More to come from Steven Fletcher

Steven Fletcher has told Wolves fans there is plenty more to come as he looks to put one over his Wigan mates on Saturday.

The £7million record signing has already scored three goals to top the club scoring charts.

But last Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Villa was the first time he started alongside £6.5million Kevin Doyle and Fletcher believes fans will see him get even better as he finds his sharpness after his foot injury.

He said: “I still think I’ve got more to offer. I have come back after being injured and have got some goals but probably not been completely fully sharp.

“Hopefully, now I’m back to full fitness, I can get a few more.”

Fletcher opened the scoring for Burnley at home to Wigan last season before the Latics turned the tables and won 3-1 thanks to two-goal Hugo Rodellaga, who also grabbed a last-gasp winner at the DW Stadium against the Clarets.

The Scotland striker, who was today named in the squad for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Spain, is now looking for revenge against his international team-mates.

He said: “There’s a few Scottish lads at Wigan such as Gary and Steven Caldwell, James McArthur and James McCarthy.

“They are good mates so it will be good to see them, although when the game starts we will want the result.

“Wigan is a big game and we’re all looking forward to the opportunity of hopefully putting things right.

“We’ve been playing well, but we’ve conceded too many late goals recently and the gaffer has spoken to us about it.”

Fletcher is confident Wolves will regain their form after three successive defeats.

He said: “It’s been an up-and-down start with a few injuries and the recent results, but hopefully we can pick it up again on Saturday. We’re still confident, we’ve got a good squad.

“Hopefully that will show on Saturday.”

Fletcher played wide right in the second half against Villa and the 23-year-old believes he can do a job anywhere across the front line.

He said: “Playing anywhere on the pitch is good enough for me.It’s been good to get some games under my belt having been injured.

“I had some joy out on the right and saw a lot of the ball, it’s just a shame we couldn’t get another goal after the equaliser before they punished us.”
