All about the team for Wolves hero
Monday 29th November 2010, 11:35AM GMT.
Wolves match-winner Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has insisted he is happy to continue putting the team before himself after his heroics against Sunderland.
Ebanks-Blake’s late winner was his fourth goal of the season and ended a run of four successive defeats for Mick McCarthy’s side to lift them to within three points of safety.
The striker has made just five Premier League starts this season but is happy to be a super-sub if the team benefits after his second goal coming off the bench.
He said: “It’s a squad game and whether you’re sat on the bench or playing or even sat in the stands you support the team and do as much as you can to contribute.
“That’s what we all did on Saturday. There’s great character in this squad and that’s not changed from the day I joined here.
“When you’re on the bench you’ve just got to be ready to contribute and that’s what I tried to do.
“As a striker, when you’re put on at that stage it’s to make an impact and win the game. It was a brilliant feeling and I was delighted to get the winning goal. I love scoring goals, always have.
“But I was more delighted for the lads and everyone involved that we got the three points, because we deserved it.”
Ebanks-Blake believes Wolves’ luck has changed after the vital win.
He said: “It was a win that’s been coming for a long time.
“We have been playing well and have been unfortunate.”
