Wolves face injury wait on duo
Saturday 18th December 2010, 10:21AM GMT.
Wolves will be missing Kevin Doyle and Michael Mancienne indefinitely as they face a waiting game on their injuries.
But Christophe Berra (thigh), David Jones (cut foot) and Matt Jarvis (knee) should be fit for tomorrow’s Black Country derby at The Hawthorns.
Doyle has a torn thigh while Mancienne sees a specialist on Monday to see whether he needs surgery on his patella tendon problem in his knee. Steven Mouyokolo is still out and is being treated for his back injury.
“Michael still isn’t fit — the tendon in his knee is bothering him,” said boss Mick McCarthy. “The scan hasn’t really shown any damage but it’s still sore, so he’s seeing a specialist on Monday who will tell us how serious it is.
“Doyle’s scan showed the tear in his thigh. I don’t know how long he’s going to be out — I wouldn’t want to put a time limit on it because some will heal quicker than others. Mouyokolo isn’t fit — his back is still sore.”
McCarthy added: “Christophe hasn’t trained but he will do today and I’m anticipating he’ll be fit,” said the boss. “Matt should train today and he’s fit enough join the squad. Hunt has been poorly but he trained yesterday, as did Jones.”
McCarthy seems set to keep faith with the team that beat Birmingham six days ago, which means Stephen Ward may be in a slightly withdrawn role.
And he backed Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to perform a role similar to Doyle up front. “Sylvan had his best game for us — he was really selfless in his performance,” said the boss. “Whether he can or not (play on his own) lies with him.”

When is he going to get it we need two attackers, one we paid 7.5M for, probably why Dolye has got injured by having to do this for two seasons.

To be honest, as much as I like Kevin Doyle and think he’s probably our best bet if we’re going to play 4-5-1 (a system that gets the best out of Jarvis), his shooting isn’t nearly as good as SEB’s or Fletch’s. Given the way those two played together on the opening day of the season, I’d really like to see them partnered together again. And if Elokobi has to play centre half and Ward left back, there’s a chance isn’t there? Or is Fletch ill again?

1) Because we got murdered everyweek playing 442. 451 is without doubt our best formation.

If anyone watched the game closely against brum last week. They would have seen that when going forward we had plenty of attackers in the box. The goal came from Hunt at the near post who was playing wide left. Its not about how we line up but how we attack and defend as a team. I’ll take 1-0 for every remaining game rather than losing 3-2 or 4-3. Good luck tomorrow. UTW.

Mancienne is one of the best players chelsea never played. I swear I’ve seen his knees bend backwards somewhat like a flamingo’s. So why he is suffering this problem now I can only guess. My theory is that he fears the return of Joelean lezcott and is getting his excuse in early.
If Mick manages to pull a Baggies win out of the hat at the PoorThorns I think his job will be safe to the end of the season
