra, Van Damme, Moyokolo, N Collins – any of those good enough for the Prem? In fees, wages and signing on fees we’d have spent a lot of money on them, too. Forget Woodgate, Lescott & Taylor – if McCarthy signed a defender it’d be Hull’s accident prone Irishman Paul McShane.

I think the debate now has to move in to when mick goes, not if. Moxey & Morgan should accept denial is not a river in Egypt. Mick has done some positive things since he arrived. But all the evidence suggests that he does not have the ability to establish a promoted team in the premier league.

This has to happen before January, to firstly select a new manager and secondly to let him make some signings. We will still be favourites to go down even with a new manager. As fans we need to prepare for the worst.

Following the great dogged win over a poor Birmingham side I decided to have a Christmas amnesty on calling for MM to go.
Having driven another 170 miles to Molinuex I was greeted with the team sheet. Clearly I was suffering from a delusional hangover. No sane manager would leave their best player, most expensive striker and most experienced midfielder on the bench. (maybe it has something to do with the new seats!) Start with a second rate utility player up front. Yes he did have a good game against B’ham but that doesn’t make him a good player. Play Foley in midfield. He maybe be okay at fullback at times (when not playing against top wingers) but a midfielder of any description he is not.
I could go on but you have my drift. Mick has persisted with playing people out of position, picking favourites and having no idea how to change a game with substitutes.
He proved that in abundance yesterday.
Our defence is second rate. The only players that we have that resemble Premiership quality are Zubar and Craddock. Craddock is fifty and Zubar will surely leave and play at a better club. We all knew this last season. What has Mick done?? Nothing as far as I can see.
Our midfield is lightweight and devoid of creativity, unless Milijas is having a good day. Since Henry got sent off we seem to have lost a physical edge and we could never survive without matching other teams physically.
Jarvis has been our best player without doubt. Hunt has been a let down so far. Where is that persistence and petulance we saw at Reading and Hull? Fletcher? The jury is out because until he has had a decent run it is difficult to judge. Van Damme looked decent and Mick should’ve checked his history at Southampton or maybe played him and he might not have been so homesick. Finally, Doyle has continued to run and run but he should be judged on goals scored, not running.
We will get relegated, there is little doubt. What worries me is that both the Chairman and CEO seem to think this is acceptable, otherwise they would have done something by now.
I believe that as a season ticket holder that makes a massive round trip to each home game, I am entitled to my opinion and it should count for something. I have never booed the team and will remain loyal whilst on the terraces but for the first time ever (I have been a supporter since 1975) will consider my options for next season.

Awful yesterday too many players ‘not up for it’ which with the way we play is a major problem, we were shocking!!! My ratings for what its worth.

    Hennessey – Average
    Zubar – Woeful
    Stearman – Poor
    Berra – Woeful
Elokobi – Decent, but made to look better by those around him.
    Foley – Shocking
    Miljas – As above
    Hunt – Poor
Edwards – Poor, but out of position
    Ward – ‘See Elokobi’
Ebanks Blake – Decent, but was feeding of scraps

    McCarthy – Woeful

THIS IS REALLY SIMPLE – We must start playing players in their correct positions, if not we’ll relegated by March.

Yesterday was very very damaging, both in the result & the nature of the performance, Wigan, who I still think are a poor team, were better than us in every way, we really were that bad.

As a long standing seaon Ticket holder with my son, we are both fed up of poor quality, wasted money, players being bought or loaned for one position but rarely played there, good players not given a fair chance to impress, the wrong players on the bench, no signs of coaching, no idea on tactics, no signs of our own youth coming through. Quite simply MM thinks we are all thick and only his opinion counts and as Manager he has that right. However fans should be entitled to a professional dignified explanation of his regular bizzare decisions. He doesnt like fans questioning him. I wonder if Moxey or Morgan have the ability to ask such questions. We are all entitled to opinions. MM shows no proof after 4 years that he has the ability to coach and manage at the highest level and what Conner contributes is difficult to see – he should have gone during previous regimes. I said when MM paraded the Championship trophy that Morgan should have paid him off with grateful thanks as he could not take us any further. Fans around me thought I was mad – I have been proved right. So Mr Morgan and Mr Moxey can you explain what you see in MM and TC that majority of fans cannot? The fans will soon be chanting for MM’s head. MM will not attract players of quality – what seasoned pro with quality really wants to play for him? He cant handle experienced players with real flair because he does’nt know how to. He has to go and we have to get a real motivator with a top class coach. As Chairman that task lies with you Mr Morgan. Have you got what it takes? You need to act now, not in February when it certainly will be too late. Put the ground expansion on hold as you will never fill it in the Championship.

Why Mc Carthey as manager in the first place?
After the treatment to D.Jones during his reign and the way he was sacked, do you think any manager of quality would come to the club? Several managers tried without any results and we know why. Many fans thought M.M was the gift we had been waiting for but what had he ever done. His Irish national side success can be attributed to previous management and we all know why R.Kean left the squad M.M can get away with it in lower divisions but not at this level

Between them M+M+M have failed to secure a foundation of good quality players whilst keeping the money tight. You cannot do this in football, industry or retail. In effect, M.M shops, or is told to shop, at Poundland for players.

I have seen better school sides than the present Wolves quality. I have said before that, the Wolves, “stand and stare whilst building castles in the air” After some 65years plus of watching /supporting Wolves, this team is heading for the days of DIV 4 now League 2. This time there will be no S.Bull, Andy Mutch and Andy Thompson to drag every one else along with them.

Somehow MICK got us up (THANKS).The rest is unfolding as relegation looms.
The SAD state of affairs is that this was all very PREDICTABLE,yet nothing as been done to stop the process by “GETTING RID OF MICK”.
Mick is the sole reason for our demise, many many reasons have been given in the above POSTS and most fully justified.
Mick is a good MAN and a good LOWER league manager as for the premiership he does not have the ability to be “POSITIVE” and “BRAVE”.
He is also someone who is not making decisions that need to be made as if he as secrets and if certain players are dropped all would come to the front.
We are all aware that MICK as played 97 games in the prem and WON 16!!!We have 20 left and he needs to win 8-9,On the above statistics the answer is simple”NO”!!!
I travelled over from ireland and stayed away from my family for christmas so I could watch WOLVES!!!I dont want WOLVES to win every game and be at the the top or playing in EUROPE I am content with 16th /17th place in the prem.Surely that is not asking too much?Yes teams are relegated etc but not in the manner we are going down,We are in this position due to some DIABLOICAL decisions in majority of the cases under this manager..”IT IS SIMPLY CRIMINAL”Wigan are a very average side who have major difficulties like us,but they beat us by showing our one “STRENGTH” in there game which they usually LACK “FIGHT”.
MICK goodbye mate but you did it to yourself 100% as we should never have been in this position espacially this season after our lucky escape last year.We brought in new players and the one’s that had kept us up had a season behind them, meaning we should be progressing, even the HAPPY CLAPPERS(OR FOOLS)cant say we have progressed this season?MAYBE THEY CAN!!

When you lose at home to possibly(next to us)the worst team in the Premiership, it speaks volumes. The table does not lie – we are now the worst team in the League led by a Manager with the worst record of managing at this level.

The management of the Club must be blind, downright stupid or too cheap (or all three) to persist with MM. The players that have been brought in have either been abject failures or have never been given a proper chance to show what they can do. Too many of the squad are not capable of playing at this level either at all or consistently.

For the faithful, of which I am one, it is going to be a long, hard season to endure. The management should have more consideration for the season ticket holders and those that are able to attend on a regular basis.

I’m still depressed 24 hrs later. What a shocker yesterday was! I respect Mick as the decent, hard working bloke he is, but every boss has a shelf life at a club and McCarthy’s exhausted his. He HAS to go, whether he jumps or he’s pushed, but I wouldn’t wager a single penny on it happening. The three M’s are a tight-knit unit and besides, Morgan will see Mick as the best bet to get us promoted again. Trouble is, that’ll mean ANOTHER long stint at Molineux for McCarthy because he’ll “have to be given another chance in the top flight because he’s earned the right”. well, if that’s so, watch Molineux attendances drop like a brick.

Mick is OUT OF HIS DEPTH at this level. His shocking record PROVES IT without doubt. And would YOU trust him to spend YOUR cash? And would YOU trust him to sort out a leaky defence that’s never been convincing despite being 5 years to do so? When an ageing Jody Craddock is considered our lynchpin (and is sorely missed), by God you KNOW we’ve got trouble!

Us older fans waited years to see our beloved club regain its former status, yet we’re throwing it away by sticking with a boss who’s lost the plot; insults our intelligence; refuses to play anyone other than his favourites; can’t tactically compete with bright Premier League bosses -and can’t grasp the nettle when substitutions are desperately needed. What a joke.

However, Mick won’t go, trust me. Wolves have declared that the ‘hiring and firing’ days are over. Trouble is, they’ve now gone way too far in the opposite direction and will resolutely stick with McCarthy in the vain hope he can save our skins.

Wise up, Morgan and Moxey; this club is sinking faster than the Titanic and no amount of EXCUSES from the ‘We Love Mick’ fraternity (concerning injuries, etc) will wash with me. He’s been paid very well to keep us in the Premier and is failing abysmally. He’s had his chance and blown it. Thanks for the ride, Mick….now hand in your resignation like the good egg you are -and close the door on your way out. Or ask Clipboard Connor to?

Should we be surprised? Am I surprised? No, this type of game is one we wolves have failed to win too much since returning to the top flight. I don’t know what is told to the players but clearly it doesn’t do the trick when we play a team we need to beat or let’s say it works once in a while.

The fixtures coming up look too much for Wolves and with news of missing out on Sidwell due to family reasons but I also bet a slightly better pay deal to West Ham doesn’t help. Then there’s David Wheater, why? There’s no point wasting money on same type of players we already have, Mick is at fault for not buying better with his transfer fund money but at the same time the board are disgustingly arrogant and naive in thinking cheap deals will keep the club going in the Premier League until the stadium is rebuilt, that’s a Sir Jack Hayward mistake again, the team needs better quality, I don’t see why Wolves can’t afford to pay a little bit more to get that quality. For key players not squad players, we don’t want to pay squad players too much money, if the board don’t want to pay for better players then they have got to cut prices of tickets because it’s too expensive and there are clubs like a Bolton or Wigan who pay that bit more but struggle to fill their grounds, although ours has taken a slight dip we still average better, but for how long we can keep 25 thousand is doubtful.

To me the club is run like cheap retail merchandiser, everywhere they can make a quick buck and save a few is taken, some will say that’s good business but if Mr Morgan wants a Premier League club then he should cancel the stadium plans which should of been 2 or 3 years down the line and free up that 16 million quid for January to stay up. This may be viewed as ‘numpty’ opinion but it’s the same of Paul Hayward of the Guardian newspaper, he’s point is that the Wolves board should be helping Mick in the transfer market, in McCarthy’s defence is he is shopping in low end market. Stoke City have moved up and even Birmingham have tried to move forward in the market. You get what you pay for in this league, for instance instead of wasting 5 million on Mouyokolo and Jelle, we perhaps could of gotten a better centre half of Premier League experience instead of two flops.

Whole the club needs a culture change, if we really can’t afford two or three players of better quality then start using the transfer money and make our academy one the best in the country and do a Barcelona and grow a team (not saying we would produce the quality like the Spanish giants but we might get some better players long term and more of a chance of top quality players). This would be part of teaching the youngsters to play the game and not more of winning at all costs, such a change would be a great benefit to England overall that’s if it’s done right. No more picking players because they run all over the pitch chasing the ball but doing nothing with the ball, no more overlooking a player of better technical quality due to him not being a physical type of player, and no more long ball.

This would require Mick in changing his football philosophy if you could call his way philosophy, Ian Holloway has done it so why can’t Mick. If he doesn’t want too then get rid and bring in a new, young and upcoming manger and coach start the change now.

Micks style of football and arrogance is something I find hard to stomach expecially as his prem league record is well below average. But after the good wins at sunderland and Brum, I really thought we had turned the corner and would come out firing against Wigan and get a narrow win.
The result is the most important thing and we lost but the performance in all areas, team selection, tactics, substitutions were all so appalling. There were no positives.
Lets not kid ourselves we are facing relegation here and i dont see the fight, experience and creativity to get out of it.
A decision does need to me made on Mcarthys future soon.
The questions that needs asking are
Does Mick have the ability to prepare, select and play a team capable of getting an away result at Liverpool and West Ham?
With some of the injured players coming back will we be able to seriously compete?
Come january can Mick attract additional players who can really strenghen the squad? i.e
    experienced central defender
    a reliable left back
an combative midfielder who can pass the ball.
a 3rd winger, we need to play 2 wingers. Mick wont play Mijangi bia and Hunt has underperformed.

Was on the baggies page the other day because I was curious about the “we will sign only one player” headline. Jack the Hat (baggies fan on there)mentioned that us lot down the road need £80million to sort the team out. I accused him of talking through his hat, well I apologise to him as he obviously knows better then MM et al exactly how bad things have got and exactly how much it will cost to put right. I see Grant at West Ham was given an ultimatum of winning at least one of their next 3 games in order to save his job! Result so far, played 2 won 1 and Drawn 1, maybe Morgan should apply the same tactics to MM!!

John de Wolf – You want 8 loan signings (mostly ridiculous). Premier League maximum for a season is 4. We have used (OK wasted) one already. I think you’ll find that leaves 3. And you wonder why people think we are numpties?

You are bringing in 7 loan signings. Did someone suddenly change the rules?

You obviously have not got a clue!

NOISY christmas is over!!Blaming this and that player is of no use, these very players and yes even WARD would look and feel better if we were sitting 12th.
I am aware that WARD is the one genuine player who just does not have the capacity to play at this level. He as had a longer run than most in the team and has produced the least.Other player have varying games from one week to the other,FOLEY as been good this season yet he was poor yesterday, does not mean he is no longer able for the prem,Milijias was poor in the 1st half but the few matches prior he was holding his own,WARD as never been good,if he had half a decent game yesterday, then why did he not have one SHOT on GOAL?
MICK OUT IS THE ONLY WAY UP!!!!!!
MICK is the root cause of the problems we face.
Never hide away from the facts face them head on ,and MICKS prem record as been crying out for him to be FIRED!
Yet fools on here and the boardroom think he can save us!!!?CRAZY.
I will remain patient as sooner or later mick will become HISTORY.

First off, I am not having a pop. I really would like to see all the midland sides in the Prem, but I don’t think Walsall will make it for a couple of years.
You atr not in an eviable position, I know we’ve occupied that spot ourselves more times than I care to remember. The January window or changing your manager won’t help and I’ll tell you why. Players first, no one who is good enough to make a difference will want to join any club at the foot of the league since the statistics have shown that you are the most likely to be relegated and no “top class” player wants a trip to the championship. Managers are the same. I can’t think of anyone who would like to take the gamble, the good ones would rather take over a championship side and get them promoted rather than take a big risk of falling into the championship. Look at Leeds and Charlton. They both had to sell players to cut the wage bill and repay outstanding debts and managers would rather not start of a campaign by losing their best players. Only one team has managed to beat the bottom at Christmas jinx and that was on the last day and with fingers and toes crossed that games would go our way. I’ll tell you now that we were lucky and I wouldn’t want to wish that on anyone. Not being masters of your destiny is like being out of control, frightning.
As I have said earlier, I am not being negative. I would really like you to stay up and let some London teams drop down a level for once. I wish you luck and a few more wins, you have to get the avarage of under a point a game higher for you to have a chance of survival. I hope you do it, I really do, but I suppose this post will be villified by those fans, of either team, who take our rivalry beyond friendly and into the hate realm.
I wish you well for the rest of the season.

McCarthy only managed 28 matches before being sacked by Sunderland. His overall reord in the premier is 84 played; 15 won; drawn 18; lost 51; for 70; against 139. Either way its shocking!!!!

Lets all face it we are not good enough for the prem league, when will messr’s Mcarthy, Moxey and Morgan understand that buying players from relegated premier league teams such as Reading and Hull if they could do nothing for them why do they think they would be able to do it for Wolves, and then buying players from the continet who would find it hard to get into a division 1 side if they are serious about being a premier league side they need to buy quality players, it say’s it all when they say they are after Kean and Lescott on loan then in the next breath say we cannot afford their wages, so why bothet. so long the Premier league and hello the Championship were we belong, Sack Mcarthy now bring in Alladice.

It would appear that the majority of supporters funding this totally inept management are now at the end of their tether. The ANSWER, however difficult, is simply to stay away, keep your money in your pocket and withdraw your financial support and that includes season ticket holders. It is the only real tool we have to prompt serious action by the senior executive and the Chairman.

I had hoped that the indignation would have so great today that this and other websites would have ‘Crashed’ long before now. 27,000 should be screaming for action and a refund following this latest debacle.

As one body, however loyal and long serving, we should now tell them that enough is quite Enough ! and we aint going to suffer any more shoddy performances. We can’t call in Trading Standards so simply STAY AWAY !!

So MM says I am a numbty yes I am by spending my hard earned cash to watch a second rate team, but as a numpty I will still spend my cash next season in the Championship because that is were MM is taking us. Who I ask is the really numbty it is you MM you brought in the second rate players, you pick the team you give the team talk, after Wigan who is the real NUMBTY YES IT’S YOU MM. COME ON MORGAN/MOXEY SACK THIS REALLY STUPID NUMBTY, or risk loosing the mumbties who turn up week after week.

Wow, I never thought I would captulate so early into the campaign, but I have now! Through all of last year’s “great escape,” and to this point in time, our potential GE#2, I was bankng on Super Mick to get it right. But, as I look back, I was quite niave, and a “happy clapper” or not, felt that when key players returned, others got blooded and broken in to life in the EPL, we would get ourselves sorted and move away from the trap door..,

    I was niave!

I have my plane ticket and lodgings all booked for March, to now watch us march back to the wilderness! It seems to be a case of the blind leading the blind, and I am sad to finally admit that we are odds on favourites to be buried six feet deep by the time I cross the pond for both fixtures I plan to attend. Still coming, but with flowers of sorrow to help rest our beloved Wolves in their EPL grave, to come forth in summer, as an Inpower side, ugh!

Did somebody spike my egg-nog, or are we really propping up the table? Wake me up, as these Ghosts of Christmas Pasts are not knd enough!
