Darkest days at Wolves for Mick McCarthy

Boss Mick McCarthy today admitted he is in his toughest period of his time at Wolves which has left the club needing title-winning form to get back on track.

McCarthy went into what he described at the start of the week as a ‘must-win’ clash against Sunderland today seeking to end a run of nine defeats in 11 games that left the team five points from safety.

The Molineux chief was also battling an injury crisis that had robbed him of Jody Craddock, Karl Henry, Dave Edwards and Adlene Guedioura, while Christophe Berra is suspended and Kevin Foley, Steven Mouyokolo and Steven Fletcher were doubtful.

“It is the toughest time,” said McCarthy. “We had a tough spell last year around the time we played Birmingham.

“But we went on to win three games out of four and we have to find that again from somewhere.

“Our performances have been good and we look a better team than last year but the results have been worse than last season.

“But I won’t stop smiling.

“I am enjoying the job; I don’t enjoy getting beat or justifying it or analysing it afterwards but I’m still enjoying it.

“There’s no doom or gloom around the place but I know from being a player that it has to affect you.

“But we do everything in our capability to make sure they’re confident going to play.”

    Lets hope so.

No doubt a difficult time, injuries, bad luck, silly mistakes – not all of them on the pitch – BUT that’s why we need to stick together more than ever. Take no notice of the dozen or so hard line anti-Mick brigade who have been against him since day 1, and if we are struggling to beat a team (who won 3-0 at Chelsea last week) we need to sing and shout louder than ever. If any Wolves player hasn’t given 100% by 4.50pm you can have your little moan then (but I doubt it will happen).

Come on Wolves fans get behind the team today and spur them on to a much needed win. Hope Mick can turn things around and that Wolves stay in the prem. There are other poor teams around us whom we need to stay in touch with. This will need the support of everyone involved with the club. The great escape is possible if all fans keep the faith.

Why include Guediora as injured he hardly ever played him even when he was the form player he preferred to stick with his favourites now reap the whirlwind.

I will support the players as always today, but i have nothing but contempt for our useless, arrogant manager. Apparently i am now a “numptie” as well as a “nugget”. The sooner he is sacked the better and good riddance! I will still be a loyal supporter long after this offensive man is history!

I hope who ever wears the ‘GOLD N BLACK’ shirts today wear them with pride? We know you will all ‘put a shift in’ but lets hope you play with a bit of ‘skill’ too, take the game to them, yes their forwards are playing well, but their not that good a the back, so when we get our chances and we will get some, just make sure you TAKE them. UTW: GOOD LUCK TODAY LADS: ENJOY THE MATCH YOU GREAT SUPPORTERS:

the real fans will get behind the Wolves today. Those who want us to lose so they can get rid of a manager they never supported cannot call themselves real fans.

Mick McCarthy – Wolves best and most successful manager for at least 30 years.

A man who is passionate about football and loves the Wolves.

A man who gets 100% from his players.

    Yes, a few mistakes…the man’s not perfect.

But total commitment and passion means Mick deserves our support.

    Up the Wolves.

C’MON WWFC, get all the MM hater’s back on side today. get behind all the lads in gold and black and sing ya hearts out, lets make it a hostile environment for the black cats to come to and roar on the wolves. i have all the faith that we can still be safe with games left (just look at the boggies up the road a few weeks ago to where they are now). we still have our bit of luck to come and key players to return and MM will keep us there.

if we do go down, then i believe that MM is the way forward as he has a second to none record at getting teams out of the championship..

    C’MON YOU WOLVES

1, i’m sure when you’re tuned into Beacon later you will rant and rave as much as you like and sing McCarthy out to your hearts content!

The true fans (even those that would rather see MM shown the door) will be cheering the lads on at Molineux this afternoon and giving them all the positivity they possibly can! That is the only way we will turn our season around!

People like you would rather see the team lose and the manager sacked………… way to go ‘supporter’!!!!!

    Shocked…stunned and baffled

Strange team selection……1 up front, to scared to lose not brave enough to win!!!

Please MM learn from this – when we play with 2 up front, wolves actualy look quite a force . Please play to our strengths because up front we are decent at the back we are shocking.

Plus point Zubar back and SEB scoring, is he our top scorer? Only played 3 games, shame he doesn’t get the same opportunity as some of the other MM favourites!

What a strange two weeks it has been since our last game. I haven’t looked over my neighbour’s fence with as much interest since Pamela Anderson moved in next door and regularly used her trampoline, writes Albion blogger Jarrod Hill.
