Karl Henry ruled out for two months
Monday 22nd November 2010, 1:30PM GMT.
Captain Karl Henry today plunged Wolves into crisis when he was ruled out for two months.
Midfielder Henry suffered medial ligament damage to his right knee in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Blackpool.
The Molineux skipper, who has been linked with Everton, came off after an hour and limped away from Bloomfield Road.
Henry’s injury means Wolves are without three midfielders, with David Edwards and Adlene Guedioura also out at a key time of the season.
They will also have to do without Christophe Berra for Saturday’s home clash with Sunderland, as the defender is suspended after picking up his fifth booking.
Jody Craddock and Ronald Zubar are back in training, but manager Mick McCarthy insists the weekend will come too soon for them to be considered.
McCarthy said: “Karl is out for two months with medial knee ligament damage. He’s had a scan and I think there’s a slight tear.
“It’s a huge blow, especially with David Edwards out with a thigh strain.
“Karl’s been great and has been an ever-present unless he’s been injured – and the injuries he’s had have been serious, with his knee and a damaged spleen.
“It’s a big loss.”

Sorry, but a likeable guy that isn’t good enough at this level. Finally, a chance to change the team around.
I’m sorry, but the only way McCarthy will change his losing team is when a player is injured.
Our midfield is pretty attrocious and Karl Henry is the root cause of it. I can’t say I’m unhappy to see him out, but I’m sorry he is injured never the less.

Not really a crisis, it’s a blessing if you ask me!!
MICK OUT!

Dont think this is a devastating as its being made out. Milijas for captain??? Has been screaming at players since he returned to the team. Aswell as he is our best midfielder..

This means we,ll miss out on another 3 points then.

This has to force our hand now. We have to play more attacking 4-3-3 / 4-2-4 with Miljas centre of the park. If mancienne isn’t covering a defender position then he can support Miljas and Hunt misses out. We have to play all 3 strikers with Jarvis feeding them.

Absolute nightmare. This means back to the tactic of either mancienne or foley in midfield god help us. Mick your time is up anyone who went to see Blackpool will realise that you have lost it tactically absolute disgrace to drop milijas can’t see where the next point will come from if i’m honest. Either shore up that useless defence in January or it hello days out at doncaster for us.

especially with Dave Edwards out??
And berra missing?
Every single player mentioned in this story is a championship player. Two years and £40million after we are promoted and its a crisis we are missing our championship players?
The only one who we should be concerned about is Zubar, the rest of them are just average journey men in a poor excuse for a premiership team.
I’m surprised he didn’t mention Stephen Ward , crickey, how can we cope with such an abundance of talent side lined?
Come on, get real, they are all poor players. As a fan, I see this as an opportunity to get out of this mess as it will force mcCarthy to play some of his signinging rather than the chumps from the championship.

The first thing I thought was blessing in disguise. We cant all be that deluded on here. It’s Mick that’s wrong. Much as I like him Karl Henry isn’t doing anything to deserve a place in the side this season. We wouldn’t be much worse off with any old loanee/youth.

if this is a blow it just shows how poor we are!

lets face it were DIA stick with 4 5 1 and try and emulate last season it worked then!!

Maybe, just maybe, we might see more of an attacking impetus from midfield. I’d sell Henry to Everton for £2.5m tomorrow

This probably means that, as threatened, we’ll see Foley shunted into the holding midfielder role, and so another player will be fielded in a position that isn’t their own.
It’s starting to feel like the football Gods are not smiling on us this season. Stand by for Doncaster away…

It’s been commented on before but what’s the problem? McCarthy has been playing players out of position for years, so he can do so yet again to replace Henry!

I can see the non regulars are already out in force and I bet the rebuttals will be “I have been a season ticket holder for 30 years”…..
Henry out of the midfield is no blessing are you lot deluded Henry out the team leaves us with the MM as his replacement a man who even though was brought up through the Chelsea academy can barely pass the ball and gets bullied around on the pitch.
With out Henry we have fit midfield of Milijas, MM & Jones that scares me as the latter 2 are the most inconsistent players in the whole squad.
