Wolves’ Karl Henry in swipe at Joey Barton

Wolves captain Karl Henry has launched a withering attack on controversial Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton after their X-rated battle on Saturday.

Henry played a full-blooded part in the 1-1 draw which ended with 12 bookings – of which Wolves’ seven included four for tackles on Barton.

Although the Molineux skipper denied Wolves targeted the former Manchester City man, Henry believes Barton’s tackles do not carry the weight of his ‘verbals’.

“He seems to think he’s a bit of a player who puts his foot in, but I certainly didn’t see any of that from him – not when the ball was there to be won,” said Henry.

“I saw a lot of shoving players around off the ball.

“He was moaning in the ref’s ear all the time and not happy about getting put to the floor. But we’ll have more of the same when we go up to their place.”

Henry acknowledged Barton’s exchange with Wolves boss Mick McCarthy after the game.

“There was a lot of talk and moaning as usual,” he said.

McCarthy said: “Joey was complaining about one or two tackles and we were laughing about it.”

What a prat Joey Barton is. I for one will be ooking forward to that away fixture with Newcastle, and the look on cry baby’s mug when Henry gives him another special greeting card that reads, “Don’t Tread On Me or Wolves!

Joey Barton is and always was a tart. No guts and a cheat of the first order. If his feet were as busy as his mouth he would be a
somewhat better player!!!! A diver fit for the twenty twelve olympics.

Oh shut up, all you wolves fans with your ridiculous comments. Those tackles were worth a red card. Joey Bartons changed and should be given a chance. Henry will get what he deserves at St James’ Park. You don’t do that to a newcastle player and Henry better watch out in the return fixture. What a thug Henry is. Should play rugby instead of football. Disgrace to the game. All he was trying to do was have Barton sent off. has a yumm as face too.

Looks like barton can talk the talk but not walk the walk.
He certainly doesnt seem to be able to take it as much as he dishes it out.
The Press annoyed me about the coverage no talk of the fouls on our players by Smith, Nolan, Barton and Carrol. Van Damme had to go off injured for a challange on him Berra was pushed to the ground by Nolan straight from the kick off. No mention of this by the Press instead it paints us as a dirty team and Newcastle as angels

Henry’s small time to Barton and all Newcastle players, and Barton has nothing to prove to some nobody from W*lverh*mpt*n.

keep it up henry! Great challenges and fair! thats the sort of captain we need who drives the whole team on. If Joey Barton’s supposed to be a hard man theres no hope for football. All he does is winge and couldn’t put in a hard tackle to save his life.

I thought Henry had a good game on Saturday and i don’t know what all the fuss is about. As far as I’m aware football is still a competitive contact sport.

    6. As far as I’m aware Henry has never claimed to be a hard man but i have no doubt that you will see the same competitive edge to him where ever we play. If your thug can only do it in his own back yard then that’s your problem not ours.

    7. For disgrace to the game look no further than Joey Barton and his illustrious past or maybe you need reminding of his tackles on Etuhu and Alonso and the small matter of a prison sentence.

    9. If small time means not being Barton then i will take it.

No Henry we won’t have ‘more of the same up at their place’ for two reasons:

    1) When you’re away two of those challenges at most would get you sent off, especially when there’s 50,000 fans baying for the card.

    2) I’m sure the likes of Nolan, Smith and Barton will remember, if not the whole team, and get the boot in much more. The reason why Barton never got his foot in was seen by the fact he got a yellow for his only significant challenge of the match late on – he’d have been sent off for any one of Henry’s ‘challenges’. We’ll see a different side of him on our patch. Plus we’ll unleash our unseen weapon on you – Tiote. I suspect there will be a lot of ‘talk and moaning’ when you’re being carried off on a stretcher.

Joey is good at dangerous over the ball tackles and off the ball stuff (e.g. pushing Dave Jones into Matt Jarvis’ path and obstructing Karl Henry when he was going to win a ball which then lead to a Newcastle break and Berra’s yellow card). Karl put in two excellent hard tackles early on but was a bit silly with the one he got booked for. For his actions off the field nobody will have any sympathy for Barton.

I am a wolves fan but totally agree with the comments from a few wolves and newcastle fans, HENRY was out of order on saturday and any other ref would have sent him off… Is this what i bring my children to the match to see our captin acting like a thug and kicking lumps out of a player.. How slow is HENRY to realise it didnt work it didnt wind him up and he answered with an assist for their goal, please act your age karl

7- you know nothing about football, karl henry is hard but fair, where as barton goes in sly and over the top, like he did on van dam, barton built his reputation on supposingly being a hard tackler , sems strange now that he should winge like a baby over a few full blooded tackles, and his rolling on the floor was pathetic in an attempt to get henry sent off, he was in so much pain yet still managed to get back up, what a prat

Well done Karl Henry. Tremendous performance. Im old enough to remember when football was a mans game. How would `cry baby Barton` have got on against the likes of Tommy Smith, Chopper Harris, or Norman Hunter. But the powers that be continue to try and remove tackling from our game. I for 1 didnt see any dangerous challenges. Im sure Barton, Smith and Nolan will be putting themselves about in the return fixture. But you wont see our boys rolling around like girls. We are Wolves, and we will NOT be bullied out of this division. Keep it up boys. Great start.

Well done Karl Henry – stuck to the game plan. The failure of the referee to spot a blatent penalty at 1 – 0 was more of a factor in the game to me than Barton.

Barton showed your Henry up, showed he is better for not retaliating, but believe it, things will be different on the return…. lets see how much of a big man Henry is then, can he keep his cool??? It will be different with 52,000 fanatical Geordies behind a far bigger and far better team……you might have to resort to playing football, but hey, if that happens .. God help you then…… HWTL

Put your dummies back in, it’s a CONTACT sport you moaners!!!

You should think yourself lucky that we DIDN’T get that stonewall penalty. Yes we were a bit shaky at times especially the first half but if that pen had been given and scored it would have been goodnight Toon I assure you. Ten men and 2 down would have seen us with the win, so stop moaning and be thankful you managed to nick a point.

Hopefully we’ll get a competent ref for the return game, and any reprisal type action will be duly punished.

I really enjoyed the game on sat. That kind of battle, is why I started loving English footie in the first place, instead of getting into the Spanish or Italian league.
Too many people think that English football is all about the pretty teams such as the Arsenals, or the Chelseas.
Well to me, what we saw on saturday is much closer to the roots.
I’d prefer a game like that to a game such as Barcelona vs Real Madrid any day.

Deluded Geordies, still going to win the league are we?

Henry put in some great tackles that were all fair, your thug of a midfielder shouldn’t have been playing and as for smiths pathetic two footed lunges, if our players hadn’t seen them and got out the way he would have caused some serous damage. Even the pathetic ref would have had to have done something about it.

Your midfield is one that is based on thugery and intimidation, we just stood up and showed that we wouldn’t let you have it your own way, and because your god on saturday night started crying about it your all whinging on with your newcy browns and inflated self importance.

All this talk of red cards is complete nonsense.

Though I dont agree with im having a pop at him in the press.

And to all the geordie whiners, what’s Henry got to worry about going up there.

29, Grace, NYD was very memorable and don’t forget the FA Cup hammering in 2003!!

Maybe Barton should of asked old Toon favourite and equally disliked amongst most fellow professionals, Craig Bellamy, if Wolves like to stick the boot in.

Anyway, I don;t think we’ve ever had to fear Newcastle, looking at the head to head stats we seem to of enjoyed considerably more success against them over the years.
