Wolves’ Kevin Doyle gets goal backing
Saturday 23rd October 2010, 11:29AM BST.
Wolves’ £7m hitman Steven Fletcher today insisted strike partner Kevin Doyle will soon see the benefits of his workrate by hitting the goal trail.
Doyle led the line superbly on his own up front and was the club’s nine-goal top scorer last season.
But although the Ireland forward has notched two at international level and two in the Carling Cup for Wolves in 2010-11, the 27-year-old has yet to get off the mark in the Premier League before today’s clash at Chelsea.
But Fletcher, who has scored three goals this season, has seen enough of £6.5m Doyle to realise how capable he is in front of goal.
“Doyle bangs them in in training every day and you saw that last season as well,” said Fletcher. “He’s a prolific scorer – once he gets one I think a lot more will come because his workrate is unbelievable.
“I’ve never seen a striker work so hard and he will get his goals – he always does.
“I don’t think he gets as much credit as he deserves because he upsets the two centre halves on his own which is good.
“Doyle is a great player and his awareness and ability are superb. Sylvan is the same as well – he can come in and do the same job and we’ve got Marcus Bent as well.
“Everyone is looking dangerous in training so hopefully we can get an opportunity of playing together because I think we’ll do well.”

What a strange two weeks it has been since our last game. I haven’t looked over my neighbour’s fence with as much interest since Pamela Anderson moved in next door and regularly used her trampoline, writes Albion blogger Jarrod Hill.
