Stephen Hunt is urging big thinking

New-boy Stephen Hunt is urging Wolves to think big in the build-up to the Carling Cup assignment against Manchester United.
Both managers are expected to field much-changed line-ups for the Old Trafford tie, but United will still be hot favourites to advance to the quarter-finals.
But that backdrop did not stop Newcastle winning at Chelsea in the previous round and Hunt, who could make his first senior start for Wolves tonight, will not allow the shadow of United to block his view of a possible Wembley run.
He said: “The United game is an opportunity for us.
“I know it will be difficult but it’s still a chance to get to the last eight of a Cup and if we could still be in it come February-March time, the whole club would be buzzing.
“I really want a medal. What’s the point of going through your career and settling for 17th place in the league?
“I want to have some silverware to show for my career and to only have a Championship medal for getting 106 points isn’t the greatest CV. It’s nice to have but we have to move on.
“We’ve got to raise the standards here and hopefully get this club back into the mentality of winning things again, because it’s got a proud history and a lot of the players here have that mentality from winning the Championship.
“Unless you win trophies, you’re no good to anyone – second is nothing, it’s all about winning.”
Hunt made an impressive start to his Wolves career at Molineux with his second-half appearance at Chelsea and is earmarked for a key role, as the season progresses.
Manager Mick McCarthy is refusing to give even a hint about whether the winger starts tonight, but Hunt is eager to get more game-time under his belt in a Wolves team in search of a result to back up belief that their form level is better than their Premier League positions suggests.
He said: “At United, we’ll get time on the ball and hopefully we’ll show that we’re good on the ball.
“If we could go into the Manchester City game on the back of getting to the quarter finals of the Carling Cup, that would be great.
“I want to get some minutes under my belt at Old Trafford – I’ve never been injured in my career before this.”
